Rainbow Mists Weyr is a noncanon Dragonriders of Pern role play set during the 11th Interval.

Going strong for eight years since our founding in 2004, we moved to proboards in the spring of 2011. We offer a plot-filled Pern with a rich history and an emphasis on character creation freedom. We are proud to welcome role players of all backgrounds, ages and experience.

Dragons of every hue grace this tropical paradise. A lush jungle valley that by the ocean's Great Bay. Magnificent waterfalls laced with rainbows in their mist decorate the Weyr. A large field spreads out to the south, a lake nestles up against the Weyr Bowl, and the jungle borders the Weyr grounds. The beach is within walking distance, just on the other side of the Bowl's wall through a breathtaking arch. Dragons rest upon the heights, people bustle about the Weyr and great birds called LifeWings soar peacefully above.

  • When the Headwoman is discovered to be missing from her office one morning, it starts a hunt that ends in a scrap of note and her body. This seems to be connected to the bodies found four months earlier (in Much Ado About Something), but now it’s been a Turn and there’s been no breakthrough in the investigations. However, the Weyrwoman has been quietly discussing a mysterious book that she recently received, and it just might reveal the whys of a very dangerous group of characters.
  • Ice Stone Weyr has always been home to the rough, rugged, and unusual. It takes a tough breed to live in the harsh Far North. Everyone has to have a say about to Silverlights and it's no quiet tension between the different camps. One group kidnapped a Silverlight Weyrling and kept her chained to make their point clear, and even now that he’s been free for over a Turn, there is no clear end in sight for this conflict. Now there is a male Silverlight, the first of its kind, and the whole situation is sliding down the icy slope. Weyrwoman Hedara intends to address the Weyr on the issue, but what is she going to say of the Silvered?

    Please, come, child, and let me tell you a story... a very important story that has changed our fate.... Listen and learn.

    After AIVAS, Pern's dragon population dwindled, as was expected. However, it would seem that the dragons were not as unnecessary or unneeded as so many thought. A meteor collided with the Red Star, bringing it, once more, into orbit with Pern. Threadfall once more plagued the people. It became known as simply the New Fall. Those few dragonriders sent a seed back in time to plant a defense for their future. This seed consisted of two queens and Weyrlings. They established a Wer upon an island between the two continents. Soon, it was made official and the Weyr was called Trelis, and for turns it flourished.

    It came to pass in time that when the new Senior Gold, Loraketh's clutch hatched, several new mutation colors were shelled. Amongst them were two sub-queens, clutching females that did not quite rank as high as gold. At the same time, two groups rose up, one headed by the Obsidian Rider Noita, and the other the Bronze Rider S'vrin. One was indisputably for the mutations, while the other only wanted to purge the entire surface of Pern from them once and for all. Then, Threadfall started for the second time since the New Fall, and Inali's Loraketh was injured and betweened leaving the newly graduated Iirla and Izanycorth in charge.

    S'vrin and Noita's groups took their chance as Trelis became torn and easily frustrated over the new leadership. In addition to this was the growing trouble caused by the Rebellion that Noita headed and tensions spiked. A true battle finally broke between the two factions over their beliefs of the mutation colors as the people of Pern were forced to choose a side. There was no longer any room for neutral ground. Terlis was split in half as both Istans and Rebel spies inhabited the Weyr and influenced her people. In the Summer of 202 the fighting finally started to break out, and it was not The Rebellion that won. Noita took the Rebellion to an Island named Rindell close to the Southern Continent to lick their wounds.

    The Rebellion became frustrated with its leadership though, and chose to rise up, assisted by Eiko and her Obsidian Nimarath as well as the former Weyrwoman of Trelis, Inali. This group was lead by Nymari. They succeeded in casting out Noita and a new leadership system was taken up. At the same time in Trelis, however, Iirla fells ill and she and Trelis' last gold leave their people... forever.

    A New Dawn is rising....
    After Iirla's death, the people of Trelis are left to pick up pieces of what was left of their home and their leadership. However, from another Weyr, Noraali and Rikula arrive at Trelis with their Golds as the new Weyrwomen. On the Rebel's island, the Rebellion has become Rindell Weyrhold and a new leadership is chosen.

    Two turns have passed and things seem have settled down, but for how long? Already the seeds of chaos and destruction are beginning to take root and grow. First there was the attempted assassination of Apolla's Lord Holder, and across Pern Holds are changing hands as a wide-spread family begins to flex its power...

    And now this, Garnets misbehaving, shedding blood and rioting more than ever only to become entranced by the birth of the first female of their kind, a female that seems to have the compulsion to control them. The only problem is...who tried to kill her and her brother on their hatching day?

    INDEX .|. HISTORY .|. DRAGONS .|. AVAILABILITY .|. ADVERTISE

    The attempts to eradicate thread have proven successful, and the dragonriders of the past have gone down in the histories as forever ridding Pern of it's mightiest foe. However, they're also the reason for something much worse. While the planet had been saved from Thread, the change made t the red star's orbit has drastically affected the world in a terrifying way. Pern sunk into an ice age, of sorts, and all of that can be beautifully blamed on those brave women and men who destroyed Thread.

    The world is cold. Dragons had shrunk to adapt to the change over the turns, the behemoths of the old days are no more. Colors sprang up eventually, new colors that were far more adaptable to this barren, freezing planet. Technology is scarce, the information provided by AIVAS lost throughout the turns as Holds, Halls and Weyrs had to close their doors, abandon their buildings and band together in Weyrholds. A clever disease wrecked through the dragonriders, and those that were sent out into the cold didn't always get the satisfaction of dying right away.

    Outside of the Weyrholds are the Outlanders, bands of once disease ridden individuals who managed to survive and thrive out in the harsh landscape of Pern. The Outlanders are a dangerous threat, they're unpredictable and move surprisingly fluid amongst themselves. They strike periodically at the Weyrholds for supplies, raiding whatever they can.

    A scant turn ago, Badlands was arguably the most well-off Weyrhold that still existed on Pern. The Outlanders' wrath unfolded quickly. After two botched attempt to savage hatching and stealing weyrlings, they have changed tactics. Prisoners taken by the wings have indicated they have a Queen, though the proof did not come until a small clutch was found, and stolen. Retaliation was quick and deadly; right before snowfall, the crops and harvests have been burned! How will Badlands fight off the Outlanders and survive the winter?

    --------------

    Badlands Weyrhold is a Semi-Canon Dragonriders of Pern Roleplay! We're centered in an AU setting Post-AIVAS. Impression is not sexuality based; our plots are open ended and decided by player interaction. There has just been a massive political upheaval in the wake of an Outlander attack! After the crops were burned and ruined, the Weyrsecond called the council to dispose of the Weyrleader and appoint a temporary leader until the next leadership Flight. The Guarded has ceded from the Weyrhold and declared itself its own entity, resulting in some members leaving. But what does this mean for the Weyrhold? Will it result in a rift?

    We are about to start our plot arc: The War of the Damned. There are SEVEN plot characters lined up for play with colors all over the spectrum. They are categorized by activity expected, and each character has edited line art specifically for that character. The outcome of this plot will shape the face of Badlands as we know it.

    75.05.13
    early evening, after dinner

    Tera smiled to herself. Today was a special day, no matter what the others said. Being the youngest of the Weyrlings who had recently Graduated, she was happy. She was only the age of some of the youngest Candidates now, but she'd know more about dragons than they would at her age. She and another Weyrling, Kokoro, decided to celebrate their Turndays together, due to the recent Wood Flight. There were bound to be eggs on the Sands, and in all that, who would remember the Turnday of a single girl? Kokoro insisted that wasn't a problem, but Tera knew that she wouldn't want her Turnday to be ignored, not when it was her fifteenth Turnday.

    She saw the brightly colored flit before she saw the girl, but she followed the RR Flame flit that was certainly Kokoro's. They'd come in a candlemark after dinner, to make sure everyone was done eating before they started decorating. So what if decorating for your own party was a bad idea? Tera had always done that back at Cliffside. It was something you only got to do for a few Turns, after all. No one had parties once they were an adult. Kokoro was so easygoing that she didn't really care much. She didn't care what others thought.

    They'd made sure invitations had gotten around the Weyr, to their Weyrling classes and then some. They'd started a few sevendays ago, so they could have their flits deliver the invitations for the girls. Uninvited people would be allowed as well, as the invitations were really just a way to start getting word around the Weyr.

    "Kokoro, it's almost time!" Tera told her. Kokoro laughed, stepping down from a stool. She had been hanging decorations.

    "I know!" Kokoro said excitedly. "I guess I'm still a kid at heart if this kind of thing makes me excited, huh?"

    "You're never too old for a Turnday party!" Tera insisted again, as she'd done so many times that evening. "It's always fun! Just like a Gathering!" She laughed and spun, her new skirt from her aunt billowing out around her knees. "My aunt gave me this earlier today. Said it would be perfect for the party."

    "It looks good on you," Kokoro said with a smile. "Your aunt is a very talented weaver."

    "Oh! I think someone's here!" Tera said, looking toward the door.

    INDEX :: HISTORY :: DRAGONS :: AVAILABILITY :: ADVERTISE

    It started at the end of the 8th Pass, Pern had once again survived the fight against thread. As the Interval came and went everyone was preparing for the 9th Pass, but it never came. Thread did not fall during the Turns it was expected to fall, nor the few centuries that followed after. During that time the North was adjusting to a new way of life with the belief that thread was forever gone. The Weyrs were the only ones steadfast in the belief that it wasn't, but with no falls to fight the Weyrs were able both keep in top condition as well as earn their keep.

    As the population of the North grew even within the Weyrs, many were beginning to look South. Yet before any steps toward the other continent could be made Igen Weyr surprised all of Pern with the birth of Copper Tyriath. She was in every way a Queen, born of a golden egg from a golden mother. It was her coloring that was as different as a Blue was to a Bronze and the fact that she impressed to T'len. This caused an uproar with those outside of the Weyrs. During a Conclave of Weyrleaders it was agreed to exile the pair to the South.

    Exiled and followed by those who sympathized they settled in the southern continent and founded Southern Weyr. It wasn't long before others followed by Rider and fellow Pernese, helping to truly settle the southern lands. Then the 9th Pass came and caught everyone by surprise, thankfully Pern survived to see the beginning of the next Interval. During the hectic time of thread the South was all but forgotten. The birth of many Holds, Halls, and even a second Weyr followed the next decades. Not only is the South prospering but there are new colors other than the Copper Queen, this has become such a norm that no one really remembers a time without the new colors in the South.

    Now the South is preparing for the coming of a new Pass. But what is on the winds from the North? Though the North may have forgotten them they have not forgotten the Southern continent, to them a prime place to be settled. What will happen when North once again meets South? And what will happen when the Northern Weyrs are met by the Southern Weyrs?

    ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

    Southern Pern is an AU Dragonriders of Pern RP, where AIVAS was never found and doesn't exist. The South split from the North but is heavily settled. Advancement in the lives of the Southern Pernese and technology are present. There is no sexuality based Impression with both Weyrs of the South open to Members to have fun at! Southern's Weyrwoman has retired and all await for the remaining Gold to rise and appoint the new Weyrleaders. Eastern Weyr's Regent awaits for the next Gold to be born and to lead the Weyr.

    We are a young but eager forum ready to have some fun, there are many available opportunities and soon Southern's Jr. Weyrwoman will be the next Weyrwoman to lead. This means there will be a leadership flight and clutch on the sands. Not only that but we are looking for Southern's Retired Weyrwoman. The Regent's Copper of Eastern Weyr has to clutched! Ya'll know what that means, time to bring in those Candidates. Our 1st Gather, Turn's End Gather, will be held throughout the month of May and everyone is welcome to attend. All Candidates are welcomed, you want a horde of female Riders? Bring them! We welcome all types and either gender of Candidates. As well as Dragonriders or common Pernese!

    Welcome to Southern Pern, where things are not what you expect!

    ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

    .|:|. Current Events .|:|.

    A Weyr In Mourning - No one knows what happened exactly. All that anyone knows is that Jr. Weyrwoman Embry had been seen on the last day of the Gather, yet the state she was in was completely unknown. Later that evening some swore they saw her mount Corinth to return back to Southern. Then as the Gold launched into the air and vanished between the Dragons that remained at the Gather began to keen. Their cries causing their Riders to cry out in turn for the cries of the Dragons were that of a Dragon dead. The name that echoed in the mental cries that only Riders and other Dragons could hear was Corinth has died!, the freak accident and death of a Queen hitting hard. Southern who had much hope for their two Queens is now in mourning. Now the focus is fully on the remaining pair, even as young as they are, they are still the last hope they have for the upcoming Pass. To help Southern grow, to lead, and to produce more Queens who will lead beside them. This is a lot of pressure on the pair, but can you really expect anything else?

    The Clutch of The Regent - As if to counter the lost of a Queen, Eastern has something to celebrate. Copper Vaxiozath and Regent Queen has finally laid her clutch! A healthy fifteen eggs can be seen under the care of the experienced and proud Mother. Though Search has been going on since Vaxiozath's flight, the effort has been doubled. Soon they will be hard enough to hold a Touching, and after that, to Hatch. Many noticed one noticeably large egg, and wonder if maybe this time the Copper has laid another future Queen, maybe a Gold?

    Signs of Thread - In the midst of Winter, the Weyrs have sent out many Sweepwings. Yet none has found any signs of Thread...until now. The weather along the coast being cool and stormy, cold and nippy further south you go, till you hit the mountain ranges covered on snow, has proven as effective as Dragon flame at keeping what are surely signs of Thread, at bay. This warning now has both Weyrs preparing when the weather will soon be warming up to Spring. When Thread will fall freely and thus the Dragons will rise and flame once again.

    ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

    .|:|. OOC Notes .|:|.

    Leadership Flight - With Southern's remaining junior due to rise on June 7th the role of Weyrleader is up for grabs! Southern Weyr still has slots available for the creation of adult bronzeriders who could claim this spot - and lead the Weyr into the Pass!

    Eastern's Hatching - Copper Vaxiozath's clutch of fifteen is scheduled to begin hatching on June 14th and there is still time to create a candidate to get in on the action.

    Gather - The Turn's End gather is running throughout the month of May with many contests and special events for characters to enjoy.
