It was one of her better days. She'd woken up with a sense of clarity not usually afforded her, so Kaya had decided to make the most of it. She'd had her fair of three firelizards take inviting notes to those she knew. Still, there were a lot of new people about the Weyr and though she didn't have the time nor the mind to meet them all, she wasn't opposed to a well mannered youngster stopping by either.
Best of all she'd gotten word from her children, and they'd been able to make plans to come to dinner. It was a happy day. One to be enjoyed fully.
So the retired Rider, silver hair wrapped up and perched on her head, waited with a cup of hot tea in front of her. The tray was made up nicely with little sweet things spread about and a pot of the warm drink in the center.
KayaLove, would you like me to check in with any of them? See if they'll be arriving soon? Kayleth asked kindly. She was still snugged up in the weyr. It was still the cool time in the south and while her Rider could wear warmer clothes, she didn't have such things (and it would look silly besides).
I'm content with my tea, Kayleth. If no one comes we'll know who to ask, Kaya replied calmly. Sliki had curled up in her lap and was napping much like the felines some folks had. Kaya took a sip of her tea and enjoyed the waking feeling of the cool breeze coming across the ledge. Cool, but manageable, for today at least. she thought to herself, stirring something sweet in the tea with a little spoon.
