After dark
Prrrrrrrrrrrr! Ethilask was jumping out into the lower caverns, following right at the tail of a mottled brown bird, who may or may not have been just out of her reach. The Black-Gray Wher didn’t seem to think it was impossible, but she didn’t seem to have a particularly good point from which to jump off of.
Syne was aware of the Wher on his tail, but was more focused on what was before him. His large reflective eyes were on the White Firelizard he saw before him, which was bolting away at a quick pace. He was a lot bigger then it was, he was confident that he could get it, even without surprise.
Arc was just scared. She had no idea WHY the scary- brown-flying-feathered-thing wanted her or why black-gray-scary-cousin was after her either. All she could think of was to keep moving. She was a touch too flustered to actually realize it was probably be best to skip between to escape them. This moment was much too chaotic for that.
A loud, high pitched whistle broke the air and Arc, Syne and Ethilask screeched to a halt, looking back at the tall, very annoyed man that was glaring at the lot of them. Lan stomped forward, whistling a series of orders. Arc skittered over to him, unsure of what to do, completely sure that she would be safe if she hid in his vest. Syne obediently flew to his glove, preening the moment he got there. He did keep an eye on the frightened firelizard though. Ethilask sat down and eyed the owl with some displeasure. She didn’t like this one bit. She wanted to play with it. It was flying and fun. She got interrupted with a stroke along her head.
Prrrrrrrrrrrr. Lan sighed lightly as he pet Ethilask. He was going to go mad if every moment he didn’t keep an eye on them they descended into chaos like this. He could handle them (mostly) if he was around them, but he really would rather he could turn around to feed them for a second. After he stroked her for as long as he felt necessary he whistled again and started walking, Ethilask following at his side. He reached into his pocket and took out the strips of meat with one hand and started to feed Arc as they walked. Syne eyed them but didn’t deviate from his preening. He was far too well trained for stealing. Still, the four of them were in a very precarious balance, waiting for any small thing to upset it all. This was not getting much easier.
