He watched the chaos unveil with each and every egg crack. R'niaan shook his head as he stood at the top of the stands with the other riders. This is completely chaotic and obviously all these Weyrlings are too scared to do anything. Then again if they move they are mauled... R'niaan mind spoke to his dragon.
As if you're telling me something I don't know...these Hatchlings lost their siblings. Terrified and angry is all they know, look at the emotions they were born into. Bamath coldly replied, he was no happier with the destroying of the eggs than the rest of the Weyr.
I guess we need to make our way to the outside so we can introduce ourselves to the Weyrlings... R'niaan stated moments later, he turned and walked out behind him, down a corridor and out to the ledge where he could see Bamath flying in from their weyr ledge.
R'niaan took a path down to the entrance to the Sands where the Weyrlings came out to feed their dragonets and oil them. Bamath was waiting on him, eyes swirling an array of blues, pale yellow and grey. R'niaan knew his dragon was concerned for the Weyrlings they were about to take charge of even though the only bright side was there would not be as many to train their first go-round.
R'niaan saw one of the Weyrlings had already started to feed his dragonet and oil him; obviously the boy had attended Hatching and watched the aftermath. R'niaan stared at the tables before him, roughing up his hair and then massaging his temples with his index finger and thumb of his right hand.
He looked up, hearing the cheers that other dragonets had impressed and he felt a lightening in his and Bamath's heavy spirits.
Looks like we have more Weyrlings who will be joining us soon...but one is missing a tail? Bamath was slightly confused that one of the dragonets had managed to bite another's tail off.
R'niaan stood next to his dragon's lowered head and said, Think I should go check on the situation?
Yes, mine.
On it... R'niaan let his mind trail off as he started walking inside to the Sands. He saw the young Blue dragonet had Impressed the Lord Holder's son, and then a Citrine impress the crazy girl who came between the Blue and Flame.
R'niaan ran over to the LifeWing Rider and Garna, "Someone needs to get over to that dragonet before he loses too much ichor and we have suicide case on our hands!" R'niaan demanded as he squatted down to check on Garna. Yes, he knew he sounded rather mean but this girl seemed to be fairing better than that dragonet.
