K'nan was definitely shirking duty a little right now... he was tired and he needed some rest... so he had gone for a cup of klah and found his way down to the bowls of the lower caverns where he found a nice place to hole up, leaning his back against some crates and folding his legs. He ignored his dragon in the back of his mind who called him lazy and just tried to sleep. He'd find Lylore later... then he'd talk to Rilora and the new Weyrleader he couldn't recall meeting.
He didn't pay any mind to what was going on outside of this room. It wsan't like him to shirk duties though. Just hte opposite. And it wasn't like it was normal for him to avoid his friends either... but of course that wsan't exactly what he was doing... He just needed a little time to unwind and catch up on some rest. He hadn't had a chance to really relax in a while...
Embraeth huffed as he curled up on his couch in their weyr. They'd all think his was here and then bug him about where hewas. The dragon wanted rest too. If they ask for you, I'm going to tell them exactly where you are. The Bronze's tone was so neutral it was hard to tell if he was upset or not. He was a big beast and generally quite relaxed.
K'nana chucked. As if I'd ever expect anything less.
He wondered what Lylore had been up to. the kid needed to get over his fear of dragons and Impress one of his own... maybe a cute little green or something. He was mute, but he was smart. K'nan rather took a shine to him.

Why was he here again? He couldn't recall, but it didn't really matter, his nose was leading him and he smelled something familiar. There was a cockroach he was following too, it skittered along the wall and he watched it, wondering where it was taking him. Maybe it could smell it too?
Originally he had come down here to get some water, which he held in a cup, but as soon as he stepped into one of the many storage areas in the Lower Caverns, the cup ended up on the floor. K'nan was there. Right there, in front of him. The first emotion he felt boiled up, and he could do nothing to voice his anger, so instead he ran at him and began hitting him- though not very painfully- on the shoulder. Why didn't he tell him he was here?!
WHERE HAD HE EVEN GONE?!
Once he had hit him five or six times, he huffed and crossed his arms, then plopped next to him on the crate. Oh how he wished he could swear at him right now.
I can't believe it! You come back here and you don't even tell me you're home? Now he felt hurt. He had been gone so long, Lylore hadn't had anybody to talk to. Not that he could, but it was nice to hear a voice he didn't mind, as opposed to all of those useless voices around the Weyr. They all couldn't bear to shut up for five whole minutes, try not being able to ever speak!
He turned his head to look at K'nan... He looked tired, but his legs weren't broken and he was sure the man knew he was here, like always, somewhere in the Weyr. Why hadn't he come and told him? His upset was washing away, and in came the happiness to see his friend once more. A bit bittersweet though. He sighed softly, very softly in fact, his sighs were usually nearly inaudible.
K'nan was back.

K'nan woke startled and being hit. Who was hititng him and why!? It didn't hurt... so... he didn't worry about it too much.... But he recognized Lylore. He stared at him. He comprehended that his young friend was angry... and then something else... K'nan sat up and stretched. "Hey Lylore... I'm sorry about leaving on you and not telling you right when I got back... Just watned a nap... but I guess that was pretty selfish, huh?" He rubbed the back of his neck then reached over and pulled Lylore into a brief hug. "I missed you, kid," he said, grinning. He was half teasing.
{He really did... of course I think I missed you more, Lylore.} Embraeth said to Lylore. {You should come to the weyr and spend the night with us, Lylore.} The dragon sounded a bit sleepy, but what did you expect, really with all that he and hsi rider had only jsut arrived this morning for the end of the hatching. K'nan was keeping an eye on Lylore right then. He wasn't going to be leaving the young man any time soon.

He felt an arm go around him and for a second he started, and as he was pulled into the hug he nearly hit the man again. It wasn't that he didn't want to be hugged, he just hated being touched. Frowning, he let him have his hug and pulled back, looking away again. He knew K'nan had missed him, but it really was selfish of him. He could have simply told Lylore he was tired and he would have let him have his rest.
Something made his spine crawl, and he sat up straight, when suddenly he heard Embraeth's voice agian. He really did need to warn him before blurting out like that, it was terribly startling. But he didn't get angry over it, instead he just nodded slowly. He was sure the bronze could feel his acceptance. He would go, if only to make sure that K'nan got his what-for, which was a bit more drawn out with somebody who couldn't shout at a person when they were mad.
But he himself could have used a nice break from all the walking he'd done today, and it was getting rather late. The cockroach that had been on the wall scurried up his back and onto his cheek. He grabbed it, letting it crawl around on his arm instead. Silly thing, he didn't care what was going on as long as he had food. Many bugs were like that though. After a few seconds of running about he let the thing go, leaning down to place his hand on the floor. It scurried off and away, back down the tunnel.
If only we could be as simple as you, he thought to himself, sighing again. He looked once more back to K'nan, his face stating simply that he had better make it up to him somehow. Standing, he offered a hand to help the tired man up.

K'nan grinned and held onto him tightly for a moment. "Alright... I guess we're headed to my weyr... .aNd I'll have to figure out how to make it up to you..." He seemed to be thinking already as Lylore let the cockroach run around. He certainly was an interesting guy.... and he had such a gentle spirit despite what many would perceive... and eve nwhat K'nan thought from time to time. And then, of course, the kid put up with him, which was much more than what he could say for some of his fellow riders, quite honestly. At lesat anymore...
Embraeth crooned softly. {I will take you up in the air with me - and K'nan will be with you to make sure you are safe. Would you like that, Lylore?} the dragon asked him, repositioning himself to watch for them coming to the weyr. The big beast was rather happy that they were both coming.
K'nan took Lylore's hand to help him up. "How about I start making amends now... climb on my back, Lylore," he said. he was tired, but this wasn't beyond him. Besides... Lylore was not exactly a big guy. He smiled at him. Of course, he knew how Lylore felt about beign touched... but he was hoping he could at least get him to trust him... and get him okay with the idea of being touched even just actually every now and then.

Lylore looked at the man strangely as his dragon asked about flying, he wasn't quite sure. It sounded terrifying, really, but... He would have to wait and see. After all, K'nan did promise him a ride at some point, and he would be less scared of riding a big dragon than a tiny one that he could fall off of much easier. But then K'nan offered for him to ride the man instead, and he laughed silently.
Well, if he was offering...
The male moved behind him and climbed aboard, making sure he was holding onto his shoulders tightly. He rested his cheek on the back of the man's neck.
Welcome home.
He really had missed K'nan, it was very lonely for him at the Weyr. He didn't have many friends, because everybody here was such a social group. He occasionally found somebody to talk to him, mostly to teach him things, and one of his favorite people was actually the Candidate Master and her Blood dragon. Zojiroth was an interesting creature to him, because they were so similar. Most people didn't see either of them as equals because of the nature of their births. He was born without a voice, and Zojiroth was born a Dark Dragon. And besides, the dragon was just as strange as he was!
But K'nan's bronze was a different story, he was always trying to make a good impression. He was a dragon, Lylore's opinion of him wasn't going to sway one way or the other. He disliked dragons for many reasons, but he was mostly just still getting used to them.
