Artemis didn't like the first rule. What if what he said was stupid, or she knew that it would be dangerous to do? But agreeing to it now didn't mean she would have to stick by it, especially if she saw something he didn't. She could try to listen to it.
But if something he ordered put Zabrielth or herself in danger in a way he couldn't see - or couldn't hear - she wouldn't listen.
But still, she nodded to the first rule, keeping silent once again. The pause hovered between this until L'ras cleared his throat.
"Now, for the second rule. As a junior Weyrwoman, your opinion on matters is an important one, and I expect nothing less from you during our lessons together. Once you've shown that you can follow orders, no matter what they are, you are free to begin questioning them. Everything I will be giving to you, whether that's an order or the training itself, will be a test. It's up to you to decide whether or not it's something you want to follow. If you do not, you are required to provide a better solution."
A smile flickered over Artemis' face. That made much more sense to her than the first rule - and even though part of her was braced to defy L'ras the moment she suspected something might go wrong, she could follow the first order for a bit.
Teth's voice purposefully filled her mind, and when he finished, Artemis let her gaze drift over to where her little Azure sat on the ground. The dragonet tilted her head to the side, and the two didn't have to say words to each other to communicate their mutual agreement.
Artemis looked back up at L'ras. "I can agree to both of those things. And I think I know what I'm getting into - you don't have to worry about that."
Zabrielth nodded her head in agreement to her Rider's statement as Artemis smiled, the anger from earlier completely gone from her face. There was still some fire in her eyes.
Though, to be fair, there was always fire in her eyes.
