Name: Tarakuro Ridgeborn
Pronunciation: Tah rah koo roe
Gender: male
Age: 16 turns
Turnday: 60.07.08 (Just double checking. I'd like his turnday to be Hatchday that's coming up 16 turns ago.
Weyr: Telgar
Rank: Dragon Candidate
Family: Foster mother, Ashtina: cook. Birth family unknown.
Friends: Anyone he comes into contact with is considered a friend by the large youth.
Pets: None
Appearance: Tarakuro is a tall and rather well built young man. At 16 turns he is already brushing the underside of six feet and weighs in at right around 180 pounds. He is rather muscular but most of his muscle tone is fairly lean leading one to believe he is less concerned with being muscular as he is with being healthy. Yet from the tone in his muscles, one can bet he is fairly physically strong. His skin is a medium tan in color speaking of quite a bit of time spent outside in the sun. He typically takes up a rather relaxed stance and not much gets him to where he is rigid with attention.
His facial features are rather curved and gentle. A smile is hardly ever far from his lips, and typically his happiness reaches his eyes and makes then warm with his delight. Yet even as he can be warm and friendly, he can also be harsh and angry, albeit it is usually in a quiet manner. His eyes are a deep brown in color, usually the warm color of molten chocolate. Yet at other times they can be hard as stone beneath those slender brows just depending on the circumstance. His hair is typically cut short and it is black as a raven’s wing. He finds long hair is unruly and merely gets in the way, hence he keeps it cropped to a comfortable shorter length.
Tarakuro’s body is more or less unscathed despite some close calls. His skin is a warm tan and fairly smooth. He does have one minor scar across the back of his right hand where too close a call with an incredibly sharp knife was concerned, but other than that, he remains unmarred for the time being. His hands are hardened and slightly calloused, obvious signs that the boy works outside. He is always willing to help with any task, especially the physical ones as his mind really holds nothing for detail work nor anything tedious. It irritates him, even though one would be fairly certain he could perform whatever task is thrown his way.
He is in no way wealthy, so he dresses rather simply, nothing extravagant. Then again, even if he has money, one would wonder if he would dress differently. He very much values comfort and functionality over fashionable. He walks and moves with an air of confidence. His head is typically held high showing no fear or uncertainty in his gait.

Personality: To describe Tarakuro is slightly difficult. Tarakuro is a very kind person. Very well willing to help others in need. He's a fairly calm and quiet individual with a warm smile never far from his face. Tarakuro is rather slow to anger but woe be to you if you manage to find your way onto the wrong side of his ire.
Tarakuro is an incredibly charming young man with a silver tongue. He is very gentlemanly and chivalrous. Courteous in word and deed. Some may feel it's very old fashioned but Tarakuro still highly holds the belief that a woman should always be treated as a lady and does just as such.
Tarakuro strives to be liked by all. Doing his best to remain on the good side of everyone. Yes, he is naturally kind hearted, but there is also a more political motive behind Tarakuros kind gestures and such. He is a highly intelligent young man and very 'people savvy'. It is often difficult for one to find much to fault this young man with. Being liked by all is sort of a game for the large youth, one that he abhors losing. But he has built a reputation with many as bring a generally all around nice young man.
Tarakuro does care a little too much about what people think of him and it hurts him deeply when he knows that someone honestly has a quarrel with him. But over all he is strong and sure. He shows some strong leadership tendencies as long as he can calm down and really figure out who he is and how he wants to be. But for now he's uncertain and has no clear direction for himself.
Tarakuro can be a bit of a goofball when he's relaxed, yet in the same breath, he can be quite serious and fiercely protective of those he cares about.
History: As far as Tarakuro knows, he was Weyr born and Weyr bred. At least this was what his foster mother let him believe. He has lived in the Weyr as long as he could remember, running around with the other Weyrbrats, shouldering Weyr responsibilities, even standing as a candidate when it was time. But none of his peers our even himself know that his past and family were different indeed.
Tarakuro was actually born to a pair of people who had chosen to lead a nomadic life away from any Weyr, Craft, or Hold. They made a life for themselves, as self sufficient as they could be. They were happy with this and were raising their family in kind. Tarakuro was the fifth child out of five and but a toddler when disaster struck. Both parents succumbed to the same illness and were taken from this world leaving the three younger ones in the hands of the two elder children; twins of 16 turns. Yet the trouble for Tarakuro was not yet to be ceased. The five were caught out in an incredible storm. Tarakuro got separated from the rest and at only three turns old, didn't know what to do.
Once the storm subsided, Tarakuro found himself alone and lost. But as fate would have it, that stage wasn't to last long and he was found by a rider that had known his parents and had received no further correspondence from them, becoming worried. He had indeed had good reason for such and having visited only to find their small home empty, and two fresh graves upon the grounds but no other bodies, he set to searching for the children. By his dragons reckoning, they were still alive.
It was soon after that the rider had come across young frightened Tarakuro and gathered him up. He had been unable to find the others and it is as of yet unknown if they are even still alive. But as for Tarakuro, he was taken to the Weyr. A kind young woman agreed to take him in as her own. And as such he was raised in the Weyr.
Growing up, Tarakuro became rather well liked by most he met. It was rare that he found ire in anyone's eyes as a child. He was kind and learned quickly. His foster mother was sweet and quiet mannered but she insisted on manners in her household. Tarakuro complied willingly. As he grew, he helped in the kitchens, but always felt a draw to join the ranks of the dragon riders. Day after day, he got to watch the majestic beats and as soon as he was able, he began standing for clutches. There was little doubt in anyone's mind that he would eventually be chosen. Yet it has been turns and Tarakuro still finds himself a candidate. Yet turns have not tempered Tarakuros eagerness and he still holds the knowledge that his dragon is waiting to meet him. It was simply a matter of time. And thus he would patiently wait for his time and his dragon.
Adoption?: If I disappear and Tarakuro is needed for a plot he can be adopted out.
Dragon Preferences:
Dragon Preferences:
Preferred Colors | I honestly think that you guys know best. Tarakuro doesn't have a preference, and feels that he will know what color he wants when his lifemate finds him. I would kind of like to see Tarakuro with a king. But I'm good either way. An iron, and dream also caught my eye as well. But whatever you guys think. | Honestly I just think it would be neat for Tarakuro to bond with a king as that would bring out the hidden leadership tendencies and such. Iron would be one that Tarakuro would feel the need to protect until he saw him fight. A dream would be a neat complimentary to the protective aspect of him. But whatever you guys think. |
Cross Impression? | Either way | nope |
Preferred Type(s) of Dragon/Rider Pair | Either really but I don't have many ideas outside of complimentary really. | None |
Preferred Personality Traits | protective and strong willed, perhaps gentlemanly and such. Probably nothing dark, although that to could be interesting. Or perhaps gentle and sweet. Something Tarakuro needs to protect. I don't prefer that as I already have that in T'lok and Lizeth. | I'm not set on anything as of yet. |
Mauling | Yes | No killing or permanent damage. |
