F’mil let a satisfied sigh escape him as he closed the book. A tale of betrayal and revenge. Quite a good one too, he would highly recommend it to someone who didn’t mind unpleasant endings. Delgeth dozed behind him, a sleeping backrest for his afternoon reading. He leaned back, looking at the Bowl lazily. There was enough of a breeze to make it cool, especially in the shade. He never minded though, it was good weather for reading.
A Bronze appeared in the sky. F’mil watched it circle slowly down and let out a long breath. Azagoth. So, T’dayn was back. He pushed himself up and gave the red hide behind him a pat before walking toward the newly returned pair. If F’mil was the official unofficial liaison to Rainbow Mists, T’dayn was the same but for Igen. It made sense, Telgar wasn’t on either side yet, but that didn’t mean it would stay that way. Or if it did, that there weren’t bigger games to play.
“T’dayn.” F’mil approached the other man as he disembarked, who turned and gave a nod to the other Kingrider.
“F’mil.” He turned back to tend to his Bronze, working with the straps as he continued to talk. “Looking for gossip from Igen?”
“Well if you offer it.” A formal smile naturally formed on F’mil’s face, though T’dayn didn’t do much more then give a brief and humorless chuckle.
“Nothing new. I do not stay long enough to swap stories with the kitchen staff.” A gentle enough jab at F’mil. Nothing worth mentioning.
“So we continue to do powerful nothing, eh?” T’dayn looked up at that and gave a small smile that didn’t reach his eyes.
“We have to flap pretty hard to stay in place with these winds.”
“Hmm.” Not that T’dayn wasn’t completely right. He was. Neither of them were in a big enough position to be more then letter carriers though. “Well good work today.”
“I thought you said we were doing nothing?”
“Powerful nothing is its own sort of something.” T’dayn snorted again, but F’mil just sort of waved and T’dayn nodded him off.
“Have fun gossiping with the other old wives.” F’mil went back to Delgeth with a more genuine smile. Ah, well no news was good news he supposed. Falling on either side of powerful nothing wasn’t in his plans.
Still, hard to say how long it would stay that way.
