I think you could say that a good portion of them have a tendency to mate for life, but may/will take new mates if their mate dies. There needs to be some rule to it otherwise there might be all mated pairs and just a handful of switch-it-up LifeWings.
I don't think they should be as completely mate-flexible as dragons, especially Greens, but perhaps not -as- rigid as for life? Which goes back to maybe, "a few mate for life but others will pair of in long term partnerships" and then perhaps if they have issues they break up.
