Svak made her way through the crowed to the food table and loaded a plate up with all the goodies. It was sort of her breakfast anyways. She found a seat somewhere out of the way of the majority of the heavy croweds but still had a good view of everyone and the dancers.
Do you dance SvakMine? Tsubareth asked. He was skulking around the door unable to go in and not really wanting to with all the people around. He wasn't shy he just didn't want to be in a place where he didn't really have to be if it was busy.
Ha! I can not dance at all. But I am content to watch.
Which she did. Noting everyone, the dancers, the conversers, the people hideing in the corner looking quite miserable. She noticed K'tar as one of the dancers, R'le, the cloud rider who had found the firelizard clutch, as one of the conversers. It was so busy in here, so many colors swirling around. Whether it was material swishing as dancers swung across the floor or firelizards swooping in and out of the crowds before slicing up through the air above everyones heads. It was indeed a nice thing to watch.

K’tar had joined in Chan’s laugh, though it had taken a second for him to do so. He knew that the whole situation probably looked funny, and sounded funnier, but being in the middle of it meant that it took a second or so for the funny aspect to get past the “I can’t believe this is happening” aspect.
The laughter changed to a different kind of smile, as she leaned against him. They danced for a few steps like that, K’tar enjoying the sense of protectiveness, strength, and even power that filled him as he allowed himself to hold Chan a little tighter. Unfortunately, the moment was not to last. Chantrea’s two firelizards started hissing, and though their ire seemed directed elsewhere, K’tar eased the pressure of his arms slightly. Chan immediately asked if they could move, so K’tar took advantage of a several beat traveling step to move them over, as well as to turn them so that he was facing the way that Chantrea had been. Maybe it was a bad idea, but he wanted to see what, or who, it was that had so rattled her and the firelizards.
At first, he didn’t see anything out of place, but then, as he returned his gaze to Chan, he saw something out of the corner of his eye and turned his head back, his eyes locking on a woman in green and brown clothes, whose whole face and frame looked so much like Chan’s that…
K’tar swallowed. He let his gaze come unfocused slightly as the woman turned towards them, so that she wouldn’t be able to tell if he was looking at her or just in her general direction. She was standing next to another woman, also in green and brown, who turned around at a tap on the shoulder and looked right at him, and at Chantrea. K’tar felt the blood slipping from his face. The second woman’s eyes were exact replicates of Chantrea’s almond shaped ones.
What are they doing here? K’tar asked himself, licking his lips against their sudden dryness. He suddenly wished his friends from Stormy Plains were in the room, for he could have signaled them to watch the two woman without giving anything away. He didn’t even feel Viarth come to an absolute halt in his dance with Qui, nor did he even notice that the Purple had seen what he did.
Mine, these are dangerous-bad-people-criminals, Viarth warned, aware of his rider’s intent to attempt to find out what the two were doing. Unspoken also was Viarth’s belief that they should report not only this, but what Chan had said earlier.
No! K’tar ordered. No, Chan trusted us with the information, and she said her family might have allies here. On no account will we tell anyone else anything about it! Bending his head towards Chantrea, he whispered: “Are you sure that they haven’t said anything else to you, or that there wasn’t something else in that letter?” His gaze was intense, the cast of the light making his eyes look like steel.
Chan had been enjoying her time held tightly and protectively in K'tar's arms. She didn't want it to end, but of course... her sisters had to ruin it. Ruin everything. She didn't feel safe now. She didn't feel the budding happiness. She only felt dread.
And as he saw them, she just... had that feeling. the feeling of dread in the pit of her stomach. What now?
Chantrea wished she had a dagger in her boot... or hidden in her bodice or sleeve. But, unfortunately, she didn't carry such things these days. Not that a candidate would normally be allowed to anyways.
She ventured a gaze back as one of the two women approached - the younger and the shorter of the two, Cahlet. She didn't dare show weakness now. No that would mean death for sure, but imperceptibly she tighterned her grip on Ktar.
Chan looked at him. "I'm sure. There wasn't." She bit her lip. "I never... sent a message back. If I had said know... that would have brought them for sure... but... I didn't." The words were a quiet intense whisper as she looked up at him. "I think I'm going to have to go talk to them.... before they get much closer..." She bit her lip.
She kissed his cheek gently and moved to pull away and turn towardds the approaching Cahlet, an expressionless look on her face. Her two flitters were hissing and ready to get rid of these two. "Or... maybe.... we should go... spend some time with dragons... they probably won't mess with us then... so.. if they don't leave..."

K’tar felt Chan’s grip tighten, and responded by gently tightening his own. The second woman, the one with Chan’s eyes, was approaching. His eyes narrowed as he watched her come closer. She had no business here; Chan was no longer a part of that madness. If this woman thought she could just come in here and interrupt the dance, well, she could think again.
“If they want to talk, they can do it after this dance,” K’tar whispered back. “Around a whole lot of people, all of whom are watching to make sure nothing happens.” He had relaxed when Chan kissed him, but he still retained enough presence of mind to pull against Chan’s movement, not really hard, just a way of asking her not to turn, a way of letting her know that he didn’t want her to go over there. All told, he liked Chan’s second suggestion a lot more.
“It would be nice to go visit the dragons, perhaps after this dance,” he replied, leading Chan through another traveling step that moved them away from the approaching woman, though he positioned them once more so that at least one of them could see her at all times.
"I got myself into this?!" Holt responded, affronted, face incredulous. "Didn't we just finish agreeing that K'tar's the reason I'm here?" The new song had a faster beat, it made it harder to talk and move at the same time. Still, despite his distant worry that Mau might actually outlast him in dances, he was having a wonderful time. Some of this falsely-angry sarcasm would have to find K'tar later. It was really the most appropriate method of thanks, anyhow, considering-
Still the dance got faster and Holt recognized it - after almost being hit by the one pair next to him just to step back into a flying hand from another couple - that it was a spin dance. He resisted rubbing his face, he still had to be a good dance partner. "Do you know this style?" he asked. He didn't want to throw her into the air when the next musical cue came just to find out she wasn't familiar with spin dances. Then he might actually be in real trouble.
He was just about to take a goodly sip of his drink when a lower than average weight slammed into his side, sending most of his drink across the front of his dark shirt and the rest ended up across and in his boots. Frell it, that was just the best possible way to start a Gather! He turned his silvery pale gaze towards the attack, only to find himself looking down on a very wide eyes young girl. Well, couldn't get upset at a child, even if she'd been at fault. And at least he'd worn a black tunic today and not a white one or else he'd really be in a bind. "Are you alright?" Clearly she was, by the way her mouth started up and hardly stopped long enough for breath. Chuckling, he plucked at his wet tunic "Sheamus. Yes. And only Masters do that. My gran-da doen't even use tongs anymore, just picks his work straight out of the furnace" He smirked a bit devilishly at the fib, wondering if the girl was gullible enough to believe it or if she'd call him out "Whats your name, girl?" Holding back his amusment was pointless, he was smirking like the fool and more than a bit astounded by the amount of energy the child had. He remembered having a similar amount of unending energy at about that age. He'd been in trouble about every other day at that age!

Sheamus, Candidate & Apprentice Smith with Purple Mistborn
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable, I was just curious.”
D’gan thought fast. There wasn’t much he could say that would cover up his faux pas – who even brings up such a dimglow question like that?! – but it was worth a try.
“Seems things have worked out well, haven’t they? Considering what’s happened, I mean. I respect you all the more for it.” It wasn’t the worst he had ever come up with, but it wasn't his best, either. It would have to do.
Glad for the change of topic, he smiled. “I would love to. I’ll let him know,” he said, balancing the act of keeping in time with the dance with speaking to his dragon.
Mosiliath, could you relay me the images that Ayleneth sends you?
Oh, we’re speaking? Good to know. How is the dance coming along? How are you? You haven’t made a scene, have you?
Of course not…Well, I don’t think I have. And I’m not sure what I feel right now.
Naturally.
So would you send me the images when you get them?
That isn’t a problem for me. What is Ayleneth sending me images for?
Minding where he stepped, D’gan gave Yuki an apologetic look for taking so long. I asked about Ice Stone and Yuki said she would let Ayleneth show us. You’ll be able to see it as well. By accident, his hand slid a few inches lower as they moved around. He glanced down, momentarily distracted by the movement. Couldn't hurt, right? he thought to himself. He brought his gaze back up to Yuki’s and left his hand where it was.
This should be exciting. I shall eagerly await Ayleneth’s images.
He nodded an affirmation to her. “Mosiliath is ready whenever you are.”

((Tag Sheamus))
At some point, Talira realized that the man she’d bumped into, one Sheamus, had asked her if she was alright, so she nodded. Not that he’d be able to tell in response to what, but what else was an overly energetic ten Turn old to do? Talira was, actually, gullible enough to believe Sheamus’s story, as she promptly demonstrated by swallowing it whole.
“That is soo cool!” she exclaimed. Never having seen Smiths at work, she really didn’t understand how hot one had to get metal before it could be pounded into shape. “How do you learn to do it? Or is it one of those trade secrets that only Craft-Masters know? I’m Talira, pleased to make your acquaintance. Have you met Archith yet? She’s the big Gold Queen and…” Talira’s voice trailed off for a fraction of a second, as a chirp from her back reminded her of another that would like to meet Sheamus the Candidate and Smith.
“Oh, and that’d be Moril, saying hi.” She glanced over her shoulder, adding: “Come on Moril, you can poke your head up here.”
A Crimson flitt’s head appeared from behind Talira’s shoulder, pushing through the screen made from the girl’s blonde hair. The head cocked to one side, then another, and was slowly pushed forward a little further. Finally, the flitt chirped and launched off Talira’s back to go hover in front of Sheamus for the purpose of saying hello.

Yuki nodded, a small motion of her head. "The ones back home were amazed when I came home with Ayleneth the first time," she remembered. "They didn't expect a girl like me to Impress. The looks on their faces..." She laughed softly.
After the confirmation from Dgan, Yuki contacted Ayleneth. I'm going to send you some pictures from Ice Stone. I'd like you to share them with Mosiliath, if you would please. There was a half-formed reply from the sleepy Aurora, then the connection was completed.
First, the gate. The base of the walls surrounded by snow, portions of the walls iced over.
Next, the Weyrbowl as Yuki remembered it. Dragons of every color laying about, the Weyrbrats playing in the snow. The WeyrlingMaster giving a lesson in the southern end of the field. Smoke rising from the kitchen as the dinner was prepared. But... It was more than this. This was the day her brother had joined the Candidates.
The change was quick. The Weyrbowl again, but from a window. There were no lessons that day, not outside at least. The snow on the ground was fresh, and there were Weyrbrats playing in this new coat of white on the ground. The scene turned, as Yuki had turned her head. Sanshe. The Weyrwoman, as Yuki had last seen her.
"You're sure about this?" Sanshe asked, her voice similar to that of a mother who's child was moving out.
"Yes, Weyrwoman," was Yuki's reply. "I want to see more of Pern. This place... It holds dark memories for me."
"I understand," Sanshe replied kindly. "I grant you your request, with the understanding that you will write to your brother every few sevendays." The scene shifted again, showing the wooden door to Sanshe's office. "Oh, and Yuki..."
"Yes, my Weyrwoman?"
"Do not forget that Ice Stone will always be open to you, should you decide to return."
Ayleneth reached for Mosiliath's mind, reveling in the feel of it after so long without. She waited until he was ready, then began sharing with him the memories Yuki had specified, along with one of her own from her many times flying above the Weyr of her birth. Among the memories, though, was the ever-present exhaustion from having flown from Ista to Rainbow Mists, with multiple stops of course, without being able to go between due to Yuki's pregnancy. She also shared with Mosiliath that Yuki intended to keep the child, but suggested that he not share with His just yet.
Adelia was humming softly to herself as she fed her Blue, who was eating massive quantities of the tiny bits of sweetroll she was allowing him. The first time she'd given him a whole one, he'd nearly choked on it in his eagerness, so since then, she hadn't allowed him more than a morsel at a time. Beam was munching away on her shoulder, much better behaved and therefor allowed a whole one, her pale, golden yellow hide gleaming softly, just enough firelight hitting it to give the false impression she WAS Gold, rather than a Sunlance. __________________
Laria had finally found herself a seat away from too many people, allowing her some respite from the constant startlement of having other humans come up on her blind side. Theia was perched on that shoulder, diligently keeping watch, and Tanzanite had settled to her other one, and was nuzzling her cheek, sensing her distress and apprehension. So many people, and who KNEW what they-especially the menfolk who were drinking so much wine-might want come the night's end. Too used to selling herself for good coin, she was having to learn still how NOT to think that way, even though it had been some time since she'd been forced to do such things. For the moment, she was wary, and she shifted uneasily as a man lurched towards her, obviously drunk. "Hey cutie! How you doin?" he asked in a slurred tone, and she made a face, both of her flitters hissing threateningly as they sensed her distaste. __________________
Ylara was quiet, humming softly to herself and her Fire-Lizard, asleep in her lap, as she stroked the soft hide, tracing the pale pink edging on her wings, the little bit of pink on her head. She was a beautiful flitter, she thought idly, and sensed Orylth's agreement.

"You may," Lithena replied, amused. That show-offy FlameRider asking her for a dance. Well, with any luck he was as good a dancer. She followed him to the dance floor and shifted in the empty space between songs to the old beat. Too soon the next piece started up and they launched into a dance. Yes, T'kar did have some dancing skills. Lithena smiled the whole time. This was a party, and parties and having fun went together. She enjoyed the feeling of her skirt moving about with the dance. The place was a bit warm and the music too loud for her taste to talk over, but it was a good volume to hear just what the musicians were doing, so she enjoyed that instead.
The song ended and without asking, she squeezed T'kar's hand and dragged him over towards the food so they could have a word a bit further from the music. The noise level wasn't much better, but it would just have to do. "Having fun?" she asked, her characteristic and often present smile still on her face. Everything about her gave a resounding yes to her own question.

T’kar had seriously enjoyed dancing with Lithena, which was something that he hadn’t gotten a chance to do before. She could definitely dance, which made the whole thing that much better. The music volume had prevented conversation, but as soon as the dance was over, Lithena had led him over towards the food (not that he was making any protests) where the volume was quieter by enough that conversation was, just barely, manageable. Of course, he snagged, and taken a bite out of, a redfruit right before she spoke, so his answer was delayed while he quickly chewed and swallowed the very juicy morsel.
You’re as bad as the flitts.
I am not! I just missed lunch.
Ancalanath replied with a feeling of feigned incredulity, which nearly had T’kar rolling his eyes.
“Of course I’m having fun,” he replied, a beat behind the unanimous yes. “I did just get to usurp your attention for an entire dance.” He was grinning as he spoke, and he sketched a little bow at the end. “What of yourself? The party up to your standards?”
Rilora listened to R'le but her eye was caught by seeing her sister off with that dashing young Flame Rider (surely he thought so of himself). She had to turn back to R'le, a bit embarrassed to have not been paying full attention. She didn't want to be rude. "No, I haven't decided much. It seems Lithena is having fun," Rilora let a bit of a smile crack onto her face. She was happy for her sister, though Lithena was always happy, it wasn't much of a change. "She's not a bad dancer, if you're looking for a partner," Rilora suggested, not sure if her red dress would see the dance floor despite her wanting to. Perhaps she should enjoy the moment more and worry less, Lithena had jokingly lectured her on the benefits of fun more than once.
It was just her luck then that someone came up needing something. She was about halfway through their little speech before Rilora interrupted with a slight frown, "It's Turnover's Eve and I'm off duty. Unless it's urgent it can wait for tomorrow." Rilora watched the woman leave and rolled her shoulders. She did want a dance, maybe that would keep people away. Was there a subtle social art to this too or was it all really just for fun?
"Save a dance for me?" Rilora asked as she started to walk away. She felt she had a few other social things to attend to before she would relax enough to just enjoy a quick dance with a friend.
So far things weren’t looking particularly good as far as living at Rainbow Mists Weyrs was concerned; at least that was the opinion of one Dalonia Jindarex, Crimson Wherhandler and recent Transfer from the far Northern Continent. First off, shortly after arriving, she found herself saddled with not one, but two of the most obnoxious young firelizards she’d ever encountered in her life—not that she found any firelizard to be particularly good company. Consequently the little winged tunnlesnakes were given horrid names though anyone with any experience with the woman would have expected as much.
Now in the midst of breaking up squabbles and contemplating letting Dalosk eat the Sharded menaces, Turnover’s Eve had arrived and it would seem that she was expected to get all dressed up and play nice with the locals. Nothing about that seemed in the least appealing but she’d received a coded message via Barrek’s black Twit.
You will attend festivities and endear yourself to your new superiors. Wear your green gown. Keep me appraised of developments. —B
Of course Dalonia had burned the little scrap of coded parchment after reading it but silently she cursed Barrek for giving her a direct order—any direct order from the Smith generally came directly from Tiberax—though so far away from the others, she wondered if she even had to listen to them anymore.
Despite these thoughts of dissension, she donned her only gown—a simple, rich green gown made of a heavier cloth that would likely be comfortable in her new home and adorned around the neck with abalone shards—and combed out her hair before slipping on a simple silver chain belt and a wrist cuff that Barrek had made for her long ago. It was as good as it was going to get.
Slipping out of her room, she made her way toward the Weyr festivities, growing more and more apprehensive as the music and merriment grew louder. This was madness; she hated mingling! Not to mention she couldn’t dance worth a darn.
”One of these days, Barrek…I’ll slip a knife between your ribs and be done with you.” She muttered to herself as she finally reached the outskirts of the celebrations, positioning herself so that no one could approach her from behind; it was second nature.
Mosiliath marveled at the images in his head. He had seen snow before, so that was no surprise – but never so much at one time. It was unlike anything he had ever seen before. It was such a brilliant, gleaming, strange Weyr. He kept in mind the memories from Yuki, but truthfully, he was more interested in seeing more if Ice Stone from Ayleneth’s perspective. She was a true creature of the north in those skies. He wondered if she would ever return to that life.
Mosiliath sent out feelings of affection and gratitude to the tired Aurora. Thank you for sharing those with me. I know you’re tired. When he got wind of Yuki’s intentions, however, the connection between them faltered just a little. She was going to keep the child? If he could have been seen right then, his eyes were spinning orange with distress. D’gan was not going to be pleased. Mosiliath decided then and there that keeping quiet was the best course of action.
Still here.
Oh! Right. He reached out for his Rider’s mind and shared the transferred memories. Take a look at that!
D’gan’s eyes widened as the numerous memories flooded into his head. “Wow…Yuki, it’s…it’s more amazing than I had ever imagined.” He mulled over the images for a moment longer, and then returned his attention to the woman before him.
“I do almost envy you for living there. I should like to visit it sometime, if the time ever arises – and hopefully when it’s not too cold,” he grinned. “Mosiliath and I can’t stand the cold for too long.”
