Sanderon was not thrilled...at all. The subdued commotion behind him was loud and clear to his trained ears. Turning around in his place, he sees something that immediately burns his blood in his veins. Someone was hurting another for trying to stop the first from making a foolish mistake. Seeing that it was someone that had saved him in the jungle that day, did not help to calm his sudden 'feral' need to protect.
Saddyris jumped up faster than he thought possible. She was immediately back at the other person trying to prevent disaster. The shove the young man gave to the woman had her crashing back toward him. In fact, it was not just toward him that she came but at him as he had drawn closer in his concern.
The impact of her against his already aching chest, had him stumbling back with the shock of pain. Tripping on her skirts as they also tangled him, he fell hard with a deep grunt of hurt.
Drawing the look of pain away from his features, a dangerous look began to enter his expression and body language. This hunter was about to strike, not at Saddyris but at the one that dared to dishonor the sands by his zealous stupidity.
When Saddyris collided with a hard body her attention was suddenly and wholly diverted to the person she’d crashed into. When she realized it was the Hunter, she hissed, her ire rising even as she made an attempt not to go crashing down on top of the man when he fell back onto the sands. It was a close call, but she managed to keep her feet long enough to untangle the skirts from around her legs and peer down at Sanderon. She saw the flash of pain before he could school his features and anger exploded in her chest at her cousin’s tactlessness. If just once he would think before he did something…
“I’m so sorry…I didn’t break anything did I?” Oh she was going to beat that wretch within an inch of his life! Stooping down she positioned herself to help Sanderon to his feet, mindful of his midsection even as she seethed. “Let’s get you up, Hunter.”
Chantrea was attempting to head over to the side of hte sands where the boys were gathered still - though she was rather slow going at the moment, her arm bleeding and hanging rather limply at her side for the moment, though she did move it... it hurt, but it would be alright. She didn't notice the bleeding scrape to her side or the nick to her calf. It was all rather painful, really. But it was not so unheard of. She walked with dignity, one hand covering the cut on her other arm... Which was when she heard them. Oh joys. What had Faranth brought for this hatching. And of course, she happened to recognize the voice. She shook her head.
For once, she wouldn't mind if Zigfried tried to maul someoen she actually liked. Because he was being stupid! "AYE! Dryranor! Shut up!" She called, breathing hard after just uttering that phrase before she took another stumbling step towards him, letting her other hand drop to her side. Her eyes were narrowed as she approached him. "You should get back up to those sands before you bring the wrath of the queen down on yourself and turn the Weyr from allies to enemies!" She was certain her words fell on deaf ears. Of course... she didn't realize just how bad she looked either. Though the arm was the only thing that was really bad off. She was planning on walking past him for a moment, but thought better of it, heading straight for where Saddyris and Dyranor were standing, ignoring Sanderon and Adelia for the moment and focusing on the ones making the biggest commotion. "Get off the sands sharding idiot! Before you get mauled or hurt one of the hatchlings!" He was something else. Which was something she had noted when she had first met him, but never had she thought him to be this stupid and impulsive. He was much moreso than K'tar - she knew that much for certain now. Wherever K'tar was, he wasn't down here yelling and making a scene which, reluctantly, she had to admit, she was no small part of now. "Either get back up there or I'll kick you back up there!"Not that she could.
"Faranth! You're going to hurt someone! That makes you know better than anything else out here!" She limped right up to him and reached out to put her hands on his chest, ready to push him away towards the stands, though she looked back at Saddyris, Sanderon, and Adelia first, wondering if any of them were going to help or step in. She knew she was injured, how injured exactly... she wasn't sure. Faranth. She was just making a bigger fool of herself.
But didn't she always. She always made a fool over herself. She always got hurt and she was always left behind.
What was new?
((Cait has my permission for some power-play over Chan.))
Adelia heard the commotion behind them as well, and turned, just as Saddyris and her cousin came essentially crashing through. She managed to sidestep in time to avoid getting shoved out of the way, but she frowned fiercely at the two. THEY, she knew, were not Candidates, but one never knew...
Their hissed discussion made what she was thinking moot though, as it was quite obvious that they were not there because a dragonet had called. No, the boy was almost yelling, and Adelia tensed as they went at each other, glancing at her companion. Because of that, she missed Saddyris being shoved towards them, and ended up on her bottom on the searing hot Sands. Hissing softly in pain and annoyance, she scooted back some to free her feet from the girl's skirts, then stood, also moving to assist Sanderon, her Healer instincts swift to notice the pained expression before he could hide it.
Looking to Saddyris, she quirked her head hard towards her cousin. "What is up with him? Doesn't he know this is how it must be?" she hissed softly, not threatening, not insulting, merely annoyed, more from her still burning bottom than from what was going on. Just then, Chan stepped in, and she resisted the urge to roll her eyes. At least the girl knew what was going on, she thought, irritated. However, that irritation ended the moment she saw the girl's arm, and she hissed, forgetting for a moment where she was and striding over to capture the injured limb. "Don't," she warned her sharply, tightening her grip just enough to let the girl know she wouldn't let her go. She then looked the wound over and frowned. Dragon scratch? she wondered.
Didn't matter, she decided a mere second later, and called to her flitters. Though they were on the Sands, the wound was bloody and needed tending, if only rudimentary, and the little bag she'd hidden had the components for it. It soon appeared, carried between Beam and Wave and set in her hand, and she eyed Chantrea. "Let me at LEAST tend that before you deal with the wherryhead?" she murmured, inclining her head towards the boy making all the fuss.

Archith looked down blankly at the girl who had fled close to her. She saw the wound and looked on her critically. The healers were the other way, off the Sands. It didn't take the girl long to move on, so Archith let her be. She was moving to go through the wrong group, the boys were kept in a separate place intentionally. The injured did strange things. She was making motions to leave, though she didn't seem in danger of death. She arched her neck and looked around. They should know they were duty bound to stay. She looked back down at the three eggs about her, and a trickle of hope crept into her as she saw one shake. Yes, little ones. Come. Hatch and discover the world, she coaxed them, letting out a motherly thrum.
She looked up to check on the rest of her younglings. A touch of sadness met her then, she knew they were not all still in the world, but she would remember them later. This was the time for encouraging and strength: each one needed those things so greatly. She saw the one girl with the Blue leaving, but she was not well. Time was a great healer, but words, they held strength. You are strong, she told Cyanee and Zigbrieth, dear ones.
She saw the late coming boy, coming slowly onto the sands. And while she knew compassion was a good thing for good Riders, a girl came to his side. The Candidates were to be kept separate. The girl, the one who the guest Silver would not stop tracking, she should know better. Candidates were to be healthy and strong, and this boy had determination if nothing else. He had made it onto the Sands on his own, he should be left to make the rest of the way similarly. She thought these things while shifting her view to each of her children. One of them could chose this boy, this girl. He was late, unacceptable, and he was injured, perhaps the cause of his lateness. Yet he had the strength to make it here. And as much as the world demanded her judgement, she the Senior Queen, in a day so bound to fate and the mysterious as this, who was she to judge?
Or so she thought until she saw two foreign persons running across her Sands. And running into her Candidates. And screaming at them. Archith was not pleased. The dragonets knew this. She felt most of them starting at her, shrinking, as she drew herself up. She rose up to stand on all fours, unfolded her wings and looked down at this small, mad boy. She took a moment to snort at the flitts that had appeared on her Sands, No flitts. Healing takes place on the edge. They should know better.
But this boy. She turned her face to him, and put her nose right up in his face and breathed the hot air out on him sharply.
WHO ARE YOU THAT JUDGES ME? TO JUDGE WHAT YOU DO NOT KNOW?
She did not roar, she did not growl. She let the power of her voice speak.
Leave this place! You are not welcome here!
Looking on quietly were the Moonlight and Dream. They were fixed on the scene as they stood near one another, both with sinking feelings in their stomachs. They were glad to look away from their angry mother when they saw a dark foot push through an egg. It was a relief to watch it, to see a sibling of theirs enter the world and they cheered for him to stay in it. So with the focus of the Hatching on Archith, a Midnight quietly entered the world and saw his sisters watching him and he joined them and tried to figure out what was going on. He could sense the tension, but he didn’t know the cause. After he had left a green head and wing made it out of an egg and a beautiful little Green won her freedom in the world. She crooned at the egg next to hers, still unbroken. It did not move. She saw the others waiting cautiously around the Sands and felt no desire to go out and brave whatever it was they were wary of. She curled around the silent egg and talked to it, willed it to move, but it did not and she tried to hide her sadness, for there was enough of that here. The world did not need more of it.
So too the Moonlight felt the weight of the world on her shoulders. It was a threatening heaviness that could crush her, she felt the hurt and the wounds and the anger and confusion around here. She had felt them all since her arrival, these things she knew were plaguing those around her. In a slowly resolving swirl she felt the despair of one consciousness resolve into a sharp focus, its hurt agony and sharp loneliness laying itself clearly before her, and she longed to do nothing more than to fill that empty, hurting place and bring to both of them something they struggled to hold onto: hope.
Chantrealove, do not despair. Valhauth shall be your hope. And you shall be mine? the last was a question, a hope of hope, plead for by the young dragonet. She drew near to her, terrified of Archith, but even more desperate to no longer be alone, to be with her Chantrea.
Moonlight (f) Name: Valhauth (val-hahth) [vælhaθ] Hex color: #3f3f3f / #d0c776 Adult size: 34 feet About: Valhauth often looks a touch melancholy on the surface, but underneath there is a wealth of inspired notions. She feels the pain of others deeply: a great empath. She holds important the idea of social righteousness and works to see all accepted and loved, through her own actions and conversations to others. That being the case, she has trouble communicating her ideas humbly and can come across as critical and rude.

The pain was great but he shoved it down as best he could. “I’m so sorry…I didn’t break anything did I?” Saddyris had asked. Sanderon did not know. His half-healed ribs sure did not feel too good but he did not say so. Instead he shook his head in silence and accepted both her and Adelia's help to stand.
"Thank you." He managed to say to both of them.
Brushing off the sand a little from off his candidate robe he wondered what he should or could do about this unwanted human disturbance. He did not want to add to the disturbance. He could understand the young man's reasonings and could not fault him for them. But he did fault him for his impulsive display and on the hatching grounds too!
Sanderon was quietly furious with the dishonor this loud young man was showing. He had a mind to take care of the situation himself, despite his pain. Another female came in with an injured arm bleeding and looking furious. Her not-so-gentle tongue lashed out at the young man and Sanderon stayed where he was and just listened, realizing that another cluster of humans were again being made and he found himself in the midst of them. He did not know if he should stand his ground for now or step away.
When Archith's great form moved though, Sanderon looked back to her and saw that she was taking care of things herself. A respectful nod of his head was given to her. He would bow to her instead but he did not feel able just yet without pitching forward in pain. As he watched her, he saw behind her two more hatchlings that had not been there before. He acknowledge them silently in his own mind and turned back to the offending boy. Yes, boy. A man would not be so reckless.
Sanderon's dangerous, feral gaze remained like a coiled tunnelsnake. If this offending male did not leave the sands, he would ensure that he did in as calm a manner as possible. He wasn't up to anything too physical.
Before he could think about putting any of his thoughts into action or words, one hatchling that had been on the sands for a while came closer. The loud-mouth girl with the injured arm, was impressed not long after and despite everything that had occurred and was occurring, Sanderon could not help but to look upon the brand new pair with a quick spark of pleasure. Impressions were good.

Dyranor scowled at his cousin and the two Candidates as they berated him with their expressions…with their eyes. He knew he was right, even if everyone thought he was crazy. Things had gotten out of hand. When a familiar voice hissed from behind him, the young man turned his head, eyes narrowed as Chantrea came into view. For a moment he considered telling her off or brushing past her until he saw the blood. His eyes went wide and his ears began to ring. Ignorant though he might be, he was decided that things had gone far enough. Here Chan was, worried about him hurting a hatchling—something he would never do—while she bled.
Clenching his jaw, his hands balled into fists at his side as he set himself stubbornly to refuse to comply to either clan woman. But still, despite his good intentions and his thick skull, his conviction wavered at the sight of Chan so battered. A tiny voice inside him demanded that he remove her from the Sands and harms way before another crazed hatchling could trample her.
As Dyranor wavered, Saddyris glanced over at Adelia and narrowed her eyes slightly. It was one thing for her to call her cousin cracked, but quite another for an Outsider to voice their opinion of him. “Never you mind, miss. This is a family matter.” And apparently now a clan one. The words that Chantrea had said were true enough. This was a good way to quickly change the dynamics of the Vrishna Clan.
Taking a deep breath, her eyes flicking from side to side as she tried to come up with a way to diffuse the situation, the Golden Queen uncoiled herself from where she’d been watching her clutch hatch and maul everything in its path. Oh great, now the bonehead had really done it. Up in the stands, Poica and Suiathon quickly vanished as Archith spoke, clearly not wishing to tempt the Gold Queen, despite the fact that they had remained on the sidelines like good little firelizards.
“Dyranor…” Saddyris said warningly, but it was too late. The great Queen had already stepped around the scrambling candidates and now loomed over the small cluster of young people. Saddyris stiffened and pressed closer to Sanderon slightly, her grip tightening on his arm slightly. This was not good.
Dyranor slowly turned around and let out a strangled gasp when he realized exactly how close Archith was. Eyes wide, he stood there as a blast of malodorous and uncomfortably hot air erupted around him, whipping his hair and clothing about and forcing him to narrow his eyes to slits. Then came the voice, loud, strong and commanding. The power of it caused the young man to stumble back, narrowly avoiding knocking into both Adelia and Chantrea. Suddenly it seemed to dawn on him how rash he’d been and his tanned face paled. “I—I didn’t…”
Silently, Saddyris willed her cousin to just shut his mouth and leave before he caused any more trouble and for once it seemed to work. Dyranor clamped his mouth shut and turned, stalking off the sands with his spine almost painfully straight. He did not return to the Stands. Instead he broke into a jog once he’d left and returned to the room he shared with his cousins and quickly began to pack his things. He would be gone within the hour, on his way down The Road to gather his mount and return to the Clan…the Clan. What would they think?
Saddyris, a knot in her chest took a bold step forward and bowed elegantly at the waste in front of Archith, not rising but instead speaking loudly with her head still lowered. “Please accept my apology, Great Queen. Dyranor is still young and has much learning to do” He’s the same age as I am and he cannot even apologize properly! She thought bitterly to herself. “If you wish it, we will remove ourselves from your Weyr and send whatever reparations you desire. Please know that he truly meant no harm or disrespect.”
Still bent over, Saddyris waited, once again willing to take a punishment that she should really just leave Dyranor to face on his own. One of these days she was going to have to let the all valuable lesson of sinking or swimming. She rather hoped that he would rally and learn to get himself out of his messes but she doubted it would happen any time soon.
Chan was staring at Dyranor with a faint frown still, watching the ambitious, brash, irritating young man before her and his reaction. Her hands were clenched at her side. If she had know that Sanderon was thinking she was a loud mouth she probably would have give him a glare or something... and She would have had to pull Zigfried of his face possibly... but he mauled everyone. Always. Unless she controled him. She frowned. "I'll be fine! Healing is off the sands after the hatching!" she snapped towards Adelia, more afraid that the girl would get into trouble than anything else as she tried to pull her arm away, feeling the pain in it as she did so and wincing.
She sighed and closed her eyes as Archith moved into view, before opening them, just in time to see Dyranor run.. She watched Saddyris apologize. Chan felt something her her heart sink. "Archith... I apologize. I..." She was cut off by the voice in her head and her eyes went wide as she searched for the source of that voice, seein the dragonet move cautiously around Archiths large frame.
"Yes... yes Valhauth... I'll be your hope." She whispered softly and reached out to touch the dragonet who gently nuzzled her hand for a moment before Chan embraced the dragonet, nearly sobbing.
You can't. We can't. We are each other's hope. We must show them... and teach them, ChantreaMine. They are ignorant. They need to be loved. I lvoe you.
"I love you too Valhauth." For the moment, dyranor and his mad dash off the sands had been forgotten. Everything was forgotten.
ChantreaMyLove, I need food. Then we must help the boy. He is lonely.
Chantrea nodded profusely and stood. "Excuse us, my queen," she said with a curtsy, inclining her head to the others as she turend to leave. "Let's go Valhauth. We will feed you adn then we will help him."
----
Dan shrunk back as Archith moved, just a bit, wanting to make sure he wsa not in the way. HE hadbeen doing a good job of ignorin the annoying humans on teh sands for hte tiem being... but now he could not ignore them. But he still was trying to pay attention teh brown who stood there... still not looking entirely well. "Please..." Dan said, looking away from the humans - after all, he wasn't involved - "Find your bonded. You need to live."
His plea was quiet, just to the brown as he looked at him with a somewhat paiend expression. No more death. No more. He wouldn't have it... He reached out again towards the brown and also away towards the boys, making it clear that they were all there for him to pick from... Icnluding him. If this brown was his, which he highly doubted, perhaps that meant he would no longer need to feel alone... perhaps it meant he would not logner be alone. That would be wonderful... but... One never knew.
At her sudden appearance at his side, Mosiliath looked gratefully over to Ayleneth. It is good to see you here, even if Yours cannot make it. I hope she will be fine? Though he did not turn to his Rider, he could sense that the news was mildly upsetting to D’gan. He meant to console him, but when Ayleneth spoke again, all thoughts of his Rider left his head. Mosiliath blinked and stared over at the Aurora.
I appreciate you saying so, Ayleneth. I know it was not easy for you, and I apologize for not saying anything earlier. His relief was clear in his voice as he watched the next couple of Impressions. They went along as smoothly as could be expected, given the peculiar Hatching, as the small White and the BlackGreen finding their Riders with ease.
Then the scream!
Mosiliath’s head jerked up as the scuffle on the Sands turned vicious. His eyes widened in disbelief as the DarkBlue and the Blue fought, blooded, warred over a possible Rider. His eyes spun a swift, agitated orange. Surely, not again!
A shudder rippled through his hide as he watched the DarkBlue fade away. Mosiliath bowed his head and closed his eyes. This was the second time a dragon had vanished to Between during this Hatching. Moving his tail to curl around Ayleneth’s, he took in a deep breath and forced himself to watch the Sands.
The Hatching had not yet finished.
Oh, what a day this was turning out to be.
#
They had attempted to find a quiet spot over by the feeding stations, somewhere away from the carnage and the death and the ichor-stained Sands, but with the wailing Abyss, Riona found it hard to concentrate on anything but what had happened. She began to pick over the bowls of meat, trying to find one that was not too difficult for her to manage.
Sotrileth held back a whimper as he waited beside His, his eyes anxious and fixed on the dark, keening Queen. He was hungry – so very hungry – but what should he do first? He looked up to Riona with a yellow gaze.
Rioonaaaa, he whined.
“I know, I know,” she replied hastily, taking hold of a medium-sized bowl and setting it down and off to the side for Sotrileth. “Is that oka—” Riona paused and shook her head. I keep forgetting, we’re supposed to talk like this now. Is that okay? Do you know what to do?
Sotrileth stepped up to the bowl and sniffed at the chunks of meat. I think so…
He looked up to the Abyss, but oh, she was keening still…He dropped his head and stuck his tongue out to taste the food, and the salty tang of blood reeling him in. Awkwardly mouthing at the food, he hunkered down and began to chew his first bites.
Riona squatted down beside the small dragon and ran a hand gently over his hide, surprised at how much it felt like soft leather. Ignoring the shouts around them – it didn’t matter now, she had him and they were safe – she began to look over her new half with admiration. She had never seen a dragon of his color before. He was special. The thought made her smile as she ran a hand over his headknobs, the two-toned color of his neck, his side, his one blue foot.
But when more cries of sorrow and dismay sounded around them, Sotrileth stepped away and looked around, his wings drying and spread out protectively over his bowl. A whine began in his throat.
RionaMine, if they do it, I should too?
I think so…This is new for me, too. Is this what dragons do? Now another shout from the crowds, and Riona spied the Queen rising up from her spot on the Sands, Riona mentally shook herself and focused on the dragon in front of her. It’ll be fine. You’ll be fine. You don’t need to…?
Uncertain, but knowing that the Abyss and the other dragons were making those sounds, Sotrileth began to keen despite his Mine’s words, his eyes spinning with mixed colors and emotions. His stomach still pinched with hunger, he made short, halting noises as he slowly chewed his food.
Will we stay for long? I am tired.
We can leave when you like.
Lifting his nose from where he had buried it in the bowl, Sotrileth looked over to Riona, his muzzle dripping beads of blood. A quiet, melancholic blue ran through his mind.
Svak eager mood at the thought of watching her first hatching fully through (in the one where she had Impressed Tsubareth she was the second off the sands and oblivious to the actual hatching itself) plummeted down with the rest of the surrounding emotions of horror and pain at the sight of the malformed green and sunlance brutally murder each other leaving green ichor soaked sand behind. She could hear Tsubareth calling out with the other dragons in her mind at the death of their kind. His sadness mixed with hers and they continued watching trying to brush those sights away and hope gained as dragons impressed, untill the darkblue and blue met in front of a girl. When the darkblue disappeared Tsubareth's emotions crashed down on her causing her to gasp at its power. He was still young and had not learned to fully censor all of his thoughts and emotions from her fully yet. She sat there numbly and kept watching. Just watching.
Lesti was in her Aerie organizing and restocking her jars and vials of various herbs and liquids her little neon black-blue flitt going out to gather a few leaves of this or that if she thought she was to low to make it till she went out for her major restock trip.
The Hatching has started at the Weyr. Klesh said suddenly picking up on the Queen's roar.
Do you want to go or keep working? They did have some things to get done even though traditionally they had taken to attending the hatching's of the dragons.
We can keep working for now.
They kept working away the faint sounds of humming playing lightly on the wind. That was of course until the first keening notes shattered through the air. Glancing quickly up Lesti turned to Klesh. "What is happening?"
After a second pause she responded- "There were hatchlings fighting." Lesti looked startled for a second then turned and grabbed her belt full of vials and bottles for dragons and a separate pouch for human scrapes. "We had better go then."
They had arrived and moved to the healers side of the sands sneaking in inconspicuously everyone to glued to the sands and what was occurring there. Dragon blood soaked the sands and the Queen did not look happy. A newly impressed blue ate and she examined his quickly bandaged scratches. They seemed to be taken care of well Klesh commented so Lesti turned her gaze back onto the sands. After sweeping across the heads of the candidates she scanned quickly through the hatchlings until she picked out a flash of green green, a grey hatchling with deep scars down its muzzle and neck. That needed to be looked at as soon as it got off the sands
D'ziel was not relieved that the male candidates had been spared the fighting that seemed to have coalesced on the female candidates, since it seemed that at any moment there would be another fight. Candidates were being struck left and right and someone had actually barreled down from the stands to get yelled at by the Gold dragoness. This was certainly...an eventful hatching.
Pounce may have been aware of the various noises, dragons keening, roaring and otherwise being noisy, but she was more interested in the new arms she was in. Quite content, she started to purr, likely not heard in the hubbub, but surely felt.
D'ziel's eyes had been drawn back to his brother, and he felt in pain. Not because he was hurting physically, but because Dan was hurting somehow. There was something about how his twin was standing, like there was something D'ziel had missed to make him hurt. Regardless of what caused it, he could feel that Dan was hurting, as clear as day. He so very much wanted to be down on the sands now. It had been easier, when he had been running late about a turn ago. Even though he was late he knew that Dan would be there, and so there would be at least someone there, standing next to him to make him feel better. He didn't know what to do now. D'ziel's head turned for the moment, back to Elora, since she had spoken. A running conversation was hard with this hatching, as much as you didn't want to, you could not look away.
"That's a shame. At least Pounce is behaving herself." he smiled a little, but looked distracted, looking back at his twin on the sands. Was the issue having to do with the Brown on the sands? Maybe. But what? Had he impressed? But it didn't seem like it. "I hate not being able to talk to him."
----
Words, as they say, hold power. This was a truth, one that the Weyrling knew, but not one that came to mind. However, she was aware of words right now. She was sitting down, slowly feeding Zigbrieth, one piece of meat at a time, and he took it and chewed on it, not able to convince her to give him the meat any faster, so he chewed slowly. Cyanee was thinking about words. She looked peculiar at the moment, sitting very straight, and moving very deliberately as she fed the Blue dragonet, but she hadn't bothered to dust herself off, and didn't seem aware of the blood and ichor on her robes. Even so, she was thinking about words.
'Cyanee! Get her off!'
A cry for help.
'...no...'
A last word to the world.
'You are strong, dear ones.'
A...
...
It was a statement. It was something that sounded like praise, but somehow it seemed more like an enactment. Cyanee couldn't quite figure it out. However, she was not any less glad it had been said. Each made their way into her mind and she thought on them long and hard. After a time she stopped her hand in the bowl of meat and Zigbrieth looked up at Cyanee with whirling eyes. What was going on now?
"We're going to meet my brother after this."
Very well Cyanee. The Blue responded firmly, before another piece of meat appeared, and he wolfed it down greedily. He could tell she was actually looking at him now, just staring at him. There was still a danger of crying, but it was much lower now, but she wasn't quite smiling truthfully. It would still take time. All the while Cyanee was oblivious to what occurred on the sands. Perhaps later she would be more alert.
Adelia shifted back as Chan snapped at her, her sky eyes narrowing, but before she could retort, probably something she would have regretted later, Archith came over, and she shrank back from the Queen, though only so far. She didn't fear Queen dragons as some would, after all, even if the Gold was upset. She obediently sent her flitters away with her bag and stepped back and out of the way, just watching silently as events occurred.
She winced as the boy was greeted with Archith's full wrath, grateful she'd been spared it, although she had the feeling that she would likely get an earful later from the Candidate or Weyrlingmaster(depending on events) about her behavior. She KNEW better, after all, and yet had still felt the need, the compulsion, to be sure that Sanderon made it to where he belonged, the desire to help Chantrea. Her words to Saddyris had been aimed only due to her being unintenionally involved in what was going on when she was stumbled into.
She noted the Moonlight and cocked her head slightly, then smiled as it was made obvious the little one had Impressed to Chantrea. "Congratulations," she murmured to the new MoonlightWeyrling as she stepped more fully away, back towards the rest of the female Candidates, where she belonged.

Yuki is doing well enough, Ayleneth told Mosiliath. She has been having difficulty sleeping as of late, but she will be fine in due time.
Ayleneth was about to say something else, Mosiliath's tail wound around her own, when the scream came. This Hatching was so bloody... First the Abyss, then two Hatchlings lost to Between... Thankfully, her own had not been so viscious... She couldn't watch the bloodshed with her own Hatchlings still so young, fresh from their shells. She turned her head away from the bloodied Sands, eyes, turned grey with the misery that was caused to her knowing that this might have been the fate of her own Hatchlings, open only another moment. Her distress would surely be felt by the Tiger beside her. They were linked by something most dragons were oblivious to...
It is terrible to think that this could've been the fate of our Hatchlings... Ayleneth said this only so Mosiliath could hear. Perhaps the effects of Yuki's pregnancy were affecting the Aurora as well, but it just as easily could've been that she simply couldn't let go of her hatchlings quite yet. Auroras, in Ice Stone, had been known to only rarely Clutch. Ayleneth was one of the Aurora females who was simply protective of her young?
Gradually Kelsira pushed the horrors that had happened thus far to a small corner of her mind. She hadn't forgotten them, but in the interest of coping, had firmly compartmentalized her feelings. With a growing sense of hope, she watched as a group of hatchlings made their way over to the girls. Several seemed to find theirs with minimal fuss, for which she was grateful. Kelsira did frown as some snapping broke out as they bumped into one another on accident. The tall girl was glad to see that the scarred Grey and the smaller White appeared to be as well as they could be. Lost in thought, she didn't see the White break away to stand before her.
KelsiraMine, Indauth has made it to you. [/i]
It took a moment for it to sink in that the White in front of her was hers. And suddenly, it didn't matter that she'd stood for as long as she had. Or that the events of the Hatching had at times left her shaking. The only thing that mattered, was that she had been here when she needed to be here.
Kneeling, a wondering smile crossed the miner's face. Reaching out, she touched Indauth's soft hide, marveling that she was hers. After a moment, she rose, brushing away sand as she did so.
"And I'm so very glad that you did Indauth, now lets see about getting you some food."[/i] she replied, leading her dragon off of the sands.
Not being able to talk to who? Elora followed D'ziel's gaze onto the Sands, eyes resting on the boy - well, young man - on the Sands who looked just like him.
"You're twins." She snuggled Pounce closer to her chest, resting her head on the small cat's. The cat struggled for a moment before accepting her place in Elora's arms and resuming her purring. "I can't imagine what that's like. Especially when one Impressed and the other hasn't."
The comments were said absently, and Elora didn't think about it as she said them, her gaze back to resting on the Blue dragonets and the drama going on there. Every now and then her gaze slid back to the Gold watching the proceedings with an keen eye and, Elora imagined, an iron fist regardless of all the mishaps.
