Keep Close to the Hearth [Firelizard Hatching]

The Pink, now a little rattled, had to scurry toward T’vax. He had offered her food, so hopefully the offer was still good. She had seen how he didn’t have a firelizard so hopefully she would be well loved with him. She was quieter for the moment, still rather surprised at the White’s outburst.

Back near the hearth the Aurora and Dream were still milling about, the Aurora just finishing her stretching. She sat up nearly and looked about, observing that her Dream brother was waiting on her. Oh, well she wouldn’t want to have him waiting on her. That decided she went out in search of some food. She looked back a moment, observing the Dream remaining right where he was. It looked like he would stay right there until she was done. Maneuvering around the flitter was unsure of what she was looking for. As she went forward she spotted the Pink and walked closer to her. They had similar sort of hide, perhaps they could be friends. The Aurora went to see what she was doing and noted that she was looking to this human for food. That would be good. The Aurora stepped forward to maybe get food before the Pink turned, looking displeased and trying to drive her away. The Aurora looked surprised and took a few steps back and sat down. The Pink chittered once more and the Aurora scooted back a little further. A little more chitter and a little further back. Content the Pink turned again to try and get food while the Aurora waited patiently. She wanted food too, but she didn’t want to intrude on the Pink’s space.

The Dream watched patiently. It looked like the Aurora had chosen to him. He wanted food as well, so he decided to proceed outward. He spotted a form enter, someone who looked happy to be there. Maybe she would want to go on an adventure? He bounced forward, two little jumps before stopping. But would he be any good at that? He wasn’t sure about that. After a moment he bounced forward even more, rushing toward the figure. That was okay though! He could have and adventure or stay out of the way. Just as long as it would be fun. As such he lept toward Diamond, toward food, toward his future.

T’vax didn’t even have time to answer Dav’s question before the little Pink scurried over, mouth already open and aimed straight at the food he still held in his hand. He reached forward with it again, but then the Pink abruptly spun and made a scolding, chittering sound. Confused, T’vax glanced behind her to see the little Aurora had approached too, and seemed to be hanging back.

“Hey, you shouldn’t stay back there, come on,” T’vax called softly, starting to reach out and offer some food to the Aurora. However, the Pink, had other ideas, turning and grabbing the food, then chittering at him!

“Stop it greedy-one, there’s plenty here,” T’vax laughed, tapping the Pink on the nose with another piece of meat. Naturally, the Pink bit down on the meat, and was distracted enough by eating it that T’vax was able to ease the Aurora in a little closer. The Pink didn’t react, other than a single chitter, so T’vax concluded that the distraction of filling her stomach must be working. Wonderingly, he reached out to run his other hand along the side of the Pink’s body. It was soft, like Slinesteth’s hide. So was the Aurora’s hide, when he reached out and stroked her back. He glanced back and forth between the two, oddly guilty that he was not sure what to name them.

The interactions between the Hatchlings had Diamond enthralled. She loved fire-lizards, always had-she'd been incredibly sad that she'd been unable to Hatch the one she'd found as a child- so the chance was just too good to pass up. And fairly quickly, she had someone lunging towards her. She was able to discern the hide just before she found herself suddenly lacking meat in her hand, the little one nomming it happily before her. Once he'd(she'd taken note of his musculature and discerned him to be male) finished, he chittered pleadingly at her for more.

She was more than happy to oblige him, and held him close as he ate. "Oh this is gonna be so much fun," she said excitedly. "Now what to name you?" He looks like the starry sky, commented Xinalinth, looking briefly through her Mine's eyes at their new companion. He does, but that doesn't fit him, Diamond replied. "Hmm... Lapis." Nodding, the former Miner-turned Dragonrider stood, noting that no other eggs remained unHatched. "Congratulations everyone," she said with a grin, cuddling her new friend.
