“It’s awesome! Amazing!” T’ruk exclaimed. “I made it! We made it!” The exclamations were quiet, but still exclamations for all that. He pulled his arm back and down in a habitual motion, only he couldn’t complete the motion because he hit the sword hilt with his hand.
Should’ve swung out a little more he thought.
Let her know that I would like to join in hugging, Azeriuth requested, raising his head slightly and peering over the crowds in T’ruk’s general direction with one speedily whirling blue-green eye. He liked Kyuuki and Vallesh, and really wanted to say hello properly, even though he now had to be careful how he hugged the much smaller LifeWing.
Sure, T’ruk replied. “Azeriuth would like to join in on the hugging,” he relayed faithfully. His voice reflected now little of the wonder of that boy who had answered the call of a dragonet from his place in the Stands, but it was still there, every time that, like now, he recalled consciously that he and Azeriuth would have each other, forever. No longer was he that little, useless, destined-to-be-nothing boy that had come here.
Sinok finally made it through the crowd, and shoved his large furry head between T’ruk and Kyuuki, clearly seeking attention from both humans. He ignored, as always, the three firelizards that had chosen to ride in state on his furry back. In fact, two of them, Guyaky and Tungull, where close to asleep, only Atanek was awake enough to raise his head and chirp a greeting.
Kyuuki chuckled softly, enjoying T’ruk’s enthusiasm. It was good to see his spirits so high. She jumped a little when his hand hit the back of the sword, looking quickly to assure herself he was not hurt. Just a bump, nothing to worry about. He was made of sterner stuff then that. She still could worry though, she was allowed.
Oh, of course! We must, uh, get Azeriuth in on the fun. And –oh-“ Sinok made his presence known, getting right in the middle of everything. Kyuuki smiled, laughing a little. “We’ll have to give attention to Sinok too.” She leaned down to pet Sinok, smiling at the flitters he was towing around. Lantern chirped at Atanek as a greeting, but remained on his mistress’ shoulder. As Kyuuki pet Sinok she looked up and spoke again, just a little louder than before. A crowd of people had a little bit of noise competition, she could easily be drowned out.
“Are you going, um, to hang out with your friends tonight? Someone must have some plans.” She tried to balance well, paying attention to T’ruk but giving Sinok a good scratch under the chin.
Vallesh made her way to Azeriuth, navigating slowly through the Weyrbowl. There were more than a few dragons around, and a majority of them were larger than her. She could usually see over everyone though. Long neck and all that. So she found her way, careful about not getting in the way. Once she got where she wanted though she fluffed up her feathers a bit before craning her head to Azeriuth.
Such a busy place here. However, not too busy for a bit of a hug yes? I’ll be selfish and get to you before Kyuuki does. The Lifewing extended her wings and made a little loop to hug Azeriuth with. Her wings were okay, but her neck was more expressive, so she could really lean in. Still, she had practiced. She did love her hugs.

Atenek chirped back to Lantern, which woke Guyaky and Tungull up enough that they managed to say hello too, with slightly quieter chirps. Even then, Tungull’s chirp was probably twice the volume of that of Guyaky. T’ruk might well be acting far more normal, but Guyaky still remembered that making noise was bad and attracted attention, a bad thing.
Sinok was quite happy at this sudden increase in attention, and nosed up against Kyuuki’s hands, attempting to extract the maximum amount of pressure per pet. He liked being petted, after all.
T’ruk paused. Was he going to hang out tonight? He knew that there were plans being made, but he didn’t know if he was actually going to attend any or not. His self-appointed guardian wasn’t present currently, but he knew that the older boy’s, well, she wasn’t really a girl-friend, just a friend who happened to be female was planning something, but that wasn’t going to be until later.
“Probably, but I’m not sure. Davquil’s probably planning something, but she’s kept it pretty quiet,” T’ruk answered.
Azeriuth curved his neck, lowering his head to touch the very tip of his nose to that of Vallesh.
Of course it’s not too busy for a hug, Azeriuth responded. He had to fold his wings flat so that Vallesh could hug him now, being now larger than her, so he couldn’t hug her back with his wings, but he did wrap his neck as far around her as he could and use it and his head to return the hug. With one great green-blue swirling eye, he watched T’ruk. He was proud of His today, and of himself. They had made it.
It’s not selfish, Azeriuth protested, somewhat predictably, it’s being happy and not wanting to wait.
“Do you know how Sanshe is doing?” T’ruk asked, very quietly, using another hug as an excuse to get close enough that he could essentially whisper.
