Name: K'rill (Krillian)
Pronunciation: krill yan
Gender: Male
Age: 19
Turnday: 1st day of 8th month, 3054
Weyr: Rainbow Mists Weyr
Rank: Weyrling
Family:father:Caslow, Farmer
Mother: Ginerv, Smithcraft
Oldest brother Larill, Beastcrafter
Older brother Naster, Harper
Older sister Hailie Weaver
Older sister Sarilla, Farmer
Friends: Several other journeyman scattered in crafts
Pets: None
Appearance: 6 feet 1 inch and just starting to muscle out, Krillian has sun streaked dark brown hair and dark brown eyes. Calloused hands and feet, a liking for red bandannas and a ready grin are what people remember most, with the deeply tanned skin and wiry muscles of someone who spends most of his days in the fields less obvious.
Personality: Krillian loves attention, telling jokes and punning to get it. For the most part, farming doesn't take much brain power - at least for apprentices and junior journeyman, so coming up with tall tales and puns gives him something to do while hoeing. Figuring out how to get some new skins to read and how to learn more about other crafts make time spent hoeing easier. Krillian ended up a Farmer due to his high physical energy and his inability to stick to any disciplined course of study. He learned the basics of playing a flute - then got bored. He learned how to care for herd beasts - then was on to the next new interest. Farming, under his Father's watchful eye was where he reluctantly ended up, his parents and the Hold leadership making the choice for him. Farming is boring and repetitive. Krillian hates being bored. He would do almost anything to get away from farming.
History: The youngest of 5, Krillian learned to talk, argue and get attention early. His whole family is smart and are members of several different crafts, making dinner discussions the best part of the day. Family members took turns taking Krillian with them to their work places, indulging his curiosity and trying to influence Krillian's choice of Crafts. He loved them all.
That all ended when he was 9 turns old as his curiosity and tendency to touch and try to do things himself landed him in mess after mess. He had enough knowledge and ability to be rather dangerous or to cause big expensive messes.
His father started bringing Krillian out to the fields to let the rest of the family work in peace and found that Krillian was helpful - as long as a sharp eye was kept on him. You can't do that much damage with a hoe, and if Krillian tried - there was always spreading fertilizer. That task would bring almost anyone back into line.
Krillian quickly decided that the best part of farming was learning to hunt the animals that threatened the crops. Snares, slings, spears and even thrown rocks were all used. Krillian worked hard to earn the privilege to go hunt and since Krillian hunting allowed the Farmers to do their work in peace, Krillian became a rather good hunter - though not a very good farmer. Weeding and hoeing while daydreaming does not make for weed free rows.
His childhood friends have mostly deserted him, becoming journeyman and maturing enough to see how Krillian has thoroughly trapped himse lf in a dead end job. Girls avoid him for the same reason. Few people want to hear his jokes anymore, might it have something to do with the persistent smell of herd beast dung that he finds himself having to deal with so often? Or the anger that he is starting to feel at a life that seems to have trapped him in the worst possible place?
This all changed, exciting, for Krillan when, one day he was summoned to be Searched, the Search Rider had come for him, and the though they no say in the matter, the Hold leadership privately were breathing a sigh of relief. Maybe he would impress a dragon and pertinently settle in Ice Stone Weyr, leaving them in peace.. For him, it was finally a way out of this dull boring, farm life. Though, as he was brought to the Weyr on the back of Search Dragon, he was admittedly, a little nervous. Sure, it was new life, a way out, but would he Impress? Krillan did not know. He was mildly discouraged. But his fortunes would turn golden soon enough.
By this point, he was 16 turns old. He had been deemed worthy by a Search Rider, and now stood before the Hatchlings of Rainbow Mists Weyr. The day was the most frightening and yet exciting of his young life. This would not be his day, however. he stood until all the dragons hatched, just simply waiting..and waiting..and nothing happened. Krillan went back to boring farming tasks, under his father's eye, but increasingly expressed his desire to Stand once more. This got to the point, after two more years of his pestering, that he was able to Stand again.
This time, he was indeed able to realize his dream, and impress Junith, a black. Where would it take him? He wasn't sure, but he was decidedly excited at this new life.
Adoption?: no.
Dragon's Name: Junith
Dragon’s Gender: female
Dragon's Age: 9 months
Dragon's Color: black
Dragon's Appearance: Junith is a black dragon, with black along her back and a completely black underbelly. As with any other dragon, her eyes are not any one color, they can seem more blueish when she's happy, red when she's angry, or purple when she's sad or depressed.
Dragon's Personality: Junith feels things intensely and is not shy about letting her needs be known. She has a short fuse and can be set off without warning should she encounter a "last straw" in a string of frustrating things. Despite her tendency to yell, Junith loves attention. More than anything she treasures complements and will probably insist that you write some of them down so she won't forget just how lovely that dragon told her she looked yesterday morning. On all but her worst days, Junith is good company for conversation and is never at a lack of subjects to discuss.
Dragon's History: Parents are Gold ARchith and Bronze Promueth.

"They at it again. Will this ever stop?" K'rill was speaking about the "hot topic' of the day - Silverlights. He shook his head, he really couldn't see how they could be allowed to Clutch, but if the minor lord Holder's son had impressed one then...
"They are unnatural, unwanted. a blight upon the land. However you wish to characterize it. I feel only trouble and evil from them dear rider. we should stay clear of them.
Junith made her opinion known as always, they sat atop one of the many peaks overlooking a valley. K'rill could appreciate his dragon's sense of strength and self confidence, but there were time she needed to work on her tact a bit. Or so he felt.
What are you thoughts on this? and I..hunger.
K'ril standing beside her, rubbed her nose slightly, which calmed her, but he could tell she was in one of her "moods" again. and by calmed her, it sent a puff of smoke towards his face. K'rill responded,"I'm not certain, my princess. I think there may yet be good in their hearts, but maybe it is time for Pern to expand it's horizons a little."
Do not patronize me with your terms of sweet things. I am a princess, though. but hmm...we shall see. I still say they are blight and I would happily kill them. With or without your aid.
Definitely in her mood, K'rill decided. He climbed aboard her back and directed her to fly homeward. Whatever the intentions of the Silverlight were. K'rill had to make a choice, get in the middle of the debate and break up the tension or watch from sidelines while it happened? He hadn't decided yet, but the whole thing intrigued him. This was what he'd wanted and dreamed about after all and now he had Junith from company.
