“P’shir!” Kashpa returned the bear hug she found herself in, at least as much as she could manage. What business did her younger brother have in being so much taller than her? Ah well. After he released her she went back to the cool colored dragon behind him. “And it’s great to see you Korintesth. I’m afraid I have to steal your rider for a while.” She winked at the dragon, who rumbled slightly, something she took to mean he was amused. That done she gave her brother a hearty slap on the back and they walked into Cliffside proper chatting lightly.
“You know Netava had a boy?”
“Really? I thought she would have bundle of hormonal girls, she could use it.” The pair chuckled as they shared what was going on with whom, as they had plenty of family to go through, it took some time before they even rolled around to themselves. Kashpa got both of them some juice to drink as they caught up, heading to one of her favorite spots in the shade. Eventually they came around to Kashpa herself. Which meant a couple subjects that the harper figured were going to come up.
“So mom told me to ask you…well, you know.” P’shir rolled his eyes and Kashpa snickered.
“You mean she wants me to find a nice guy and get married? P’shir, I want kids before I get married ya know.” She grinned mischievously and added, “And you better tell her exactly that.”
“Hah! Dad should get a kick out of it. Probably take Mom a minute to realize the bit about being a teacher.” They had been talking about that between letters, though Kashpa wondered if she wouldn’t have to move to a different Hold to do it. Then again, stick around enough and jobs might open up, after all…
“Let me guess, they want me to consider moving somewhere less close to RMW?” Neither Kashpa nor P’shir looked any less amused at that. P’shire gave a good natured shrug.
“You know Mom.”
“And you know me.” P’shir raised his glass of juice up toward his older sister.
“So here’s to your stay and to your adventure.” Kashpa grinned and they toasted before both of them took a drink. “You know, makes me kinda want to transfer up here, what with all the interesting stuff going on.”
“And steal MY limelight? P’shir, I thought you knew better than that.” The siblings were clearly having a grand old time, of course, they both were easily lead toward that sort of thing.
“What was I thinking? Forget I ever said anything.” He calmed down a moment and added, “But really you know that if you wanted I could go here, or I could get you back toward Monacco. I seriously miss having you around.”
“I know. You know that deep down though, we both wanted our space to do something great, all on our own. Well, for you it’s not quite alone is it?” P’shir grinned and Kashpa smiled. “Yeah I thought not. But you know what we say.” The pair of them suddenly clasped their right hands together, looking something like they were going to try and arm wrestle.
“Live like you’re the hero.”
“And never refuse the call.”
The two of them talked for a while longer. New odds and ends, no shortage of teasing the other and in general just enjoying the day. Still time passed on and eventually P’shir knew he had to be off. By that time they had made it to the cliffs and were walking along back toward where the Dream had landed.
“You know Kashpa, I always thought you might make a good rider. It’s a grand adventure you know.” He grinned.
“Gotta leave dragons for everyone else you know.” Kashpa teased lightly. “Besides, you know me. I’ll find an adventure anywhere. If I don’t, guess I’ll go looking. For now I got my adventure and I’m sticking it out.” A devilish grin appeared on her face. “You know me.”
“Oh I can’t wait to hear about what you are going to manage.” The pair laughed and gave each other a hug before saying goodbye and both heading their separate ways. Kashpa merely thought. Yeah she woulda liked to be a dragon rider, but she had her own way. So she strode back, looking for adventure, and reminding herself of her promise. If adventure called, refusing was not an option.
