3076.07.11 | Morning
It had been a distinctly nice feeling, being able to wake up slowly. Not that he woke up slowly all that often, and if truth were told he normally simply couldn’t do so. If it were light out (and even when it wasn’t) then some part of K’tar just demanded that he arise. However, this morning, like others before it when he hadn’t had some punishment duty, he’d just lain there for awhile; smiling at Chantrea’s sleeping form.
Glancing over the bustling dining hall, he picked out a couple possible places. The food was already at the tables, an advantage to arising later; they wouldn’t have to make their way first to the kitchen and then to the tables.
“Over by the window?” he asked, tightening slightly the arm he had draped around Chan’s shoulders.
Chantrea had been loathe to pull herself up, even when she woke to see the man she loved gazing at her. She flushed, moving closer to him and cuddling there for a long moment. She liked this. Waking slowly with the love of her life... Spending a slow lazy morning with him in bed before rousing due to hunger... And a bit of prodding from the man she rested with as often as possible. She was glad they didn't have wing training until later. She felt a little off this morning, but... She thought nothing of it and went down with K'tar, one. Of his arms wrapped around her shoulders, almost protectively.
Chan was looking over the dining hall with him, taking in the smells. It was wonderful. She was really hungry. She blushed as her stomach grumbled again and she put her hands over it in apology and embarrassment for a moment. The window? That sounded great! She smiled, "that sounds perfect." His arm around her shoulders tightened and she blinked, looking at him, then, smiled softly.
She walked with him to take a seat, sitting down on a bench and looking over the fair. It smelled good... But the sight of the food seemed to have an opposite affect on her, though she tried to hide it and reached for a plate before reaching for a red fruit and meat roll, but she didn't eat yet, instead waiting for altar.

K’tar slid in next to Chantrea, sitting close. Unfortunately, he had to disengage his arm from around her shoulders in order to eat. He compensated for that with a quick kiss before engaging to consume the red fruit and couple meat rolls that he’d secured for his plate. Two, or maybe three bites in, he realized that Chantrea wasn’t even touching the things on her plate.
“Chan, are you ok?” he asked. It concerned him, seeing her not eating but with food on her plate. If she wasn’t hungry, than she wouldn’t have gotten food, but if she was hungry, than why wasn’t she eating the food?
Chantrea smiled. She had a very affectionate weyrmate. He made her very happy without a doubt. She watched him for a moment as he started to eat before looking down at her own food again. It just... didn't. Ugh. She felt so sick today.
"I don't know, K'tar... I really don't feel very well," she said to him, putting a hand on her stomach and one hand over her mouth, suddenly feeling like she was about to throw up and looking for something that she could use for that purpose at that particular moment.

K’tar abruptly forgot all about the food on his plate. “Do you need to go to the Aerie?” he asked, already starting to stand up so as to help her to her feet, his grey eyes wide with concern. She didn’t look sick, but he couldn’t tell with any surety. She’d been well enough last night, might not be showing signs of anything…
She nodded queitly again and again. "Yes...." she said, her voice soft and trailing off as he helped her up, still covering her mouth.
Viarth...? the dragoness answered, her voice quiet. She is not sick... but she is... different... the draogness said. Not quite sure how to pinpoint it.

Viarth relayed this information on to his rider, along with his own confusion. How could she be not sick but different? The information didn’t make any more sense to K’tar but he did know that Chan had answered his own question in the affirmative.
“Come on then,” he said, helping her towards the Aerie. He had absolutely no idea what could be wrong, and he was just glad it was morning. He’d be able to wait and hear what the Healers said, rather than having to report for training and not hear about it until afterwards.
Valhauth gave a little croon. You will be okay, Mine-love. Chan just nods quietly. Chantrea held onto K'tar tightly, using him for support and for comfort. She wasn't sure what was going on. She walked along with him. SHe squeezed his hand again.
She walked with him towards the Aerie. THey wouldnt' be able to get their soon enough in her mind.

Finally, finally they reached the Aerie. K’tar was by this point rather seriously freaked out, imagining all sorts of dire diseases. The Healers swept them off to a room, then politely shooed K’tar outside, where he took to trying to pace a hole in the floor. He could hear voices from the far side of the door, but he couldn’t make out what was being said. They didn’t sound very concerned, but he wasn’t in the room, how could he know?
Pace, pace, pace.
((I have no knowledge of what they might ask or say, so over to you xD))
Chan didn't want them to send K'tar out of hte room, but they were insistent. She tookt he seat she was told to and let them examine her, though she really just wanted an answer. It was some time as they asked her various questions that she answered. THough one question in particular made her stop. How long since her last cycle... She swallowed. She gave them her answer. And theirs was startling to her.
"Chantrea. You're pregnant." She gave a little gasp, looking down at her midsection. SHe had gained a litlte weight... but apparently... it wasn't weight. "Can... can we bring K'tar in now..?" she asked. THe healer nodded and opened the door. Chnatrea had a stunned look on her face. "K'tar... you can come in now. We have some news for you."

K’tar almost literally jumped when the door was opened. Certainly he spun to face it, hand flying towards a knife before he could stop himself. Something was wrong. Something had happened. She was dead, or going to die, or… The first thing he saw was Chantrea’s face, and a wave of relief swept over him. His shoulders dropped. Alive. She was alive. Chantrea’s stunned look. He crossed to her side, with no memory of the intervening distance.
“What is it?” he asked. “She’s going to be ok?” he demanded of the Healers.
The healer looked rather surprised at his antics, clearing his throat. "She'll be fine." He says gruffly, looking at him somewhat suspciously all of a sudden. Entirely due to his reaction. Chantrea looked at him quietly. He healers looked at each other. "She will be fine." They looked at Chantrea. She swallowed and looked at him, placing her hand getnly on hi scheek to bring his gaze back to her. She swallowed and then just blurted it out. "I'm pregnant." It was one big rush as she looked at him. "It's morning sicknes...." she said, her voice becoming soft.

The news was so unexpected, it took K’tar a couple seconds to even register that the words had been said. Then his mouth fell open.
“Pregnant?” He managed to get out. His eyes seemed almost to glow, he was so happy. The rest of the words, all the rest of all the possible words, were colliding with each other too fast for his mouth to move. It hardly seemed possible, yet he knew, knew only too well as a matter of fact, that it was entirely possible.
Impulsively, he caught Chantrea in a hug, his grin making serious attempts to crack his face open. “Chan, that’s amazing!”
Viarth! Viarth, she’s pregnant!
Viarth greeted the news, and the happy giddiness that accompanied it, with a full throated joyful bugle. He wanted to tell all his friends! This was good news. It had to be, for K’tarHis was so clearly excited.
Chantrea nodded, a smile growing over her face as she watched his reaction. Wow... she had never pictured he would be so excited when she told him news like this... of course, she ahd thought that would be a few more turns into the future as it were... She gave a little squeek of surprise as he pulled her into a hug, but soon she snuggled herself in deeper, wrapping her arms around him tightly. She and K'tar were going to have a baby... a baby. She could hardly believe it, but she felt her heart thrill with excitement.
Mine is going to have a hatchling! Valhauth didn't care who heard her as she joined Viarth in a loud bugle of celebration, rising up on her hind legs and flaring her gray and pale yellow wings excitedly.
Chan blushed. Soon the whole Weyr was going ot know and she ducked her head, hiding agaisnt K'tar. But she smiled, grinning. "It is!" She kissed him then. "OUr baby..." she whispered softly. "This is our baby..." She had a nagging worry that tried to creep in to her happiness. The worry that she would not be a good mother. That she would fail this child... and K'tar. But she shoved it aside. SHe was going ot have a baby... they were going to have a baby. She smiled and pressed her face into his shoulder again, holding him tightly.
