LifeWing's Name:Gesh
LifeWing's Gender: Male
LifeWing's Age: 10 turns
LifeWing's Species: Wood Duck
LifeWing's Aerie: Rainbow Mists Aerie
LifeWing's Appearance: Gesh is a handsome looking bird with red and black beak, and eyes to match. He had white and green feathers on his head, which appear to be slicked back so as to fall away from his neck, making a striking profile for him. His body is marked with brown, cream, white and black feathers. He also had dark wings that have shimmery blue markings on them, just at the point where his wings meet his body. He is a bit small for a Lifewing, reaching only 20 feet, but size has never been the most important feature in a Lifewing so he is more than content with his appearance.
LifeWing's Personality:Gesh is a somewhat proud creature, valuing his appearance and abilities. He did not link with a rider, and thus has no one to rely on but himself for healing. As such that put on him some pressure, but he has always felt that he could do it on his own. He enjoys being with his fellow Lifewings, but largely keeps out of Weyr life. When summoned he is nothing but professional, getting his work done as quickly as possible, and with as little energy as possible. He is only himself so he has to take precautions. When he was younger he used up enough energy that he couldn’t move, so is now keenly aware of such things.
LifeWing's History:Gesh was born to Filish and Ealash, part of a pair of eggs they had produced. His sibling, Alifish, was safely bonded to a human, but he did not do so, finding no human that his song matched. He has never regretted the decision, though has seen how much it changes a Lifewing’s view. Without a rider, he found no reason to give preference to the sorts of creatures he heals. However, since he had no rider he found himself uniquely qualified to specialize in songs that helped the inner workings of his patients. Such things healers were at loathe to attempt, he could stand back and achieve. He did well at it, but found one problem. Without a rider to share the burden with, he had to be very aware of his own limits. On one of his first stints healing, he used up too much energy and found himself unable to move. Healing such injuries, it took a lot of energy, even for short songs. Lesson learned, he strove to become even better at his job. Even now, he is a well-liked Lifewing, and has respect among the healers for doing what others cannot.
