Ayrenn laughed "I think we can all be a little temperamental sometimes.." Some more than others maybe. But she was curious about the wher being basically invisible if she put her mind to it. That was very interesting, and probably could come in handy if need be. "So she's dark colored, I gather then? That's really interesting though..sometimes I think it'd be nice to be invisible. I'd probably get in trouble." She laughed again.
"Oh that would be fun!" She said, meeting new people was always fun to her. And it would give her someone to talk to on those nights where she was just restless and couldn't seem to fall asleep. "It would definitely be nice to get to know some more people." Ayrenn felt like by this point in her time here she should have more friends. But perhaps friends would come when she put herself out there more. She certainly hoped so.

Lan chuckled good naturedly. He didn’t always think up things like that, but it was a normal enough thought. Usually among men while considering the opposite gender for… reasons. But most of the people he knew considered the potential benefits whenever Dalonia was around. For more obvious reasons. Namely skipping out on a tongue lashing.
“I think it’d b-b-be nice. For a while. B-b-but as for Ethilask, she’s a b-b-black with gray on her head. She l-l-looks quite nice.” And not just because the Wher would go berserk if he didn’t believe it. She knew how to show off her grace when she needed to, which helped. Mostly he thought her cute when she needed a little extra love, and spent a fair amount of time petting her. She was certainly an interesting creature.
“I can introduce you t-t-to Ethilask along with everybody else whenever you l-l-like.” And he’d be happy to do so. It was nice. He still got somewhat freaked out talking to new women he didn’t know, but as long as things went well, it was nice. He’d gotten used to more people being around, compared to just his family in the mountains of Dragon Ridge. But he still had turns and turns of habit to get out of his system. At least he was working on it now. He kept up a cheery expression as he asked her something.
“Are you hoping for any d-d-dragon in p-p-particular?” He saw she was a candidate, he’d never been up for that, and hadn’t been to any hatchings while he was here, oddly enough. Most of the folk he met were already riders by the time he talked to them. Barring that candidate that had got sent to help with the Whers as punishment. But that almost never happened. So he had to ask. Since he rarely did.
She tried to imagine the wher in her head, black with gray on her head..that was interesting. She'd seen such strange color patterns here in this Weyr. She liked it. Ayrenn had always thought whers were cute..in a weird way. They were certainly interesting..not as elegant seeming as dragons. But she supposed they had their perks, just like dragons. "Really?! You could introduce us? I'd love to see her! She sounds adorable!" Ayrenn was obviously excited, and her face flushed slightly once she'd noticed how loud she was. "Sorry." She said, much quieter, bringing her hands to her lips and looking quite sheepish.
"Really though, I'd love to meet Ethilask, and everyone else too. I'm sorry. I get a little..excited..can't help it." She blushed again, rubbing the back of her neck. Ayrenn turned her attention back to her klah, noting it was almost empty again. She frowned. That was probably why she felt so peppy at the moment. Shards.
"Um, really I'm hoping for literally any dragon." She laughed as she spoke, not loudly, she almost sounded disappointed. "I've been standing for a few turns now, hoping this is gonna be the last time." She elaborated, looking back up at him. "Lots of interesting colors here, and interesting combinations of colors." She continued, trying to actually decide if she had a particular color in mind. "The rainbows are probably my favorite, I'm beyond sure I won't impress to one of those. But they're gorgeous." Ayrenn liked color. "But, as far as what I'm hoping for..I honestly don't think I can pick. I'll be happy regardless of what they are." She grinned.

The man smiled as the candidate got very enthusiastic. He might not be like that usually, but he understood it. If you got passionate about something, it was often hard to reign in one’s energy. After all, he was the sort that got very, very passionate when the subject of pets got brought up. At least on levels of training and the like.
“It’s alright. I understand, at l-l-least a little. B-b-besides, if you l-l-like her already, I’m sure she’ll l-l-like you back.” The more sure that someone liked her, the more Ethilask was a straightforward image of a female Black Wher. It was when her insecurities ate at her, then it was easy to see the Gray creeping in.
He listened to her go on about dragons and he nodded as he listened. He still took a sip of klah now and then, as she talked about her favorites. Honestly, he’d been so worried about Dalonia watching him, he’d been very not nervous about getting a Wher. The whole thing was so sudden. It made sense that it would be more annoying if he had to wait for so long.
“I can’t speak for what you are g-g-going to impress, but I agree about the r-r-rainbows. One of my friends has one, at l-l-least a firelizrd r-r-rainbow, and she is quite the p-p-pop of color.” Friend was a good word for Saddyris, right? At least he hoped so, he hadn’t seen her in a while. He hoped things were going well with her family. “I hope you find a good p-p-partner, Ayrenn.” He hoped that was a good wish for a candidate.
What wasn't to like? The candidate might not understand what exactly makes a wher tick, and she had much more of an understanding of their larger dragon cousins..but that didn't make her like whers any less. She still thought the tiny ones were weird..she'd probably change her mind once she ended up with one of her own, which she'd heard was inevitable.
She propped her arms on the table, glancing around the dining hall and her mind wandered to what she'd be doing now if she had a dragon. She could only wonder, and hope that the future would help her find the answer to that. Ayrenn sipped at the last half of her klah, swirling the liquid around once more. "It's just interesting to me how many shades of color one dragon can come in. I mean, clearly other dragonkin can come in more than one color." Hence the wher he was bonded to. She really found that very interesting, that they'd not only have two colors but the personalities of both.
"Thank you, Lan." She smiled at him again. She really hoped so too, and with the hatching ever approaching she'd find out soon enough. "I definitely hope so too." He'd found one, he seemed quite happy with the black wher he was bonded to. She'd just hold on to determination and hope at this point. What else was there to do? She didn't know.

He nodded in agreement, when she spoke of dragon colors. They were certainly interesting. He had a rather unusual Wher, but a fairly ordinary firelizard. Not that he loved her any less for it. He’d heard of bright colors, two colors, bright ones covered by a black haze, and of course, cursed colors. He elected not to think about certain incidents surrounding that. After all, he wasn’t supposed to talk about it. Even if most of the handlers had some knowledge of it.
“Um, your w-w-welcome.” He was a bit nervous when she thanked him. He supposed he had said the right thing, but what now? His mind sort of blanked and he looked down into his mug. The klah did not save him from the (seemingly) awkward silence that followed. His face somewhat colored, but he took a gulp out of his cup to try and direct attention away from that. He really had no idea what to say now. This happened sometimes.
