Mae slid off Saith's side, mail pack slapping the grey hide on its way down with her. Thump. She stretched her legs a bit. Saith was a small Grey, but for her (and anyone going down a dragon's back, really) it was a long drop. She gave him a firm pat on the nose and he breathed a gust in her face that would have mussed up her hair were it not still caught up in her riding helmet. "Love you too, Saith. Be right back."
She adjusted the satchel and strode into the Aerie proper, unbuckling the helmet strap and loosening her flight jacket. She made the trip to the south from Ice Stone regularly but it was always too cold on leaving and too hot and humid on arriving. So it went. She'd snag a sweet or seven from the kitchens on her way out as payment for the inconvenience.
"Master Elwyn, special delivery," Mae called. She let herself into the back and was soon joined by a smiling man in his late 40s.
"Ah, Maelinne. Thank you. I hope the northern healers didn't have to go through too much trouble to get more iceroot for me."
"They threw in a couple other things too," Mae said, producing more packages. "They know it's a little hit and miss down here with the fighting. Wanted you to be prepared."
"Well let them know I appreciate it very much. I suspected you've got more deliveries-"
"Always."
"-So I shan't hold you. I'll have to send along a note of thanks next visit. You're like to be back down?" Elwyn said.
"Normal schedule, looks like, extra trip if anyone with a fancy enough knot asks." Mae replied. "Til next time then."
Elwyn opened the smallest box to find a supply of little forked leaves and some notes next to them on their properties, should he happen to need it, and to serve as a label for the box. Polite. "Thanks Mae!" he called after the leaving courier.
"You're welcome!" And soon the Grey was back in the sky and the two were off to the next stop: kitchen sweets.
