100 turns have passed since thread began falling for the first time in 1000. 56 turns have passed since it quit. 36 turns have passed since rain just stopped falling. 16 turns have passed since it began again. Now thread as returned with no warning.
A hundred turns ago thread fell for the first time in over a 1000 turns. Riders banded together and formed Lyer Weyr to protect the planet from the ancient foe. A few turns later a Gold took half the population to found a new weyr. The two never did see eye to eye. They worked together when they had too.
Thread fell for 44 turns and during that time Pern saw a third weyr be formed. All seemed well after thread stopped and riders began to spread out with some living almost solo lives. Ten turns of peace and harmony passed by, when suddenly a virus wiped out 98% of the population of the youngest Weyr as well as half the loners.
All was close to normal when suddenly rain just ceased falling. Twenty turns of drought followed, most of the riders took to living in the extreme North and the Extreme South, on the ice caps where they could find food and water. Poor diets caused the female's to almost cease clutching.
Lyer was re-inhabited 6 turns ago and brought back to a livable state. All seemed to be going well, Evelith the only Topaz remaining rose and was caught by a big bronze, until just as the queen was trying to ready the sands for eggs Thread returned and plunged the few remaining riders back into fighting. Most have returned to the weyr, but some have taken to raiding the weyr for food and then disappearing.
Topaz Evelith laid 10 eggs on the sands, but before they could even become hard enough for the touching a group of rogues attacked with the intention of steal and/or smashing the eggs.
