Moonlight Dai had been been watching over the last egg of her clutch. It had been ten eggs, but a tunnelsnake had ate two before she'd been able to save them, but she had killed the thing before it could eat the rest. People had come and claimed their eggs already and now there was only the one left. She knew of one that would give this last egg of hers a good home.
Dai crooned as she clutched the egg into her dark taloned claws and took flight. It was afternoon and her pet was off attending to other things. She went between to deliver her egg. She popped out of between into Phoenyx's room and placed the egg on the Weyrling's pillow. She gave a soft chirp before she went between back to her own pet's sleeping room.
The egg, once its mother left, began to wobble and rock a bit. The pace of its wobbling increased until cracks appeared on the shell and a piece of the shell fell off and an eye could be seen through the hole.

The grey hatching had been sleeping beside the cot as hers had gone to fetch more paper and pen to write to her family about her impression. Since they had runners to take care of they didn't get to see her impress or come to the feast. The grey that had been hidden in the shadows and stirred with the blink of a being coming into the room. Her eyes whirled a deep shade of blue as she watched the little creature drop off an egg that seemed like it was ready to hatch "Mine something just came and dropped off an egg"
"A what?!" The girl shrieked as she ran back into the room after coming from the kitchens staining her shirt as she spilled some ink from bumping into the door way.. "What the shells!" The girl said as she walked towards the bed only to hear the shell crack as she watched an eye look at her.. "ummm... hi?"
The owner of the eye, being addressed, chirp once. It was hard to tell, but it seemed to be saying, hello. The egg lurched forward suddenly, flopping down on the pillow, the tiny hole being covered as it went face down. Muffled chirping could be heard, and it appeared the inhabitant of the egg was a bit perturbed by this. The shell continued to crack though, and eventually the egg shattered, leaving the young firelizard on the pillow. She was a Blood, deep red with splashes of bright red over her hide. She hissed as she realized she was stepping on her wings and flared them out, falling on her back. No! She wriggled upright and turned around, creeling her hunger at Pheonyx. This one was nice, she would be fed, right? She would love and be loved by this person, forever.
