2.29.79 - Poica's Second RMW Clutch

There are two ways to go about this and neither is wrong; both can be chosen. Since Saddyris has no desire to become overburdened with her firelizard's progeny, she more or less just hands them out for the bare minimum as far as trades go and whatever is left over is brought to the dining hall for a free-for-all hatching where either someone feeds the remaining babies or they escape and go wild.

Trading for an Egg[/u]

This is done ooc and honestly Saddyris will take anything for an egg. A bit of cloth, feathers for fletching arrows, a favor, a rally tasty looking plate of meatrolls, a kiss (Lan). You can post which egg you've claimed here and hatch it in another thread or this one. I'll PM you the stats of your new family member!

Once everyone has had a chance to "trade" for an egg if they desire, everyone (even those who already have eggs) are welcome to attend the madness that is a firelizard hatching. Babies will be given out at random and you just have to shove food in its little face and its yours for life!



Largish Eggs[/u]
1. A bit of a lump on one side, never sits up properly - Savitr
2. A bit more round than egg-shaped but otherwise unremarkable - Saphiera
3. Small patch of mottling on the bottom - Nyx
4. Boring and egg-shaped
5. A bit pointy and splotchy

Normalish Eggs
6. Creamy and smooth
7. A few patches of rougher texture
8. Ovaly and otherwise perfect
9. A bit squished on one side
10. Awkward gourd-like shape
11. Slightly grey tinge to the shell
12. Picture perfect egg shape - Nyx
13. Almost perfectly round...weird - Shakti
14. A bit squished looking
15. Nothing spectacular; a bit lumpy
16. Light speckling - Saphiera
17. Dent from being poked too hard; oops
18. Ever present smudge of dirt - Shakti
19. Can eggs be chunky? - Savitr
20. Mottling near the top

Phoenyx walked up looking at the eggs and points the the large one with mottling on the egg "would you take some thing for this one?" The female eyed the egg closser liking the pattern on the pretty shell.

Saddyris plucked the egg from the wide, shallow basket she'd been keeping them in and cradled it in her hands. It was a decent sized egg and likely to yield something wonderful. "I'm not fussy. Trying to move as many as I can before they start hatching." In truth she'd hand the egg over for just about anything and did so promptly once the girl made her offer.

The girl looked shyly and offered two shells and pointed to the perfect shaped one "may I snag this one to miss?"

Shoving the shells into her pocket, Saddyris grinned and scooped up the egg that the girl pointed too. "The more the merrier. If you need help once they've hatched, just come find me. The name's Saddyris. Keep them warm and they should hatch in the next couple of days!" Handing the smaller egg over, the woman hoped that others would show as much interest.

Eggs! Firelizard eggs, to be precise. And what a fine way to encounter them - which is to say, randomly, as the best things tend to be in the world.

"My word," Savitr drawled, considering his options. "If you are inclined to part with these two," he pointed at a largish, lumpy one (1) and at the dubiously chunky one (19) with a flourish of fingers and a roll of the wrist, "then I would be glad to offer you a game or two of cards in return." His grin goes promptly lopsided, boyishly charming. "Or, if you would prefer, I shall offer a pair of favors - lady's choice, of course."

Saddyris glanced at the eggs in question and then back to the young man in front of her. "How about a card game and a favor? If the deal suits, they're all yours!" This was definitely going better than expected.

Savitr sucked his teeth and eyed Saddyris askance - but the quirk at the corner of his mouth suggested it was purely in jest. "You drive a hard bargain," he drawled with a wink. "But I do accept your offer - and gladly, at that. My name's Savitr - or Sav, if you're feelin' friendly-like."

The girl yelped as the perfect one wobbled in her hand almost causing her to drop both of them. She glanced at The girl setting them down undute of what to do as well she couldn't remember what really happened last time her firelizard hatched. Of course she had no food on her as she had just fed her baby and herself. What was the to do. She looked at the other girl worriedly hopeing for that help now

Saddyris smiled in return to Savitr. He was a peculiar lad, reminded her a little of her cousin D'nor. "Saddyris. Let me know if you need any help with those two once they hatch. Shouldn't be more than a day or two. Just keep them warm."

Before the girl who'd taken the first two eggs could leave, she gave a yelp and Saddyris dreaded for a moment that she'd dropped one or both of the treasures. When her gaze found the girl, the weyrling was staring at her with wide eyes, both eggs in tact. "One of 'em give a wiggle? Sometimes there's an early hatcher, was a little warmer than the others." Sticking her hand into a pouch on her belt, the woman held out a bit of jerky. "That should hold you over in case it hatches."

"Not to worry, friend," Savitr is quick to reply, the Bitran wasting no time to reassure Saddyris. The eggs are deftly swaddled in a coil of cloth - though where it came from? Who knows, honestly. Probably best not to ask. They're cradled in close to the gambler's chest, though, and they're as safe as safe can be. "I will care for them as if they were my own, blood children."

His grin manifested again, bright and toothy. "And when they do hatch, I will come a-calling for that game of cards. Unless you would care to seek me out at Bitra, instead?" He spares a glance for the other poor girl that seems to be fumbling a bit, but the man does not linger. With a tip of his head to Saddyris, he hastens away.

Saphiera walked up with the crowd of people trading off for eggs. She adjusted her riding belt and breeches, smoothing out her light blue tunic to make sure she looked presentable. "I'd like to purchase this second egg...." she said, pointing to it before turning her head to the other, "And this sixteenth egg over here." she said, pointing to another. The DarkBlue rider pulled out a small pouch and procured a few marks for it, "Would this do?" offering them over to Saddyris.

Saphiera chuckled at him, Anything you'd like, my heart.

Consider it a deal, only because it takes all day anyways.

Granted, Shakti should be at Ice Stone Weyr to await her fate, but the laundress-turned-Candidate was nothing if not resourceful. Also, the eggs weren't due to hatch right now, so there was no harm in getting a bit of travel under her belt, right?

The reason for her trip was swiftly derailed when she discovered there were firelizard eggs. Which, of course, prompted the occasional cosmetologist to seek out the owner of the eggs - in as much as anyone can own them anyway.

"Oh, jays. Those two look like they could use some care," Shakti said to Saddyris, pointing at one that looks dirt smudged (18) and the grayish one (11). "If you're willing to part with them... hm." She tapped her chin thoughtfully. "I can offer a nice hair cut? Maybe some perfume, yeah? Nicely scented oil? Some color for your lips?"

In truth Saddyris would have given out the eggs for free if it meant not ending up with an entire fair of them, but the trader in her kept her lips sealed and accepted whatever was offered, negotiating a bit for the larger eggs. But so far she deemed the offers more than fair. She collected marks from Saphiera and when Shakti approached and showed interest in a pair of average sized eggs, she was ready to just accept whatever was offered.

To her surprise, what was offered actually interested her. Perhaps not the hair cut. She was quite attached to her long hair but perfume or scented oil? What would Lan think if she smelled less like leather and runnerbeasts and more like...whatever fancy women smelled like? Or if she tinted her lips? "I might be interested in something like that. Nothing too silly though, mind you."

"Oh, jays, no," Shakti replied quickly and with a vigorous shake of her head. "You can take your pick of anything I have, yeah? And if you don't like any of that, then I can see about making something you do like."

The cosmetologist-slash-Candidate unslung her bag from her shoulder and opened it up, revealing small jars and vials, well-padded against the chill of between. Clearly, she had either done plenty of traveling with this stuff - or planned on doing so.

All of the jars and bottles and so forth were all nicely labeled; lip stains, rouges, eye shadows, some moisturizing lotions of some sort, oils, and so on. Though there were a fair few floral scents, a few were more exotic and nicely spicy in their own way. With the offer on the table - quite literally! - she would leave it to Saddyris to pick whichever items she wanted.
