I mostly know what is written and what you have told me over the years.
I think that there needs to be an expansion and breakdown of the of Aerie society, which you are planning on doing anyways. I also think that it needs to be expanded on the intricacies of the healing process of Lifewings and what it is their Riders must do as well as about Mating, Hatching, Flights, and general training and the process of becoming a full fledged Rider.
I also think it'd be good to go over the mentality or psychology of Lifewings verses dragons. That would be something interesting and good to know.
I agree with everything Simile said, but I also think there should be a clear cut section on their appearance, size, etc. The dragons have a whole thread devoted to their colors, so I think there should be a section describing Lifewings and their traits, also variations that are possible/plausible within those traits. I guess as a new person I haven't had the good luck to be able to read lots of in-thread descriptions of them, so I think one consolidated place would be nice :3
It's difficult because they don't have one set appearance. They become whatever type of bird best suits the person they Impressed to... ^^;
ohhh, see, I don't think that was clear. I read that they "that they are unLinked, will develop physical traits most like their innate personality. LifeWings Linked near birth develop physical traits that best reflect those of their Rider's character or "song"." But I wasn't sure how wide the variation was within that. Is it the difference between two identical birds one becoming a swan the other an eagle? I was thinking it was just like if they are strong willed/powerful, they grow bigger, if they're vain they become pretty and sleek. I wasn't sure how much variation those differences entailed... Dragons are all similar in morphology other than slight differences in size and proportions, and of course, colors and fire strength...

Yeh, and mention it's because a raven/crow is a DeathWing, that's probably important too. xD

Basically, when you have a character Link to a LifeWing, -you- get to choose what they become. It takes a little research on a real-life bird, what its personality is like (or what impression it gives off. Motherly, predatory, etc.) Then you go with what suits your character.
The first LifeWing Hatching I did I assigned bird types to people, but this says they pick. Which is interesting too. Is that what we'll be doing now with chicks?
