"Hm," Kaya added half way through Adelia's explanation. She had Impressed there, at Waterfall Valley, many Turns ago. Still, Rainbow Mists had become her home. It was the place where she'd raised her family, defended her people and eventually lost her weyrmate. There was no other place she could be now. In a way she understood leaving, and in a way she didn't. After seeing the number of transfers she had in her days as Weyrwoman, she knew that there were all number of reasons to move. "If she's not aware that we're looking for a transfer, you may think to send her a note by fire lizard. It can't hurt to ask and I'm sure Rilora would appreciate having some variety to look over so the other GoldRider and I can instruct her in other Weyr matters, QueenRiders and leadership. She's a good student but still young - she's painfully aware of that. She ought to be a bit more lighthearted, like her sister. Seriousness seems to be a burden of leaders, though, I can't blame her." Kaya wondered if it always had to be so. If there had been or would be days when a leader could feel less than the weight of the entire world on their shoulders. She wasn't sure.
"Well, if you're hungry, you can leave your bags here and we'll head up to the Dining Hall together." Kaya finished, indicating a corner where Adelia could leave her bags.
She waited patiently, and when Kaya didn't immediately shoot down her comment about Auralina and her Gold, she smiled prettily and nodded. "I'll do that tonight then, since she tends to be busy during the day," she replied.
As the former Weyrwoman continued, she flushed slightly, but nodded and set her things down gently in the corner. "I'd appreciate that," she said.
"If you're in need of writing supplies, one of the Masters will have them. As a Weyr, we encourage letter writing. In any case, leave your bags there and we'll be off," Kaya finished up, moving back toward the door. When Adelia left the room she'd close it. Weyrlings knew better than to mess with the Masters' office. "I do hope they have some sweets left," Kaya mentioned idly, waiting. "Sometimes the excitement sees them all gone too quick - and a few stomach aches the next day. Ah, well, let's be off then," Kaya said and closed the door.
"Looks like you're getting a pretty good tour after all," Kaya smiled, heading back to the cavern's entrance. It was the only way in and out of the living complex. Looking out the door she felt the warm sky again and then proceeded to the Dining Hall. It seemed to be shaping up to be a quiet late day following the energetic Hatching. "There's a way to get into the kitchens from the inside, but since it's nice we can just use the outside stairs," Kaya mentioned as she started to climb. She worked her way, slower though, up the outside steps to the Dining Hall's ledge - a favorite lunch spot of many. "You should meet some of the new Weyrlings. I'm sure they've got more energy and exciting things to talk about than me," Kaya encouraged the new Candidate as she waited by the entry to the Hall, to let Adelia go first.
The Candidate nodded and followed her quietly, listening as she spoke. Her head cocked ever so slightly as she started up the stairs, noticing how slowly she moved, although she politely chose not to comment on it, merely followed. When she finished, she smiled faintly and nodded once more. "Maybe," she admitted. She then went inside and looked around her, worrying her lower lip as she saw how many people were there. Taking a deep breath, she moved further inside, strictly telling her Flits to remain close. She trusted Beam not to lose herself in the crowd, but Wave was a little more friendly and personable.
