The sound of light rain had eyes rising towards the door, but the rain passed as quickly as it had come. That brought hazel eyes back down to the sheet they'd been examining. A schedule of all the Candidate chores and assignments, for the next sevenday, brought to her by her superior moments before she'd left on some other errand.
Sighing, she raised a hand and ran it through her hair, currently in only a ponytail instead of its normal intricate braids within a braid. It was messy, testifying this was not the first time she'd done so. A gentle touch to her mind, concerned and loving, had her eyes rising again, though she couldn't see the source, meaning that her Wood was still on her ledge rather than outside the entrance to the office where she liked to curl up, since it was closer to her Mine. She touched back, and felt her dragoness relax, reassured her Own was merely annoyed, not in trouble.
Her way of ordering things is difficult to make sense of, she complained, and felt gentle amusement ring through her mind, though Orylth didn't speak, just let her gripe, knowing it would do no good. The complaint had been the same since they arrived. Her Mine liked things more organized where the Candidates were concerned, but as they were in a trial phase, she'd been made an Assistant rather than a full Mistress, and was champing at the bit at the constraints.

Cyan made her way back around the barracks, nibbling on some bread while she moved. The twine she was practicing on today had been shoved into her pocket, though some knotted ends could be seen spilling form it. She had been fiddling with knots again, since it was the easiest thing to work on as a candidate and her brother had been exactly right about that. Still, she wanted to see if she couldn't get some chores out of the way early to get a bit of extra time later.
The last nibble of bread disappeared into the candidate's mouth as she tried to make her way to the Candidate Master's office. She thought she would try to ask about the schedule even though it could sound like she was volunteering for extra chores if she wasn't clear. She paused for a moment as she got closer taking a deep breath of air. There was a lovely clean feeling in the air, something she associated with rain. It was different from the sea, but very much like a good fog. She started humming a little bit, happy to smell the passing rain. She continued humming until she arrived in front of the office, where she stopped. It could be hard for her to remember if she was humming or not sometimes, but she certainly tried to not be disruptive about it. Didn't mean it had not happened to her before. She poked her head around to see if anyone was in.
The sound of footfalls had her head cocking, and Ylara waited patiently, hands folded over the sheet before her. The sight of the head coming around the door had her lips quirking, and she motioned the girl in. "How can I help you?" she asked politely, unconsciously shifting so her Woodrider knots were visible to the girl. She didn't really need to, but it had become a habit at Ista that she was still fighting with. She'd get over it eventually, but she was sure it would likely take time.

Cyan looked surprised for a moment, not expecting who she found. She had expected the blood rider to be in, for some reason. She had to admit to herself that she didn't know all that much about the Candidate Master, and most certainly hadn't been around to see how much she was in the office. She nodded quickly in response and went inside the office, taking a second to look around it before facing the wood rider fully. She knew of the Assistant Candidate Master, but hadn't really meet her before, but she seemed nice enough. Perhaps she could help out, or at least she would be helpful in finding the Candidate Master.
"I was wondering if you knew if it were possible for my chores to be mostly in the beginning of this next week? I don't know if that's how it works, but I thought I could ask." She smiled a little bit, looking just a little hopeful. "Or, I could ask again when the Candidate Master is around, uh, I don't know." She fiddled with the knots that where hanging out of her pocket, for something to do while she stood as still as she could manage.
Ylara blinked when she heard the request, then looked to the sheet beneath her hands. "What's your name young one?" she inquired kindly, considering it for a moment. "And why are you putting in this request?" Her gaze rose to the girl once more, patient and kind, but also curious, and with just a hint of intensity. It was an odd request, to say the least, so knowing why it would be made would make it easier to decide in the long run if it should be honored or not.
"My name is Cyan. Or, uh, Cyanee Velion." The candidate occasionally had to remind herself that the name more likely to be on formal paper sounded more like a cutsie nickname then her nickname. Multiple 'e's apparently ran in the family, or so she was told. When the woodrider asked about her reason she paused for a moment and fiddled with the knots again. "Well, my brother said he wanted to supervise my practice. I'm practicing net knots, and he wants to make sure I'm not forgetting." She paused for a moment, getting a touch sheepish. "I thought if I had a good day for it then I could catch up for as long as he's got time as well, maybe the whole day if I'm lucky. He said he'd be checking in sometime later in the week." She wasn't sure if Cr'wean had as rigid a schedule as some, but he seems kinda vague before.
A frown furrowed her brows and she looked to the paper again, looking for the name. "Says here she's got you scheduled to assist with running messages between the kitchen and stables," she said mildly. "That happens everyday, three times a day, but your time is the dinner run. So technically, you have the entire day free as is." A smile played on her lips once more, banishing the frown as she watched the Candidate. "Who's your brother?"
Cyan's face was an open book as Ylara spoke on her assignment. First a touch of curiosity, listening to the assignment she was getting this week. She hadn't done that before, which meant it would be novel, and maybe a little fun. It was followed by a look of interest, which is what she usually got when she was learning something new. She might eventually get one of each shift, she was beginning to understand. It changed very quick to a smile, pleased at the good luck. She was half ready to bounce out of the room with joy, but didn't when another question was posed to her. "My brother is Cr'wean. He's a lifewing rider, linked to Kiyosh. He acts kinda grumpy to people but he's really nice if you get to know him." She chuckled a little at that, and quickly added, "Don't know if you have met him though."
Hazel gaze watched her face as she was told her assignment, and she flicked dark brows upwards as Cyan spoke of her brothrr. "Can't say I've had the pleasure actually," she replied mildly, curiosity touching her tone as she added "A Lifewingrider huh..? I've never seen one of them before, though I've heard a lot about them..."
Cyan smiled and said, "Well I would be happy to introduce you to him sometime. He doesn't mind people I introduce him to. Although to warn you he might be quiet, he can be that way. Oh but Kiyosh more then makes up for it. She loves people. I've been told some people think she looks scary with her sharp talons and beak but I think she just looks lovely." The excitement in her dark eyes was plain to see, and her hands were animated as she spoke. The candidate was very much a fan of both her brother and his lifewing partner. And idea had gotten stuck in her head watching the two of them, not that she was conscious of what it was. Still, she folded her olive toned hands in front of her and added, a little quieter, "I mean, if you would like to meet them, you don't have to if you are busy."
Evaine slipped through the hallway of the Candidate barracks, arms crossed over her chest. Her eyes quickly darted over each Candidate that passed. None seemed likely to be somebody who would sneak into the Candidate Master's barracks or - you know, wherever - and replace their name with hers. Besides, it would have to be somebody who knew her name-
-though, considering how diligently she had worked as a Candidate, it was likely she was being used as an example.
Mine, perhaps you should just gather the Candidates and yell at them. It seems easier. For the last time, Chatorth, that's rude! I can't yell at people who haven't done anything wrong! Sure you can. You just open your mouth and make noise. It's not hard. Go back to sleep.
From the other side of the Weyr, her Black curled back up into his bed, tucking his tail under his chin and letting his eyes half close. He had woken up too early again, but there was nothing to be done about that at the moment. Evaine would have to take care of that at some point.
She turned a corner and swung her way into the Candidate Master's office, taking a quick step back as she caught the tail end of a conversation. "...you don't have to if you are busy."
Oh. She hadn't expected anybody besides the new woman in charge to be in here. And now there were two people. "Oh. Um. Hi? Sorry, I didn't mean to intrude."
The Woodrider remained silent, a gently amused smile on her lips as Cyan babbled. But she was listening at the same time, learning what she was able from the information she was given. She was about to answer the girl when someone-another young woman with Blackrider knots, she noticed after a swift glance-came through the door. "No, no, it's quite alright Blackrider," she said soothingly. She then looked back to Cyan. "I would love to meet him at some point, him and his Kiyosh," she told the Candidate, though one hazel eye remained on the othrr woman, and curiosity tickled through the Bond she had with her Wood. Orylth?
The Wood raised her head and considered the woman through her Mine's eyes. I do not know her, Mine, she said after a moment. Perhaps you should ask.
Evaine moved out of the door frame and into the room, taking a step to the left and leaning against the wall. "I didn't mean to intrude. My apologies."
Yes you did. That was the entire purpose of coming here. Chatorth, could you do me a favor? Of course, Mine! Stop talking.
The Black sent a wave of disgruntlement through their bond, but heeded the request of his Rider. A smile twitched Evaine's lips for a moment, then she sighed and crossed her arms. She peered at the Candidate... Mistress? She hadn't heard of a new announcement, though perhaps this was a trial period. Or she had missed it. But to be fair, she hadn't expected anybody she knew to be in here, so no sense in thinking about it too hard.
Ylara shook her head to the Blackrider, letting her know she was fine, then looked to Cyan once more. "If you'll excuse us?" she said gently, hinting that unless the Candidate had something else she wished to speak about, she wanted to talk to the Blackrider and see what the woman wanted.
Cyan was visibly distracted after the weyrling entered the office. From what she could tell the other girl was around her age, though she could be a year or two off. Yet, she had impressed a dragon. In her head this made sense, but she was still struck with the idea that some her age had a friend for life. Cyan realized that she would appear very small compared to the other girl, as she was petite and shorter. Cyan's dark eyes regarded the weyrling with curiosity before snapping out of her observations at the Assistant Candidate Master's request. "Of course. Sorry. Thank you very much for your help. I'll bring my brother around sometime to say hi. Excuse me." The girl nodded to both of them and slipped out into the hall, deciding it was time to enjoy the out of doors now that the rain had passed.
