-Aurora Theia-Seeming to be the Borealis given form, she is a beautiful mix of shades, from a shimmering green, royal purple and shining yellow, to a rich and vibrant white, all on a background of dark, dark blue. She's a little small for her hue, but is feisty and playful, as well as unendingly loyal to her Laria, who she devotedly acts as a sort of guide to when it concerns her blind left side, sitting on her shoulder and alerting her to things approaching on it.
-Blue-Purple Tanzanite- His hide is beautifully colored, mainly blue, but with just enough of a purple sheen to it, as well as a slight fade into a pale purple on his underside, to keep him from being decisively Blue. It is for this trait that his name came about, for he is named for a stunning gemstone. Young and quirky, he is constantly getting into things, curious as a purple, and cunning as a blue, but well-trained despite that, and ever obedient to his Laria's gentle commands. He does have a fondness for sweetrolls that sometimes over-rides even her training, but this hasn't proven to be a hindrance so far, or put him in any danger of anything but being scolded by her and by his 'sister' Theia.
-Grey Gus- Gus is, as most of his hue, an unbroken and slightly melancholy grey hue. He is possessed of uncommon wisdom for one of his age, and has a rather world-weary look to him. He is easily annoyed by Tanzanite's playful antics, seeing them as childish and silly, but is just as easily liable to hunker down and seem to cower if he's scolded by his Mine or Theia.
Appearance: She is blessed with a VIVID crown of firey red hair, laced liberally with golden highlights from rukbat's exposure, that hangs roughly halfway down her back and appears to have been subjected to a rough attempt at cutting lately, being uneven and slightly jagged at the ends. Her good eye is a dark brown, not quite black, and is kept as neutral as possible in an attempt to keep feelings hidden from the world around her. The other one is hidden behind a heavily scarred lid, which appears to be sewn permanantly shut, and is obviously unusuable. Standing at an impressive 5'9", she towers over most other women, and is on par with slightly shorter males of her age, and is lean and slightly underfed looking, though not outright skin and bones. Her skin is dark, a rich, chocolatey brown that is striking with her hair color, and she tends to wear hues that are more designed to "cool" her hair hue rather than bring out eyes or skin. She wears no jewelry, no personal accessories other than a leather choker, upon which hangs a single claw from what looks like a Wherry.
Personality: Her views on the world are distorted and strange, and are a reflection of her rather stilted and strange upbringing. She has a very hard time believing people can be good, despite having seen more evidence of it than she can describe, her own experiences all being of the bad sort of thing. The only light in her life is her Fire-Lizards, both of whom she has carefully and painstakingly trained to the highest possible level she is capable of. She loves them more than anything else, or anyONE else, she has ever possessed or known, and takes extremely good care of them.
When her mind is opened to the idea of GOOD people, she is cautiously approachable, though wary and always seeming ready to bolt if the slightest cruelty or mean-spiritedness is shown in any way. A comment about her Fire-Lizards is generally a good way to try and get her talking, and her odd sense of humor shows itself in these conversations, as she will happily relate stories and tidbits about her current pair, and her hopes to obtain at least one more. She would love to be a Dragonrider, but has already been told, in no uncertain(though not cruel) terms that her blindness makes it impossible. So now she focuses on the "little dragons" and wants to be a recognized Fire-Lizard trainer someday...
History: She was born to a southern-born woman said to be a barren, and sired by a cruel jerk of a man, who abandoned her when her mother died three days after her birth of complications and excessive bleeding. It being the middle of winter, in the region of Ice Stone, she would have died if not for a caravan of traders and entertainers who heard her crying and took her in, one of their women, a very talented weaver, raising her alongside her own daughter. Her first name is a combination of her adoptive parents' names, her true parents' names being unknown, and her last name is that of her adoptive mother, as the Caravan traced maternal lineage rather than paternal. As she aged, Laria was trained in the ways of the Caravan, first in how to steal money from unwary travelers, and then how to use her body to obtain it when she started showing incredible promise of beauty. Her unusual appearance made her very popular with the customers, although this never inspired any jealousy in any of the other women, all gains, monetary and otherwise, being shared among all members of the Caravan. However, at the age of fifteen, she was "entertaining" a customer when rather abruptly another man, highly drunk and fancying himself in love with her, came bursting through the door. He called her a whole slew of ugly names, and came at her and her customer with a knife. Though the man interposed himself between them, the knife stroke still managed to hit, and Laria was blinded in her left eye, the wound leaving an ugly scar that never quite healed right and made it much harder for her to do her job(for which she was removed from that position and made a simple cook and child caretaker). The healer of the Caravan decided to just sew her eye shut completely, as it would never recover and be usable again, and eventually, she semi-adapated to the odd right-side state of her life, having to constantly turn her head and attune her other senses to keep track of her surroundings. It was because of this high level of sensitivity that Laria picked out the sound of squealing fire-lizards and screaming wherries one day, and the caravan rushed to the scene, finding a wherry attack on a communal nest in progress. The wherries were slain, one by Laria herself(the claw of which her choker was made), and roughly a quarter of the clutch saved, some of which was already hatching. One of these, a beautiful little Aurora, clambered over to Laria and begged so prettily for food that the girl, then eighteen, couldn't resist her, feeding her and taking her from the scene of the massacre back to her wagon. She called her Theia, and as the Aurora aged, she began to show an odd quirk of keeping to Laria's left shoulder and alerting her to when something or someone was approaching her on that side. In this way, Theia essentially became her 'other eye' and made her far more independent than she'd been since being injured, allowing her more freedom. At 19, a Green dragon was flying overhead and came down, having sensed some potential promise in some of the Caravans younger members, and Laria approached, eagerly hoping she was one of them. The dragoness turned her head and looked to her, but then looked away again, and her rider gently informed Laria that, while his Green had felt her eagerness, she, sadly was not suitable for candidacy due to her disability. The news that her old injury would keep her forever from her fondest dream broke Laria's heart, but also strengthened her resolve to become as good with the 'little dragons' as she possibly could. With this in mind, she asked the rider if she could possibly go to the Weyr anyways, not as a Candidate, but as a Fire-Lizard trainer, and showed him how well-trained Theia was. He was not overly impressed, but his Green convinced him, and she was transported to Ice Stone Weyr, where she worked diligently at continuing to train Theia, as well as assisting others, when possible, with their Fire-Lizards. At the age of 20, she heard of RMW for the first time, and her heart ached to see the beautiful, vibrant scenery of which the riders who'd been there spoke. Again, the same Green as had taken her to Ice Stone convinced her rider to transport the girl, and she was brought to RMW, in time for a Fire-Lizard Hatching on the beach, where she obtained a beautiful little male who was neither Purple nor Blue but a beautiful combination of the two. She called him Tanzanite, and almost immediately began working with him as she had with Theia, aided by the older female in his training.
