[73.13.21] - Early afternoon
Hedara are you perhaps ready?
Hedara leaned back in her chair, holding a half finished roll. She was taking her midday meal, which was not quite done. However, she mulled over the feelings coming from Temperanth. Excitement, and a hint of nervousness. Well, perhaps she might as well be done. It sounded like something joyous was going to start soon. Hedara smiled just a little at that, but there was still a sinking feeling in the pit of her stomach. It wasn't anything she could fix, so she merely cleaned her place and headed toward the Hatching Sands, where she knew the Ice would be.
As Hedara entered she looked around quickly, just to be sure. The place looked fine, the eggs all in their place, everything in shape. Of course, the large dragoness was hovering over the eggs, though she looked up when Hedara arrived. To the sides of the sands, Hedara caught the glint of reflective ice, something that had been a part of hatchings at the icy Weyr long before humans returned to it. It still happened now, that a dragonet would decide against bonding to a human, though not nearly as many as before. Still, what both Hedara and Temperanth wanted, was not necessarily that the dragonets impress humans, but merely that they were safe and happy. With that in mind Hedara looked back at Temperanth, raising her eyebrow. Well? The gaze asked. Is it time?
Temperanth looked down at her eggs. They were arranged neatly, though three of them sat closer to her then the rest. Hedara had asked about the strange three sitting there, a varied size group for favorites. Temperanth insisted that they weren't favorites. They were just eggs that needed extra love. Now one of these eggs showed signs of moving. Not quite trying to break free, merely the beginning of the attempts. The Ice began to hum, softly first, then it grew until Hedara could hear the sound. The rider smiled, just a touch more and went to take her place. The hatching was starting! Temperanth went about announcing the happy news to Varketh, though soon the whole Weyr would know. Humming dragons tended to be a hint to large to be unnoticed.
