Temperanth's Hatching [73.13.21]

Kyuuki smiled a touch more. "Oh no. Just ice brought in for the dragonets. It is warm in here so it melts a little during the hatching, but that also makes it reflective." Another voice was heard for Tamaruk but Kyuuki turned to see who it was. A flash of recognition could be seen over her face, and she smiled slightly. Oh, it was Nickta. Not that any queen rider wouldn't get plenty of recognition, but it helped that they were similar in age as well. That and Kyuuki had watched Nickta impress. That was helpful.

The Cloud and Brick decided to go look around the male candidates. Maybe something fun was that way. They weren't as serious looking as their Sunlance sibling was. The Sunlance was looking around worriedly around at all of the candidates, before looking visibly relieved and impressing. It had taken a while. Meanwhile the Midnight was making a beeline for the candidates. He wanted to impress and be off the sands. Maybe it was quieter elsewhere. He impressed quickly and got away from all the noise. Thank Farnath.

Back at the eggs, two hatched at the same time, a Blue and a Darkblue. They both took a moment to look at each other, trying to figure out how things would go now. They both started and headed toward the candidates together. Then, they both impressed. They may have been late to hatch, but they certainly didn't want to take their time impressing. The eggs behind them seemed to catch the feeling as well. Another egg broke open, revealing a Citrine dragoness. She trotted away to join her Moonlight sister looking at the female candidates.

The Dream shook off some of the tiredness and went to see the candidates. He could rest after he impressed. Oh, and he had to eat. That too. It wasn't long. Hatching was hard, impressing, well, that was easy as pie.

The Citrine and Moonlight continued to review the female candidates. As they went along, they were about to move past Korvalia when the Moonlight stopped. She looked up at her and her eyes began to whirl excitedly. Oh, KorvaliaLove! I'm so glad to have found you. I'm Korinath! Isn't this exciting? All my siblings running around having fun. We'll get to meet them soon I hope. But I am really hungry, so I think I could wait a little while on that. The Moonlight looked at hers with love, so pleased to have impressed. Her Citrine sister was just behind her, impressing quickly.

The last egg on the sands was moving again. It had been moving on and off but now it was moving in earnest. It slowly began to hatch, different bits of egg falling away until finally the dragonet inside pushed free. She was a lovely black dragoness, tiny for her color. Upon closer inspection it was easier to see why. There was graying along her wings, which eventually got light enough to be called white. Just in case it could not be determined from that, at the very tip of her wing, in certain light, there was that rare bit of multi-colors that Whites could have. Her wings were a little small for her size, but she looked lovely anyway. The Black-White reveled in being the last to hatch, enjoying the eyes on her. Her Silverlight brother watched, pondering the display. Well maybe it wasn't so bad. So her headed in the direction of the candidates, quietly and carefully.

Meanwhile the Cloud and Brick were heading back to the female candidates. The Cloud suddenly bounced away, to the female candidates leaving the Brick to wander around by herself to find hers. The Cloud didn't notice when the Brick impressed, too happy to find someone she wanted as her lifemate. Oh yes, there was to be much fun to come, but first she had to enjoy the time now. Her happy bouncing brought her to Diamond, and it was clear from her whirling eyes how she felt. Hello DiamondMine! Shall we go now? The sand is nice and all but Xinalinth would like to go and have some fun!

The Black-White was taking great joy in going over to impress, while her Silverlight brother was looking at the stands. So many people. So many gazes looking at him. However, there was something inside him that told him if he didn't face it, he wouldn't be happy. So he got closer to the stands, looking up at all of the people. So many. Dragons and humans watched him. It made him nervous. Maybe they didn't like him. He wouldn't like that. Oh, but somehow, even his fear of that let him see something in all the people there. Rough, stubborn people, but somehow, he liked them. He didn't understand it at all. All he knew was that he was both fearful of them and yet drawn to them. He didn't stop looking as he was left on the sands, his Black-White sister impressing. Then he spotted someone. He forgot everything for a moment, and headed toward the stands in earnest. Oh, he wanted to get up there! He ran toward them, jumping up to them and finding what he was looking for. T'ruk! Mine please, can you help get me food? I'm hungry. Oh, but my name is Azeriuth, not hungry. That would be a silly name. It was with the Silverlight trying to get to his that the hatching ended, for every dragonet had safely impressed.

Moonlight (f) Korinath (Core - ee -nath)
About: Korinath loves people. People, dragons, even lifewings, she wants to hang out with everyone. She likes being up and out during anytime of the day or night, just so long as hers is up as well. She can be a little bit of a chatterbox at times, and will pick up any bit of rumor or gossip with a gusto. Watch out, if she hears any gossip about herself, she will give the one who started it a long, long lecture.

Cloud (f) Xinalinth (Shi -nah -lin -th)
About: This cloud dragoness loves to play. However, she isn't content to sit around and play quietly or just with her rider. She needs other dragons to play with, and friends to joke with. She will organize races, build snow forts, and generally run around the entire Weyr in her quest for fun. She calls people who bar her from this spoilsports, but she can't really hold grudges. After all, give people a while to warm up and of course they will want to play, right?

Silverlight (m) Azeriuth (Ah - zair - ee - uth)
About: Azeriuth is a very optimistic dragon. He can see good in almost anyone and has a knack for getting a feel for peoples' strengths. It means that he will make a good leader, if he can get over his problem with crowds. Azeriuth easily gets overwhelmed in large groups of people or dragons, preferring flitters or whers for company if he has the option. Lifewings are intimidating if they are in large numbers but he can do fine with a few good friends.

It was nearing the end of the Hatching, only a handful of eggs remained to hatch and several hatchlings still lingered. Korvalia was beginning to wonder if this was her last chance. Her mother had been left standing several times before she’d left the Weyr. Of course did she not Impress, Korvalia had no intention to leave the Weyr, and certainly not in the condition her mother had left. She was just as particular about the young men that came near her as she was about everything else. More often than not she simply ignored the boys that did not meet her standards; something that wasn’t likely to change. With a faint frown, Korva shook her head, clearing it of all the scattered thoughts about her mother and her future. If her dragon was in this clutch, or any other for that matter, it would find her. If there was no dragon for her, so be it, it would not be the end of her. She had plans; many, many plans.

As several of the remaining eggs began to hatch in tandom, Korvalia took a slow, deep breath and studied each one with a critical eye. Blue and Darkblue; both male and therefore not for her—as she was so convinced that should she Impress it would be to a female—then a Citrine, looking very much like the Sunlance. It wasn’t long before the remaining hatchlings seemed to realize that it was time and one by one they all seemed to converge on the female candidates. Lifting her chin slightly as the Citrine and Moonlight began to pass her only to raise a brow as the darker dragonet paused in front of her and looked up. As she watched, Korvalia saw what seemed to be scores of different colors spark in the hatchling’s eyes as they began to whirl faster. Then the voice came, soft, steady and blessedly female.

Oh, KorvaliaLove! I'm so glad to have found you. I'm Korinath! Isn't this exciting? All my siblings running around having fun. We'll get to meet them soon I hope. But I am really hungry, so I think I could wait a little while on that.[/b] Korva blinked twice, no more and no less, as she peered at the young dragoness, her brow creeping further and further up with each consecutive sentence until she was sure that the little female wouldn’t stop. The muscle beside her nose twitched again and then finally there was silence; well in the woman’s head at least. With her attention on the dark dragoness, she missed the final egg hatching and the remaining Impressions as she looked over the Moonlight. She was beautifully built and her hide seemed to be a uniform, dark color marred only by the wispy golden markings. Against her will, something inside the young woman softened for a moment and Korinath slipped into her head, as obnoxious as she might have been, Korvalia had succeeded where her mother had not. Not only was she now a Weyrling but she had avoided wasting her youth on a troublesome like her older brother had been.

”Yes…exciting.” Korva said softly to the young dragon. ”If you are hungry then I shall feed you, but mind that you don’t make a mess.” This was one thing about Impression that she’d found no way around. At the five previous clutches, the young woman had watched how the young dragonets had eaten with a great deal of disgust at the mess they made. Trying to come up with a way to circumvent the inevitable, Korvalia glanced up just in time to see the Silverlight scramble over the barrier and into the stands and narrowed her eyes slightly. She would’ve stayed there with a faint scowl on her face until the thing Impressed but a gnawing hunger tugged her attention downward once more and she sighed. Spinning neatly on her heel without a word, she made her way with her chin high towards the feeding station. Any watching might find it rather amusing that a Moonlight had chosen the uptight young woman if only because they were so visually different; one dark and the other light.

Would you look at that, my brother found his boy in the stands! I am certainly glad that you did not hide all the way up there. Why do you suppose the boy hid up there? Oh my, am I ever hungry, are we there yet? Oh yes, yes we are![/b]

Once more the muscle to the left of Korvalia’s nose began to twitch as Korinath babbled away as she followed along behind the blonde woman. It was nice to know that the Silverlight had Impressed to a boy as was proper but would the dragoness never be quiet? Finally reaching the feeding station, Korvalia glanced down at her white robes then at the bowls of bloody meat and frowned slightly. How to go about this so that she didn’t ruin her clothing—though why she even bothered, seeing as she would never again wear the robes of a Candidate, some might wonder. Waving down one of the women that worked in the kitchen, she managed to talk the girl out of her apron and though it wasn’t in the best of shape it was better than nothing. Quickly tying it around her clothing, Korvalia took one of the bowls then moved away with the Moonlight who continued to babble about her siblings, interspersing it with claims of epic hunger.

Look there, that girl looks like you but different. I wonder how much I can eat, I feel like I could eat a lot. Oh! It is my sister over there, she Impressed right after me, see look! And over there, she hatched last; the one with the girl that looks like you.[/b]

Frowning, Korvalia glanced up, attempting to find who exactly the Moonlight was talking about, but there was far too much activity around them to catch a glimpse of this “girl that looked like her”. She had an idea who Korinath might be talking about, but she would find out either way a little later. For now there was the matter of feeding the hungry hatchling before she convinced herself that she was going to wither and die before the woman’s very eyes or more likely her head spun right off from looking this way and that, trying to listen to all of the conversations going on around them.

”Look at me, Korinath.” The woman waited until her dragonet complied then lowered the bowl to the ground and held up a staying hand even as she took a precautionary step back. ”I know you are hungry but you will eat slowly. And please, do try not to make a mess. Blood is rather hard to get out of frabric.”

Korinath stared at Korvalia for a moment then looked down at the bowl of food and lurched forward only to hesitate once more and glance up at her rider once more. Looking back down at the meat she lowered her head and seemed to intend to eat slowly but the second her tongue touched the still warm meat, her hunger overwhelmed her and she ravenously attacked the bowl, spattering bloody juices everywhere, including all down the front of Korvalia’s robes, only the small portion covered by the apron being safe from damage. Hissing, the young woman took several steps back and narrowed her eyes. For all the plans she’d come up with she’d never seemed to account for the dragonet not listening to her or obeying her.

[Ghost of Fire (Fëanáro)]

T'vax froze. His eyes, pale blue, meeting Dav's brown ones, were wide. Why? Why shardit? Why didn't I mention this stupid thing earlier?

"Um... I can... hear... and talk to, I guess, dragons. All dragons. I've been hiding behind... well, it's kind of a 'shield', for the whole Hatching. I.. um... peaked around it when I asked Niekolgoth his name."

T'vax finished with his head hanging, his eyes fixed on his knees. "I guess, it, um, startled him?"

Contact. On his shoulder. Light, but tapping.

Tamaruk spun around, his eyes already starting to widen when... "Nickta!" he exclaimed. A moment later, the sense of her words penetrated. Introductions... Oh yeah, he knew how to do that! Or, at least, he'd had to practice it.

He stood up. In the back of his mind, he could hear Gillian, reminding him to always start an introduction with the highest ranking party, or failing knowledge, introduce the women first.

"Nickta of Gold-Silver Liakyrith, this is Kyuuki of Trumpeter Swan Vallesh, Ayasha Narunok, and Rallin of Black Rallisk." He would have continued with the introduction, reversing its direction, when Guyaky and Atanek started flying around in circles, looping his head and chirping, obviously excited.

Tamaruk looked from one flitt to the other, completely confused. He was about to say something when he heard a different voice.

T'ruk! Mine please, can you help get me food? I'm hungry. Oh, but my name is Azeriuth, not hungry. That would be a silly name.

Tamaruk, no wait, T'ruk, his name was T'ruk now, he... he'd just Impressed! All thoughts flew away, leaving only the sudden desire to get to Azeriuth. Only, all of the people where between him and...

"Tamaruk, what's going on?" Rallin asked. His mellow voice acted like a ground, snapping Tamaruk back into reality.

"It's Azeriuth, he, he Impressed to me, only..." Ta- T'ruk's voice broke off. Surely there was no way he was going down there, but, he had to go down there!

"Go on," Rallin said. "They'll let you through."

T'ruk looked back at him, then started weaving forward, only to reach the Sands and race towards Azeriuth. Azeriuth, as soon as T'ruk was clear of the crowds, raced towards him at the same time, so that they met a few feet away from the start of the stands. They stayed there for a second, then Azeriuth looked over towards the meat.

Food? he prompted.

"Of course," T'ruk replied, as together they walked across the Sands. Upon obtaining a bowl of meat, T'ruk occupied himself in feeding Azeriuth, who occupied himself in chewing.

T'ruk caught sight of Era, but he didn't signal her. He wanted to, wanted to share this moment with his friend, but he didn't want to distract her from her own dragonet.

[Cait]

Dav blinked as Tiv looked up at her, his pale blue eyes wide and a faint crease appeared between her brows. Suddenly uneasy, partially because of Niekolgoth’s discomfort, she caught her lower lip between her teeth. Why did she feel like he was about to drop a boulder on her head?

Not a boulder, Mine. But it is…confusing.[/b]

When Tiv finally spoke Dav’s own eyes went wide as she stared at him incredulously. He could hear and speak to all dragons? Of course she’d heard stories about that—everyone had—but she’d never really thought that the ability truly existed. But then, Tiv had no reason to lie to her, not to mention the Purple-Gray’s reaction.

Dav’s mouth hung open for several seconds before she snapped it shut. She was silent for several long seconds before a grin flashed across her features. This was by far the most amazing thing she’d ever encountered next to Impression. ”That’s wonderful! So, is this some sort of secret? Cause I can keep a secret, promise.”

[Nicole]

Nickta had been about to greet the others when Tamaruk's head snapped to the side. From her angle, she could see the distant look in his eyes, the glazed-over appearance that Riders got when their dragons demanded their attention.

Is that pride I sense?
He didn't think he could do it, and he wasn't even on the grounds. Nickta grinned, even though he couldn't see it, as Rallin urged the boy down to his dragon. I have to say that I'm proud of him.
He has not done anything.
He didn't say that his dragon made a mistake or deny that he should be a Rider. He accepted it. That is enough for me to be proud of him.

Liakyrith rumbled her approval.

[Lark]

My Brother has impressed it seems.

Why do you call him your brother Sayu? He's not really related to you.

The young Silverlight ignored the comment, instead skirting around the newly impressed chrome and the boy that had helped them escape, venturing onto the sands and not particularly caring what anyone thought of it. Dipping her head to the Dark-bred dragon, she gazed at him silently, taking in all she could to understand his choice of partner. Yours.....take care of him. Gently the words were whispered against the hatchling's mind, her tail flicking from one side of her body to the other as she tilted her head subtly before walking away. Come A'mir, we have a Silverlight to greet.

Continuing, the dragonet nudged a pink up onto her feet who had stumbled, Tasth crooning wide-eyed as she looked at the black and silver creature who had helped her. I think your songs would be better sung over there Little Sister. Go now. The dragonet blinked a few times, stumbling backward slightly as she hurried along to Xiana's side, the harper watching the Silverlight and her rider with a narrowed glance. A'mir knew the apprentice, unfortunately. Looking away guiltily, the weyrling followed his dragonet as the Silverlight finally made her way to where the male of her color had met His.

Brother. It is good to see you. Congratulations on finding Yours....this is A'mirMine. I wish to come with you to the food. Tell me, are you feeling well now that you have found your rider? A'mir rubbed his head nervously as he listened to his lifemate speak to the hatchling, his eyes sliding over to the newly impressed rider. "Well, congrats on him....I'm A'mir. Seems like she wants to get to know him. Makes sense, she's kinda lonely. Do you want some help getting things?" To Sayurith he sent a quiet little message of, sweetheart, shouldn't we be letting them deal with their new bond and stuff? We're kind of intruding here. The dragonet simply hissed slightly in irritation at her rider's thoughts, her tail twitching as she shifted her gaze to him, red and orange tinging the facets.

I go because I must protect him. I refuse to let anything bad happen to him and His as it did to you and I. I will not fail him...not like they did us.

[Ghost of Fire (Fëanáro)]

T’vax rocked back when Dav replied with enthusiasm. He was startled by the enthusiastic nature of the response. After all, the only thing he’d ever found to be enthusiastic about with the ability was the one time that he’d gotten a bored dragon to help him with his chores, and the Candidate Master had fast acted to decrease that enthusiasm.

“It’s...” T’vax took a deep breath and began again. “It’s kind of a secret,” he replied, not, quite, whispering. He was out of his element, for, outside of the Candidate Master and the party that had rescued A’mir, he hadn’t told anyone about this strange ability. It was hard enough getting along with people, without them being able to blame you every time their dragon was having a bad day, even though you had nothing to do with it. “I’d appreciate it if you didn’t mention it.”

T’vax fell silent then, startled by the approaching shapes. A’mir and Sayurith, the Weyrling pair that his father had captured, were on an oblique angle of approach, one that would enable them to skirt him, Dav, Slinesteth, and Niekolgoth. He had to admit, he’d been avoiding them since coming to the Weyr. He felt guilty about not having been able to help them more, and well, that made for awkward encounters, to say the least.

Slinesteth was disappointed by the voice, he’d been hoping that the older weyrling would simply keep going without noticing him, but what did she mean, saying that he should take care of His? Of course he was going to take care of His; what other point was there to planning? He decided to ask her, but she was gone before he could do so… it was strange, he’d gotten the feeling that she knew His somehow. Confused, Slinesteth looked at T’vax, but T’vax had no clarification to offer, the words meant nothing special to him, beyond their ordinary meanings.

T’ruk had returned all of his attention to feeding Azeriuth, who was eating the food one piece at a time, tossing his head back to swallow each piece with a jerking motion. He didn’t notice the approach of A’mir and Sayurith, because it had been a rather depleted bowl of meat that he had grabbed, so it was empty already. In fact, they had been just turning to get another when the older Weyrling pair seemed to appear in front of them. T’ruk stepped back and lowered his head, startled, but Azeriuth stepped forward.

I am feeling much better, thank you for asking, sister. The older Silverlight was friendly, and so too seemed her rider. They could be good friends; he wanted to know them better. His wasn’t completely comfortable though, which seemed odd to the Azeriuth; the older Weyrling pair was good, friendly, they meant no harm.

T’rukMine, they wish to be friends, Azeriuth explained. You should say thanks and hello, they will be glad to talk.

Had T’ruk been consciously analyzing his deep thoughts and reactions, he would have discovered that it was amazing how much two dissimilar voices resembled each other when the advice given was similar. He wasn’t doing that though, and so he didn’t reflect on how much Azeriuth’s voice seemed to sound like those of Rallin, Gillian, and Nickta.

“Thank you A’mir,” T’ruk smiled shyly, “I’m Ta… T’ruk,” T’ruk flushed a little at his stumble over his name, but gamely continued. “Given the amount Azeriuth wants to eat, I’d really appreciate your help carrying some of the meat.” He was rather proud of himself for the last, it was a very long sentence of voluntary speaking. The adults were right, this did get easier with practice.

[Cait]

Just as she has suspected it might be, T’vax confirmed that his ability was to remain a secret and Dav gave a solemn nod. She might be a bit chatty but if she was anything it was loyal and she’d already latched on to Tiv like a clingy firelizard, intent on keeping him as a friend. Now that he’d shared a secret—and a big one at that—with her, she was convinced that they shared a bond. A bond that she was protect fiercely if need be. Just as she would protect those who might harass the lad over something he could hardly control.

”You couldn’t torture it out of me.” For once the girl’s expression was dead serious; there was no glimmer of laughter in her dark eyes or faint curl to her lips. This was serious business and when it came to those she had claimed as her own—and T’vax was well and truly claimed by now—she didn’t mess around. In all other ways she might not seem the product of a harsh Northern life, but in this one way she was just as serious and fierce as any Northerner. And with that she completely dropped the subject, drawing little circles with her fingertip between Niekolgoth’s eyes.

The Purple-Gray slowly seemed to settle once the topic was put aside and he let out a glorious belch, watching Slinesteth with one eye partially squinted as the Chrome regarded the approach of the Silverlight—which Niekolgoth regarded with forlorn confusion—what was he supposed to think of this friend of his Davquil with his special powers? And the boy’s dragon…Slinesteth wasn’t shy as Dav though…he was up to something. But with so many things to try and process, it was making him more and more lethargic; especially without Dav’s flabouyant energy to bolster him against his depression. "Who was that? It was one of the Silverlights, wasn't it?"

T’vax smiled. The tension that had crept into his posture since Niekolgoth’s reaction slowly eased out of it again. Dav wouldn’t tell, she’d meant what she said. With that realization, the last of the tension slipped away, chased out by relief. Dav wasn’t mad that he’d bypassed her and spoken to her dragon, though he wasn’t going to push his luck and try it again, not unless he had to.

“Yeah,” T’vax responded. “A’mir and Silverlight Sayurith.” He didn’t mention that the first time he’d seen them had been when they were being dragged into cells by his father’s cronies. Then again, he didn’t really have to, his tension and unwillingness to meet their eyes was a fair indication that there were things he didn’t want to think about which revolved around them. Despite that, he felt his gaze drawn after them, watching as they approached the newly Impressed Silverlight pair.

I do not think they hold it against you, Mine. Slinesteth was taking a break from his planning, and watching as the Silverlight and her rider stopped to greet his Silverlight brother. He was tired, but he felt that he had to watch, had to observe, because then he could plan better. He looked over the his Purple-Grey brother, trying to decide how best to say what he wanted to say.

Brother, perhaps we should leave together soon, that way Ours get plenty of rest for tomorrow, he suggested.

[Cait]

Noticing the ease in tension in T'vax's posture, Dav herself seemed to relax a bit--not that she had been overly tense before--and took a moment to look around at the others who had Impressed. They would all be in class together and she couldn't wait to meet every last one of them. For a moment she wondered if T'vax would talk to all of their dragons but then decided that if he was so uncomfortable about his ability that he likely wouldn't.

"Oh. You'll have to introduce me later or something." She suggested with a smile as she absently dug her sandal-clad toes into the sand and wiggled them about, drawing the attention of Niekolgoth who start at the girl's feet as though they were some strange, alien creature. Noticing his interest, Dav dug her toes deeper then wiggled them again, laughing when the Purple-Grey shoved his nose into the sand after her toes and snorted, sending sand flying.
This prccoess was repeated until Niekolgoth had excavated her toes and looked up at her, one eye squinted.

"Dear, silly creature. What did I ever do without you?"

You lost your toes in the sand?

Davquil laughed and bent over to hug the dragonet's head tightly to her chest, causing him to rumble happily in the back of his throat, the tip of his tail twitching in the sand as he seemed to perk up a bit. Shoving up to his feet, though he didn't pull his head away from Dav, he shifted his gaze--peering from between the girls arms--to his Chrome brother and flexed his talons in the sand.

Yes, sleep would be good. I know I am sleepy and even though she does not seem like it, Mine is a little sleepy as well. She is always so happy and it seems like a lot of work.

[Ghost of Fire (Fëanáro)]

Tivax laughed then, watching Niekolgoth dig after Dav’s toes with his nose. He reached down absently to rub Slinesteth’s eyeridges as the dragonet nosed him. The contact brought up elation all over again, racing through him like he had just won a combat round. He was a dragonrider!

Slinesteth pressed his body against T’vax, curling around him as though giving the young man a hug. He regarded His for a second, then turned his attention to his Purple-Grey brother, just in time to hear his brother’s agreement that they should convince they’re new riders to get some rest. Good, he’d thought his brother would agree.

T’vaxMine, it would be a good idea to sleep. Surely they will expect a lot from us tomorrow.

“Slinesteth has just opinioned that we should get some sleep,” T’vax commented. “Are you receiving similar requests from Niekolgoth?”

[Terayne]

Diamond was silent as she watched the Hatching, bouncing on the balls of her feet excitedly. As the Hatchlings drew closer, her eyes sparkled with even more of that invasive emotion. She was almost dancing by this point, her eyes sparkling. She wasn't expecting to Impress, there was truly no desire within her to do so. Her only desire had been to Stand on these Sands, to experience the emotions her siblings had felt. So when the Cloud halted before her, she blinked, cocking her head.

Hello DiamondMine! Shall we go now? The sand is nice and all but Xinalinth would like to go and have some fun!

The voice invaded her thoughts, the playfulness and hunger her emotions, but instead of the ecstasy her fellows had shown upon their Impressions, she only showed confusion and disbelief. "You've made a mistake little one," she murmured. "I'm no rider. I only wished to Stand." Shaking her head, she turned away from the stunned little Cloud, who creeled piteously.

But.... But... Mine.... she whimpered, only to be ignored as Diamond began to walk out. The sound of wings approaching stopped her though, as she could go no farther due to the massive, rainbow-hued form now standing before her, her rider glaring down at her younger sister. Above the Queenpair, T'paz and his Blue watched intently.

"What are you doing! Alaseareth tells me you've Impressed, and yet you walk AWAY from your Bonded! You fool!" Infuriated by her sister's seeming callousness, Ruby leapt down and backhanded her cheek, knocking her to the hot sand. She then glared at her so fiercely that Diamond cringed, feeling a small form cuddle against her back as Xinalinth came up, feeling her let her in now she'd been forcibly reminded by a seasoned rider(who also happened to be her elder sibling) that it was death for the dragonet if she refused to accept her. And how could she do that....

Xinalinth was her other half. That which she had unknowingly sought for so long...

Tears slipped from her eyes as she turned, curling the Cloud close to her in a fierce hug, not feeling the heat from the Sands. She also didn't see the satisfied nod her sister gave, crossing her arms across her chest and leaning back against her Rainbow, although she did vaguely hear the Queen croon a greeting to the newest member of their "family."

Xinalinth chirred back at her, and to Oquiteth, perched above her, as well, who had lowered his great head. His Mine was smiling as he watched his baby sister give in to the joy of the Bond, his blue eyes(for which he'd been named) gleaming with joy. He knew the love, the pure, unfettered joy, of being a rider, and was thrilled that now two of his sisters knew it as well.

Mine... Food please?

Chuckling, Diamond nodded and rose, looking at her sister and raising a brow. Ruby inclined her head, now smiling, her brilliant red mane glowing as she leapt back to her Bonded one's shoulders and the Rainbow removed herself from the way, so that the new Cloudweyrling and Her's could go get Xinalinth some food.

Dav was having much the same experience with Niekolgoth. Every time she would settle down she would catch a glimpse of the strange little dragon and a tiny squeal would erupt from her lips as the excitement of Impression washed over her again. And true to the Purple-Grey’s words to his brother, it was a bit tiring to be in a state of constant glee; not to mention that Nirkolgoth’s increasing drowsiness was weighing on the girl.

DavMine, we are getting sleepy. Are we going to sleep on the sands?[/b][/color]

Davquil blinked and released the dragonet’s head from her arms and looked at him as his tail skipped across the sands as though refusing to remain still despite the apparent weariness in the dragon’s voice. Turning her head, she opened her mouth to suggest that perhaps they seek out their new rooms when T’vax beat her to the punch. Apparently Slinesteth was sending similar messages. Raising a brow, she glanced at the Chrome and then at Niekolgoth and wondered for a moment if they hadn’t been plotting, then shrugged it off. Of course they hadn’t; baby dragons got sleepy, and so did their brand new riders. It was only natural. ”I am, and they sound quite appealing to me. Do you suppose they have our rooms ready? I can’t imagine they would have known who would Impress today. At the very least I hope they have a bed ready.”

T’vax thought for a second. “They must have at least started to get things ready,” he replied. “They did have know about how many Impressions would be made. Besides, they probably wanted to be over-prepared, so they likely have at least some of the rooms ready.” He actually wasn’t as certain as his musing sounded, but his thought process made sense to himself, so he didn’t think it was likely to be wholly false.

Another idea occurred to T’vax and he grinned. “Besides, we could always nap in the communal…” his voice trailed off as a possible problem presented itself. “Do the Weyrlings have a communal area?” he asked. He couldn’t recall if the subject had come up during the Candidate lessons. He didn’t think it had, but then, he’d spent a great deal of the later Candidate lessons trying his hand at drawing dragons and then showing the pictures to Dav and a couple of the other friendly Candidates.

We should find out where are room is relative to the rest, especially relative to Niekolgoth and Davquil

T’vax smoothly stood up, stretching as he did so. It was amazing how stiff one could get after just a few moments of being folded up in relatively constant position.

“Hand up?” he asked, offering Dav his hand.

Nodding, Davquil found that much of what T'vax said made a great deal of sense. It wasn't like this was the first Hatching anyone had ever encountered, after all. They had to at least be partially prepared for the new Weyrlings and the likelihood that every last one of them would eventually pass out from exhaustion. Between the adrenaline that surged during hatchings, the elation of Impression and the hatchling's exhaustion it was only common sense that the new bondpairs would need a place to crash. "Yes, I suppose this isn't the first time they've done something like this either. And if they don't enough rooms ready, I'm sure doubling up for a night wouldn't be a problem."

Then there was Tiv's back up plan. It reminded her that she still had quite a bit of planning to do now, especially since young dragonets had to be factored into the festivities. Dark eyes darted around the sands, making a mental count of the number of people, and dragonets she would have to accommodate for until finally she gave up and decided that if she had enough food for at least fifty people, it should last a few hours...then again, maybe she should see if she could get some of the candidates that were friendly with the kitchen staff to bump that estimate up to one hundred.

Distracted by her sudden realization that she had six days until Tiv's turnday, she was startled when she found his hand in front of her face and stared at it for a long moment before chuckling at herself and grabbing hold, using him to lever herself up and brush off the sand that stuck to her robes and legs. Once up she hooked arms with her friend at the elbow and wiggled her fingers at Niekolgoth, still rather amused when he pushed himself up and waddled over to her side like a puppy. "I'm glad D'vill talked me into Standing as a Candidate."

I am glad you were convinced as well, DavMine. I would not have wanted to stay here otherwise. It was too...much.[/b]
