Appearance:
She stands at a meager five foot one, and can easily be lost in a crowd of people. Her short stature is only emphasized by her slight build, and she seems to LACK musculature, but if one looks closely, they will discover this is an illusion, for the girl is really quite strong, and well-toned. Laughing green eyes stare out at the world, sharp, and intelligent, and her hair is a lovely shade of golden brown, not quite COMPLETELY brown, but almost, and hangs only to her shoulders, recently trimmed down by her mother to make her more "presentable" supposedly. She favors bright colors, richs purples, silvers, blues and greens, and has a gold necklace her father made for her when she was sixteen, a beautiful piece of work, a Golden Fire-Lizard with aquamarines for its eyes.
Personality:
Diamond is a playful, fun-loving young woman, who finds it difficult to take the world seriously. This irritated her older sister Ruby, a Queenrider when she Impressed, to no end, but endeared Diamond to the rest of the mining Hall in which the large family lived. She loves her twin brother, Onyx, but is not bothered by having been removed from him to Stand as a Candidate. On the contrary, she bounces whenever a Hatching, ANY Hatching, is mentioned! Her love for life is almost boundless, and she has a way of seeing the bright side of most things, though there ARE certain things even she can't overlook. One of these triggered a seemingly irrational fear of men in her, making her nervous and highly uneasy when there are too many of them around, but she refuses to tell anyone what this might be, instead trying to turn the conversation away from it. Even her own family doesn't know. Other than this secret, she is outgoing, loving to make friends. When she HAS to be, she can be a leader, but this is not, as she puts it, her job in the family. She is the prankster, keeping those who she deems lean towards too serious from being so when she's around.
History:
She is the fourth child of her Miner family, the third eldest girl-child, twin to the second oldest male of the eight children. When she and her brother were born, there was an argument going on between her mother's family and her father's, but the arrival of the twins silenced it, the argument having been about the two of them, thought to be only one VERY large child. Her mother's family had wanted her mother to abort, thinking her in danger of death from birthing such a massive child, her father's was against it. They were welcomed with love and devotion nonetheless, and raised to be the kind of people that others wanted to be around, though Onyx was far more serious and introspective than his sister, who found great amusement in taunting and teasing him.
When she was three she experienced her first Hatching. Her sister, Ruby, was Searched to Stand for the clutch of Sky Mountain, and Diamond was taken a long to see the event. She was utterly fascinated, and uttered her long standing promise. "One day, that'll be me. I'll be on the Sands one day!" Her sister Impressed her beautiful Rainbow, and less than three Turns later, her brother Topaz Impressed to his Blue, becoming T'paz.
At the age of five, the twins were separated for the first time, Onyx being removed to their mother's family's Hold, Fair Ice, for awhile. Diamond wasn't sure what to do with herself, so went exploring-never getting out of earshot of the mining camp, of course- and came back with some little trinkets she had picked up, being a curious and adventurous child. Those trinkets turned out to be quite valuable, containing gold, silver and pure gemstones of the highest quality. When asked exactly where she got them, she refused to say, despite the most insistent coaxing, and finally her mother laughed and told her Inquisitors to stop. They wouldn't get it out of her, for she guarded her secrets closely even then.
At twelve, SHE was removed to her mother's family's Hold, and found joy in being around the Harper who lived there, as well as the herdbeasts and sled canines. However, while there she also experienced the darkest part of her life, which she keeps secret to this day, revealing it not even to her twin, who she tells everything. Still being young and easily influenced, this time burned itself into her mind, forging a deep rooted terror of being around too many men at the same time, though she's managed to somewhat overcome this since going back to the Mining Hall, a lot of miners being men.
When she was sixteen, she found a Fire-Lizard egg hidden away in a large cave and took it home, determined to Hatch it and Impress its contents. Unfortunately, she was never able to get it to hatch, despite her best efforts, and she finally discarded it, with many tears, taking it back to the cave in which she found it. Her father made her the necklace she wears to cheer her up, and eventually, she did, though she never again went hunting for Flitt eggs, never sure if they were duds and not wanting to feel that heartache again.
Now, at eighteen, she wants so badly to fulfill her vow made to herself at the tender age of three, and actually traveled to Ice Stone usinf some of the mining camps sled canines-having been taught how to while at Fair Ice- when she heard about the pending hatching, hoping that she would be allowed to Stand. She was, and, after a bit of hedging and a painful reminder by her sister about the consequences, she Impressed to her beautiful little Cloud, Xinalinth.
Adoption?: NO
Dragon Information
Name: Xinalinth
Pronounciation: Shi -nah -lin -th
Gender: Female
Color: Cloud
Parentage: Ice Temperanth and Crimson Varketh
Appearance: As all of her hue, she is a rich blue, interspersed with the white splotches for which her hue is named. Being only a Weyrling, and a young one at that, she is still very small, although still large enough to bowl over her not so big rider if she tackles her fiercely enough. Her wings are slightly longer, but she has been assured she will grow into them by her Mine, so she doesn't worry too much about it. As an adult, she promises to be sleek and agile, a graceful and beautiful creature no matter how one looks at it, with a tapered tail and well-shaped wings. Her adult length will be around 25 feet.
Personality: This cloud dragoness loves to play. However, she isn't content to sit around and play quietly or just with her rider. She needs other dragons to play with, and friends to joke with. She will organize races, build snow forts, and generally run around the entire Weyr in her quest for fun. She calls people who bar her from this spoilsports, but she can't really hold grudges. After all, give people a while to warm up and of course they will want to play, right?
