Appearance: Standing at five feet and seven inches, Saddyris is perhaps a bit more curvy that she’d prefer though her legs are long and lean from turns of running back and forth between the carvan and the advance scouts on foot—her personal Runner being one of the beasts that pulled the wagon she shared with her mother and father—and otherwise jaunting about in the wilderness. Possessing a tanned complexion, as one might expect from a girl of the nomad-like clans of the southern continent, Saddyris also possesses thick black hair that is grown out in the tradition of her people and when left down and combed out could easily be sat upon.
Her face oval in shape sports a light brow above keen, kohl-lined green eyes between which sprouts a small, feminine nose. Her lips are full and in her opinion, obnoxiously pouty though now that she’s reached the cusp of womanhood, the men seem to find her features pleasing enough for all that she shows no active interest in any of them. As most of the children in her clan do when reaching the age of majority—sixteen—she has received the mark of her clan in the form of a tattoo on the inside of her right wrist. It is a simple version of a wagonwheel and a symbol that is common to several migrating clans though some use differing colors. The Vrishna clan’s is red and sports sixteen spokes.
Being a scout and otherwise highly active, it is unrealistic for Saddyris to wear layered skirts and gowns like her sisters do and so she wears a modified version of the outfit much of the time. With a base of hide breeches and a loose, often pale colored tunic with vibrant embroidery around the cuffs and collar, Saddyris will usually wear dyed or woven scarves around her waist or hair depending on her current task, and a cloth vest over her tunic in the winter. Though she dresses to be practical, she also likes pretty things. During festivals or clan gatherings, Saddyris will dress up in the layered skirts that their women are known for.

Personality: As with most children of the Vrishna clan, Saddyris is free-spirited and yet entirely grounded in reality. She isn’t prone to flights of fancy and yet she can fully enjoy getting lost in the wilderness for days at a time. She is lost with the constant thrum of life around her and yet she craves solitude every now and then. In short she is full of contrasts within herself and yet they all seem to balance out in the end.
While she is very good with the children of the Caravan, Saddyris has no inclination to settle down and have any of her own. And while she does enjoy spending time with young men and engaging in rather chaste activities—compared to what she could be doing at her age—she similarly has no intent on choosing one and settling down.
Though having found a niche in the Caravan, she is not entirely content with clan life, though it is all she knows, and while good at what she does, feels she could be doing more. As of yet she has no idea what it is she wants to do with her life and at times it makes her feel trapped, especially in the winter months. When she gets to feeling like that, she tends to get a bit snippy and will often wander off on her own for days at a time. Content but not entirely happy with her life, she isn’t sure how to escape from clan life, or even if she wants to. Hers is a clan-heart but her mind and spirit crave more.
History: To look at the history of Saddyrs Oneri is to look at the history of her entire family. The Vrishna Dragonridge Caravan has been in existence for several generations; long before WWI took place in fact. For the most part it seems to be a patriarchal family unit with one exception; daughters are given the choice of whether or not they wish to join their husband’s family when they marry. It is uncommon for a Vrishna woman to do this. Another difference is that—especially in more recent times—the young woman of the caravan are given the option of whom they wish to marry and when, be it another caravaner met at the mid-turn gathering or in the case of Saddyrs’ aunt Dyrana, a Journeyman Weaver she feel in love with over the Summer shearing festival at Dragonridge. It is uncommon, however for an outside man to join the caravan as was the case with Hanslo Denmarrik; of course, on the other side, it isn’t entirely uncommon for a caravan woman to leave the caravan should she decide to marry outside “the clan order”.
Despite these seeming liberties, it is still the men that run the caravan, and in Saddyris’ case it is her grandfather that is the leader of their prosperous family unit—twenty adults and nine children including Saddyris herself as well as a sizable herd of sheep. Saddyr Vrishna, the man after which Saddyris was named, has been Leader of the Vrishna Dragonridge Caravan for nearly three decades, having taken over the Caravan from his father. His father before him was the one to establish a working relationship with the Weaver Crafthall and under Saddyr's leadership, relations with the holds of Dragonridge and Cliffside Sea have been both friendly and beneficial to the Caravan. In the past decade or so, it has been Saddyr and his son Dyrmar who have developed at cordial relationship with Rainbow Mists Weyr.
Of Saddyr’s four children, Dyrmar is the eldest and the only son. Next is Pryana, then Myrna and lastly Dyrana. Surprisingly enough, or perhaps not quite so surprising is the fact that all three of the sister’s husbands chose to join the Vrishna Caravan rather than convince their wives to join their own. Though, of the three, only one was part of a substantial Caravan. Pryana, who married to Amaris Oneri of the Vittori Stormy Plains Caravan, had three daughters—Amarna, Marisry and Saddyris—the first two who readily married and the last who so far has shown no interest in the prospect of marriage, preferring to help her father with the Draft runners and canines. There is a fourth child, though not naturally born to the couple, who was adopted at the age of six when he attempted to steal from the hearth fire shortly after the Shearing Festival near Melisong Hold. Mobrey Songborn, a young orphan was taken into the Carvan, as was not entirely uncommon for the Vrishna Dragonridge clan.
Growing up, Saddyris was never alone and was closest with her cousins born of the same year; Dyrall and Myro. Together they would explore, often wandering away from the older women who had been put in charge of keeping an eye on the young of the clan. More than once they found themselves in trouble and had to be rescued by Vannec—Dylallie’s husband—or Saddyris’ own brother-in-law, Gregoryk. In all, growing up was filled with love, discipline and learning; learning of all things. Songs, cooking, herbs, healing, nature, tracking, weapons, wagon repairs, hunting, skinning, tanning. It was tracking, nature and the training of animals that she found her calling and though her father was reluctant to allow it, Saddyris became a Caravan scout along with her cousins and together the three of them scout ahead of the group, looking for any obstacles or dangers in the path ahead to be avoided.
Also because she is the fleetest of the three on foot, she is more often than not the one chosen to run back and forth between the scouting party and the caravan, or even between the holds and camp during the summer and winter months that are spent near cultivated lands. Because of this, Saddyris has met several very interesting people that she otherwise might not have met. Living amongst the clan has taught her much but has kept her from the world as she is slowly beginning to realize.
