"Where are we going?" The flat and unenthusiastic question came from Cr'wean, who was currently being dragged around by Cyanee.
"To the Candidate Master Assistant." The olive hand was wrapped around the rider's hand like a vice, refusing to let go.
"Riiiight, but why?" Cyanee had abruptly asked him if he was free and started to drag him around, so he was in the dark here.
"Because I said I would."
"Huh?"
"Just come on." The Lifewing rider sighed, but let himself be dragged from his room, across the Bowl and eventually toward the candidate barracks. Cyan knew where the offices were, which was where she was presuming the Woodrider was. She dutifully dragged her brother to the front of the office and then let him go as she poked her head inside, looking for Ylara. "Do you have some time for an introduction?" Cr'wean looked down at his sister's head and raised an eyebrow. This whole thing was highly suspicious. What on earth was this about?
She was doing her paperwork, although she kept getting distracted by her Wood, who was, oddly enough for her, flirting quite heavily with one of the Blues. Who he was, or even who his RIDER was, the woman didn't know, but she was trying her best to ignore it. So when Cyan's head popped around the doorway, she latched onto the excuse for a distraction gratefully.
"An intro- OH!" Hazel eyes lit up as she realized where the girl was going with her words, and she smiled warmly at the Candidate. "Of course I do. Bring him right in." She encouraged the girl with a wave of her hand, motioning to the chairs before her desk, brought in by one of the male drudges so she had a place to sit and do her work without bothering her superior.
She recalled Cyanee's promise to introduce her to her Lifewingrider brother, and she had been looking forward to the day when the Candidate kept that promise. She hadn't imagined it would be on ne of Orylth's quirky days, but hey.
Cyan's face broke into a smile and she grabbed her brother again and pulled him into the office. Cr'wean, after being dragged, stood up straight and looked up at this person he had been dragged to see. He wasn't sure what he expected to see, but the small, warm looking Woodrider was not it. However for once in his like he was coming off more confused then anything else, rather then grumpy at not understanding. Cyan hardly noticed, she simply released him and took a step forward to introduce him.
"This is my brother, Cr'wean. He is linked to Kiyosh." Cyanee obviously liked Kiyosh, it was displayed all over her face. Still, she shifted quickly, facing her brother. "And this is Ylara of wood Orylth. She's the Candidate Mistress' Assistant. She's helped me out a bunch since I came here." Cr'wean looked at the Woodrider a little differently then, looking less confused and more appreciative. So he walked up to her and held out his hand.
"It is nice to meet you. Thank you for taking care of my sister."
She cocked her head slightly as he came in, causing her hair in its triple braid to fall across one shoulder. On the desk, her still small fire-lizard sat up, having been napping behind a pile of papers until she'd heard the voices, and cheeped a hello, shifting to launch herself off the desk and hover awkwardly before the Lifewingrider, causing her Mine to chuckle softly and gently pluck her from the air.
Having settled Chantelaube on her shoulder, she took the offered hand, smiling. "It was my pleasure," she said lightly. "And it's a pleasure to meet you as well, Cr'wean. Your sister talks a lot about you and Kiyosh." Her gaze flicked to the Candidate, then back to him. "How long have you been a Lifewingrider?"
Cyan and Cr'wean watched as the small flitt made her presence known. Cyan's face lit up with wonder, looking at the dual colored flitter. Oh she was lovely. Cr'wean looked at the flitter quietly, just observing the pet. His gaze shifted back to the Dragonrider though, as she was the one he was speaking with. Cr'wean got a little smirk on his face when Ylara mentioned Cyan talking about Kiyosh. Yeah, that happened. Alot. He gave a side glance to his sister who merely smiled more. Ah well. When she asked about himself he paused a little to think about it, he hadn't been expecting a question and answer session.
"Kiyosh hatched going on five turns ago, so I guess it's been under three that I hit full rider." That sounded like the answer to the question she was asking anyway. He observed the woman quietly, avoiding asking the same of her. He wasn't sure how old she was, so he wasn't going anywhere near the subject of time. He wasn't good with being social anyway. A quick poke was given by Cyan into his arm and he looked down at her with a touch of a frown. She pointed back the way they had come, looking way too happy for the gesture to mean that they should go. Oh, that meant-
"Would you like to met Kiyosh?" Cr'wean gave the Lifewing a silent notice to get to the Bowl, which she obliged easily. Even if she didn't want an introduction, Cyan would love to see Kiyosh after this.
The Candidate Mistress' Assistant smiled and inclined her head. "Only about half then," she murmured softly, touching gently to her Wood, who mentally nuzzled her, then went back to her flirting. She'd been Impressed for most of her life, all of her adult life and at least half of her teenage Turns.
"Kiyosh is female, if I recall correctly," she said quietly. When asked if she wanted to meet her, her eyes seemed to light even further, and she nodded. "I would."
Cr'wean nodded in response. Yep, Kiyosh was female, but usually she didn't mind if someone accidently assumed she was male. She wasn't exactly a fussy Lifewing. Good for him he supposed. When she responded in the affirmative he stepped back and motioned for the door with a quiet, "Ladies first." Cyan just about bounced out of the door, which he sighed a little bit at. Ah well, at least she would promptly lead Ylara to Kiyosh.
Cyanee made a beeline to Kiyosh, who was waiting for them outside. The girl rushed forward to hug the Lifewing, who took the hug with no small amount of pleasure. Kiyosh loved small and cute things, and that happened to include some humans, Cyanee being one. How are you doing my little candidate?
"Oh I'm just fine. I've brought someone to meet you!"
Is that so? I hope you have been getting Cr'wean to behave himself.
Cyan didn't respond with words, merely giving a large smile to the Lifewing. Kiyosh took that to mean that he was doing better then expected.
The Woodrider chuckled as she watched the girl bounce out, used to the playful behavior she tended to display. She quietly padded out the door in front of the Lifewingrider, following the sound of the girl's footfalls, then her herself as they got outside and she could see her again.
The beautiful Lifewing was impossible to miss, and she cocked her head slightly as she moved towards her, stopping a respectful distance away. She didn't wish to upset the lovely creature, after all.
Orylth's attention diverted from the Blue, and she turned away from him without even an apology, spreading her wings and soaring up to land on a ledge overlooking the meeting, her red-brown, light swirled hide gleaming with health. Who was this that her Mine was meeting?
Cr'wean followed the Dragonrider out to where Kiyosh was waiting, chatting with his sister. Ylara seemed to be appreciating the Lifewing from a distance, not that he quite understood that. He shrugged it off and walked up next to her and crossed his arms. Kiyosh peered at Cr'wean doing this, in a way that told Cr'wean she was amused. Cyan bounced in between her brother and his Lifewing partner and looked at him hopefully. Cr'wean sighed and gestured for her to proceed. Cyanee gave a little bounce and motioned to Ylara.
"Kiyosh, this is Ylara of Wood Orylth. You remember me talking about her."
That I do. It is very nice to meet you.
"And this is Kiyosh she is a.." Cyanee looked like she was trying to remember something before continuing. "Griffon Vulture Lifewing." Cyan didn't really know what that meant, only that Kiyosh said that was what she was, therefore it was. To the candidate it meant that Kiyosh had sharp claws and beak, while also being really good at gliding. Kiyosh looked pleased at the candidate remembering. Kiyosh turned her gaze to the dragonrider, looking her over. The woman was small, but she wouldn't call her cute exactly, since she was more dignified and motherly to be called that. So Kiyosh decided she liked her.
I hear you are responsible for helping out with the candidates. How are they treating you?
She smiled and sketched a bow, hazel eyes gleaming with pleasure. "It is certainly a pleasure to finally meet you as well," she replied, examining the LifeWing curiously. A Griffon Vulture, hm? She was pretty in an odd way, the woman thought, with her brown body and white head. although there was something about her sharp claws and beak that made her slightly fearsome as well. The Woodrider knew that LifeWings were usually gentle creatures, healers through and through, but it didn't change the bird's appearance.
For her question, the Candidate Mistress' Assistant smiled fondly at Cyanee, then looked to the bird once more. "They treat me well enough, though there are those, of course, who are a handful and a half. But then, there always have to be at least one or two troublemakers, or it's not a normal group."
Kiyosh seemed to make s noise something approaching a chuckle, though the Lifewing wasn't particularly noisy when she wasn't singing. It must make your life interesting then. The Lifewing looked beyond Ylara for a moment, looking at Cr'wean. Her rider was still being remarkable well behaved, but he wasn't really doing anything much. She stared at him for a moment to get across the fact that she wasn't pleased with this. Her rider frowned a bit then sighed lightly. He knew better then to try and annoying Kiyosh. She could yell at him as well as he could yell at her.
"What is your dragon like? She is a vegetarian, if I remember correctly." He remembered thinking Wood dragons were some of the most interesting since their diet varied so widely from the established norm. He wasn't a Dragon Healer, but it certainly intrigued him. Cyan jumped onto Cr'wean's conversation, displaying her interest as well.
"Does Orylth have a favorite food? Dragons can have favorite foods, right?" Cyan looked at Cr'wean for confirmation but he merely shrugged.
"Lifewings have preferred diets but Kiyosh will eat any meat you put in front of her. I imagine they can, but they don't have to." He wasn't entirely sure if he was right though so he looked at Ylara for confirmation.
The Woodrider inclined her head to the beautiful creature, then cocked it slightly, angling her gaze upwards and slightly behind the LifeWing, where her Bonded one was perched on a ledge, just watching. Smiling adoringly, she nodded for Cr'wean's question. "She is, as are all Woods. They abhor the sight of blood as a general rule, though that can be overcome given time." She considered the Candidate's question next, then smiled.
A rustling noise was heard, leather flapping, then the Wood herself settled to the ground, rumbling a greeting to her Mine and her companions. She then looked Kiyosh over curiously. "Why don't you ask her?" Ylara invited Cyan, and Orylth's head swung around.
Ask me what child? she inquired, her voice lightly gentle in the girl's mind.
Cr'wean noded a little, finding this quite interesting. Woods were interesting in the realm of dragon colors, having their own rules so to speak. They didn't eat meat, had fish when they rose, and could chew firestone as well as clutch at the same time. True, the number of eggs likely to come out of it was greatly reduced and they were small dragons anyway, but it was still a big thing. He wondered if diet and this behavior was linked. He was sure more dragon minded Lifewing riders had noticed it, so he didn't worry overmuch.
Kiyosh turned to the Wood dragoness and bobbed her head in greeting. Cr'wean observed the Wood's entrance and inclined his head by way of greeting. Cyanee on the other hand looked ecstatic. She turned to Ylara, who invited her to ask, and she was further confirmed by a gentle sentence in her mind. It was different, this new voice. Kiyosh in her mind seemed more lower in pitch then this new voice, though really there was no pitch at all involved. The candidate took a step forward and spoke to the dragoness excitedly.
"Hello Orylth, it's very nice to see you in person. I was very much wondering if you had a favorite food." Cyanee looked very interested in the dragoness. She had only really met the dragon of the rider who had searched her, and he was a Bluerider.
The Wood's eyes were whirling in gentle blues and greens as she examined those who were around her beloved Own. She then looked back to the girl as she came forwards some, rumbling softly in amusement for the emotion she could easily sense coming off of the child. Her head cocked slightly as she considered the question, her tail tapping thoughtfully on the ground, then she settled more fully, relaxing and shifting her wings faintly. I do not really have one I would call my favorite above all others, she replied after a long moment. Although I do prefer the little bluefruits that are all along the Southern Beach usually.[/i][/color]
