Theia chirred happily as he did as she urged, and hovered a moment before settling to the table and nudging his wing open further, as Tanzanite was doing with Gus. The Grey was at the point where he was about ready to actually start moving his wings, Laria thought, then looked to K'rill as he spoke, cocking her head slightly. She then shook it, a sad look entering her eye. "No. I was wounded before the dragons ever came," she murmured softly, and her fire-lizards, sensing her intense sadness, instantly stopped what they were doing and converged on her, Gus pressing to her chest and reaching up to nuzzle her chin, and the two adults settling to her shoulders and pressing small heads to her cheeks.
"I wanted so desperately to be a rider. It was my biggest dream. But then I was wounded. I didn't know at the time it would keep me from it, mind you, but when the dragons came on Search, I was told by a Green that I was unfit due to being half-blind. She was very kind about it, not arrogant or overbearing. She seemed truly sad for me, because I know she could sense how much I longed for it." The girl sighed softly and pressed her cheeks to each adult flitt in turn, then gently kissed Gus' nose. "I went with them to the Weyr anyways, and started assisting in the training of others' fire-lizards there. Then I came here." She smiled faintly and looked to Cyrus.
"I intend to continue training my fire-lizards, and helping others like you train theirs. I don't want to be viewed as useless just because I happen to lack an eye. Theia is my left eye."
