Name: D'rian Wycliff
Pronunciation: Dree-Ehn Why-clehf
Gender: Male
Age: 19
Turnday: 55.04.09
Weyr: Rainbow Mysts Weyr
Rank: Weyrling (Former Journeyman Smith)
Family:
Mother: Apprentice Smith Aleena (47)
Father: Journeyman Smith Darven (50)
Siblings: Apprentice Smith Yurina (22), Journeyman Harper Hurell (17)
Weyrmate: N/A(Too young)
Friends: NPCs
Pets:
Silver-Pink Queen Lily- Small for a Silver, due to the pink side of her, she is a shimmering silver shade, with pink legs and a slight edging of pink, barely visible, on her wings, which are currently a little large for her body. She'll grow into them though. She is a loving and slightly silly little beast, with a love for music. Due to her influence, her Mine is slightly less tone deaf than he used to be.
Brown Cypress- A rich golden brown hue, fading into a darker shade on his wing membranes and spinal ridge. He is large for a Brown, about the same size as a small King Flitter, with a long, slender tail and slightly gold-toned white claws. Thoughtful and quiet, he doesn't like conflict, and will try and mediate if he's able, although, as a fire-lizard he has far less success at this than a Brown dragon would.
Appearance: He stands at a height of roughly six feet tall, and is heavily muscled, as per one of his background. His eyes are a rich sapphire shade, intelligent and usually quick to see things others miss, although not always. Possessed of rather uninteresting looking sandy brown locks that are kept close-cropped, he has a myriad of burn scars along his arms and on his hands that come from the learning of one of his former craft. He is heavily tanned, as most tend to be when working with heat and fire, although this also comes from spending his free time out in the hot Igen sun. He tends to wear thick and sturdy leathers, but is coming to enjoy the slightly less harsh feels of other fabrics as well, not really being used to them. No jewelry or adornments does he wear, not even of his own making, for he feels it would be too vain.
Personality: For all of his intimidating appearance, this young former Smith is actually very gentle and friendly, not taken to harsh words or criticism. He will try to be helpful if he's able to, although sometimes this can be taken wrong and lead to those he's trying to help thinking he's being patronizing. He's really not, he just comes across that way for his ignorance of how to really be diplomatic.
His dragoness and his fire-lizard are his greatest loves, and he takes great care with them, making it seem as if he spoils them. To an extent, this is true, but both Rayneth and Cypress return the love and affection in spades, and it's easy to see the relationship that flows between this man and his Bonded ones.
So far as women are concerned, he is adorably clueless as to how to deal with them, leading some to believe his preferences lie the other direction. His Impression to a female dragon has only enhanced this, and that she can potentially clutch as her mother did makes it that much worse. He doesn't know his own mind on the matter just yet, but also knows he has time to think it over, being a Weyrling and not really having to concern himself with that just now.
History:
The day this lad was born was a happy occasion for his parents and at the time single sibling, for Aleena had been told she was unable to bear more children safely. She refused to take that lying down, and thus Dorian came into the world, screaming and bawling his little head off, causing his father to laugh and his mother to cry tired tears of joy. As he aged, the boy was taken in and adored by every member of the Igen Smiths' Hall(an off-shoot of the Main Smith's Hall at Telgar, placed at Igen for little, everyday things), and he learned quickly to respect the heat and flames of the forges, though he earned many a scar first. It was not long after his twelfth birthingday that this boy became an Apprentice Smith, and he showed he was good enough at it to be accorded respect. He never showed off his creations, though some were quite exquisite, fearing he would be seen as vain and selfish, although all his pieces were made for others' joy. His favorite and most labor-intensive piece went to his mother when she grew ill from an unknown(at the time) disease, causing her to waste away into almost nothing, a wraith of her former, vibrant self. That piece seemed to restore her somewhat, and Darion made sure it was always near to her hand if she wasn't already wearing it.
At the age of eighteen, the lad walked the tables to become a Journeyman, receiving the egg of his Brown as a gift for his success from his family, and shortly thereafter, the dragons came on Search from Igen. He didn't Impress there, though several dragonets seemed to consider him before moving on to others, and when Ayleneth's unusual Hatching was announced to be imminent, the boy was whisked away to Rainbow Mists Weyr, where he found himself tossed ungracefully down onto the Sands after struggling into a too small white robe. Singed, but not hurting, he looked up, only to find himself eyeball to eyeball with a sweet little creature of dark black, overlaid with the most beautiful shades of pink and blue. Thus was his Impression to Rayneth, one of the first two Auroras ever born outside of Ice Stone Weyr to the North.
The young former Smith had no idea how he was to care for the delicate little creature, although he figured it was likely the same way he cared for his Brown Cypress, who adopted Rayneth as a bigger sister who he could sleep on if she allowed it, which she usually did. They now live and train in Rainbow Mists Weyr, wondering about the day when Rayneth is big enough to fly, if they will be sent away to Ice Stone or be allowed to remain at Rainbow Mists....

The day of the Hatching arrived, but it did not begin as the boy had been expecting. He awoke and was told to get his Hatching Robe and go out to the Bowl, where a Blue dragon was waiting to take him to Rainbow Mists Weyr for the Aurora's Hatching. He had volunteered to go there anyways, but hearing of the Aurora's clutch, he had been more persistent, wanting to see one of the beautiful Northern ladies in person, not just hear about them!
He was standing near the Blue when the hum started at Rainbow Mists, and the Queen ordered the dragon immediately into the air. His rider and the candidate swiftly mounted, and the Blue took to the air, vanishing into the darkness and swiftly reappearing over Rainbow Mists. The boy struggled into the too small white robe that was required of him, though one could easily still see the heavy leather riding pants he wore, and the Blue darted into the Hatching Grounds, his rider unceremoniously dumping their cargo and the pair flitting back out again.
The process of being in the air, getting through /between/ and reappearing over RMW, getting into his robe and being dumped rather than dropped off took less than five minutes, and it left Dorian spitting out sand and feeling heat singe his face and hands. Sharding Bluerider! he thought ungraciously. Darn him for not being kind enough to actually take the time to let Dorian get off on his OWN! Grumbling under his breath, the boy went to get up, but got only as far as pushing himself up on his hands before he felt himself being watched. That brought his eyes up, and the world fell away as rainbows of color enthralled him.
Mine? Are you alright D'rianMine? That Blue was very mean to dump you like that...
Blinking, Dorian... No, D'rian, managed to look past the eyes of the little one, and see his new love for the first time. Her hide was exquisite, a rich ebony shade with vibrant swirls of pink and blue, much like the Northern Lights he'd heard could be seen in the sky above Ice Stone Weyr. An Aurora, he thought wonderingly, and she cocked her head slightly.
Yes, Rayneth is an Aurora.... I think... But I am also hungry mine...
"Yes, yes of course," the boy murmured, struggling to his feet and trying to ignore the laughter of a few of the more vicious candidates, who'd gotten amusement from seeing him dumped on his face. "Let's get you fed, my beautiful girl." And with that, the Female Aurora Rayneth had found and Impressed her LifeMate D'rian Wycliff, making him one of the first Aurorariders outside of Ice Stone Weyr...
