Step Four, Fun. [74.08.14]

74.08.14-Mid-Morning

R'le was in one of his moods. Not a bad mood, just the sort of mood that people who knew him well came to love or hate. He was in the mood to do something, and more often then not it would mean someone, somewhere was going to be dragged into his schemes to have fun. Today he had two people in mind. He continued to walk the halls, heading to the first person's weyr.

Lithena was not specifically a target for today's scheme, more like he wanted to recruit her as a coconspirator. And why not? Lithena loved to have fun as much as he did, and knew the real target of his plan very well. His thoughts were still coming together on what the plan actually was, but he was sure going to try his best to make it work, even if he had to make it up on the fly. He was still on target for his destination, even while Burn clung to his shoulder, not quite sure what was going on. Burn did recognize that it was odd not to be up in the air at this hour, so something what different, but he hadn't quite gotten around to figuring out this piece of R'le personality yet. However, R'le didn't seem to be in a bad mood, so he merely took it as that he was doing something different. Little did he know.

So when R'le finally arrived at Lithena's Weyr he had exactly one goal in mind. That was to somehow get both Lithena and Rilora having fun. He had no plan, one firelizard on his shoulder and a bright smile on his face. He was so very confident he could get his goal achieved. So he knocked at the door and waited for Lithena to come to the door, so his first step could be accomplished. Getting Lithena on board with this plan.

The day had barely begun, and it was already starting off full of things for Lithena and her rather energetic Green firelizard. The young firelizard had insisted on rising at an early hour, because she was hungry, and such a thing should not be left unattended. While Lithena was still working on showing Iolanthe how to get her own food without bothering the kitchen staff, this morning was not one the flitt was willing to go alone for her last trip had been unsuccessful. She wanted to be fed promptly.

Thus Lithena had gotten up and was in fairly good order for this part of the morning on a sevenday's end without much planned. She had not heard of any good parties the day before, which was probably good for her head. Plus Hrith had been a little more concerned for others than she usually was when considering the Green flitt, since the dragoness saw some of herself in her. Well, Lithena would take Hrith's consideration wherever she could get it.

So it was she was merely laying atop her bed, Iolanthe stretched out on her stomach, when a knock came at her door. Whatever daydream she'd been in the midst of vanished like the sea fog under the bright sun. She didn't really remember what she'd been thinking about before. She moved Iolanthe (who perhaps had been taking feline lessons from Bel) to the bed and made her way quickly to the door, pillow hair still smooshed to one side of her face.. She was a curious sort.

She opened the door quickly and wide, and seeing who it was a grin spread across her face. She tried to push her hair back into arrangement as she said, "Good morning, R'le!" A cheep of greeting from the flitt came from across the room. Hrith was out, getting her wings some stretching and air since they were up so early. "What can we do you for?"

"Heya Lithena!" R'le piped up with his greeting, tailed immediately by Burn's single chirp. He vaguely noticed that Lithena had bed head and was straightening it out, but in general, he was trying to keep his mind on target.

"Okay so I got this plan," Here was where most of his friends either ducked out of the way or got a helmet on, "Well, more like just this thing that we have to do. Well, more like I have to and I want you to help. Sorry if its early, I figure if we're gonna take this on, we better get on it now, ya know?" R'le stopped, realized that he had just rambled and laughed. "Well that wasn't helpful was it? Best get to the point." R'le grinned, almost deviously and his arms started to become more animated as he spoke.

"Your sister doesn't get nearly enough fun in her diet. I think that you and me," here he gestured to Lithena and himself, "We should go on and fix that. For good measure since I'm asking you, I figure if there is heavy lifting to be done I'll fix up everything its just..." He looked a little disappointed and sighed. "I have no idea where to start." R'le perked up quickly, back to his devious mood. "Not that that will stop me, but I figure two heads are better then one, and you know Rilora well. So, what do you say? Wanna jump in?" R'le was way too enthusiastic. That happened. He's rather been too enthusiastic, it made things more fun.

As R'le preambled about his plan, Lithena fretted over her hair. It wasn't settling down like she wanted it to, and that just couldn't be. She'd have to slip back into her room and comb it down. It wouldn't do to go on a quest for fun with messy hair. She lifted her head up the slightest bit to reengage with 'to the point' R'le. She understood indirect, it was the way she thought sometimes, not others, it was indirectly indirect. Or, well, something like that. Anyway, the plan:

The line about fun in her diet sent Lithena into a giggle fit. She tried not to laugh too loud while he finished talking, but Lithena appreciated humor (perhaps too much? was that possible?) and this one had struck her just the right way. She let the laugh roll out of her chest and light the smile on her face. She loved being happy. She liked this plan already. "Good one, R'le. Fun in her diet," she chuckled. "And I'm in! Surely we can come up with something for Rilora to do. Y'know what she likes? Being outside. It's the cool part of the year sure, but it gets cooler in Golden Flight so she should be set if it doesn't rain. ...I haven't been outside today. Is it rainin'?" Lithena asked. She hoped not, it didn't rain so much at the Weyr in the winter, as was the way of tropical areas. "She works inside, so getting her outside and OUT of the Weyr, that'd do her a big load of good to start with. I got a disc to throw and that'll warm us up anyway. ...plan?" she asked with a smile. Perhaps it was too much to suggest all at once, or R'le really had ideas he wasn't sharing, but he had asked so Lithena had shared. She waited for his response with a wide smile. Behind her, Iolanthe the Green flitt waltzed across the floor toward the talking humans. She was curious.

R'le was visibly pleased with getting a laugh out of Lithena. Always nice to get people amused, it made his job for today easier. After all, he had to get both of the Brennawen riders in a good mood. He was even happier to see that Lithena was good to jump right in. He listened carefully to her suggestions and nodded a little bit. It sounded good to him.

"It's nice and clear today, so no worries about rain. Outside is easy enough, I can make sure to grab snacks and stuff so we can eat outside too." R'le looked thoughtful for a moment, thinking on where 'out of the Weyr' would be good. Well, he had his fair share of places he liked to hang out, though most of them involved stomping through he underbrush so he figured that would be less enjoyable for stuff like disc throwing. R'le suddenly snapped his fingers, indicating he got an idea.

"How about hanging about a beach? I know some good patches of shore that most people doing know about, and it would be a quick little getaway. What do you think?" He rather hoped she would agree, or if not give an even more interesting suggestion. He could handle more interesting. R'le was very focused on Lithena, so he didn't notice the Green flitter trotting over, curious to see the conversing humans. Burn, however, did. The Flame watched her quietly, having given up figuring R'le out for the moment. His tail was waving back and forth as he clung to R'le, resting his head on the man's shoulder. It was a comfortable way to pass the time.

[Kaya]

"A stretch on the beach?" Lithena thought aloud. If it weren't too windy and they didn't get soaked they should be fine. A light jacket wouldn't hurt though. "Yeah, with food and my disc that should be fun. And if it gets too cold, I don't know, we could always move. But I hope it's nice enough today. So...you're getting food and I'm getting my sister?" Lithena asked to summarize when she caught a Green movement lunge out of the corner of her eye.

She moved to block the flitter who slammed right into her chest and left a nice scratch right below her collar bone. She scooped up the firelizard, took a look at her as they were both wincing from their minor pains, and deciding she would live scolded "Bad, Iolanthe! NO!" and moved inside the door before shutting it abruptly in R'le's face. "You know better than to jump at other firelizards like that! It's rude and not okay. There is a time for playing and it's not, oh! Just...don't do that again," Lithena frowned, placing the Green sternly on the bed.

Now, about the matter that she was still bleeding, and she didn't want it to get on her shirt. She didn't want to walk (albeit with a furious quickness) all the way to the healers' quarters so she found the next best thing: the dust cloth that she had been meaning to use to clean around her room for...a while. Fortunately procrastinating left her with a clean (or maybe just cleaner) rag and she pressed it against where Iolanthe had scratched her. She almost felt a bit bad for the flitt then. She hadn't meant to hurt her, she could feel the Green's faint presence in her mind sulking on the bed. Lithena gave her one pet with her free hand and looked her over again. She seemed fine. "...Sorry, Io. You just can't lunge at people," she apologized. "Even if it is for 'playing'."

Lithena didn't know if she would find R'le still at her door but she returned all the same to tell him that she was fine and that she could still take care of rounding up Rilora (and maybe even T'kar if she got lucky...).

“Yeah sure I can get the food –“ R’le had been about to say more when a Green flitter moved into his vision, and was abruptly cut off by Lithena’s movement, but that’s as far as he saw. Burn had seen what the Green had been aiming at and figured it would be a good idea to escape. The issue with R’le was that Burn had decided to ‘escape’ but diving down the back of his tunic.

“Burn!” R’le contorted at the firelizards attempts to squirm down his tunic before trying to get the flitter out. The Flame was not wanting that at all, so he stayed just in the most annoying place, clinging to the man’s back. The Cloudrider could tell that that was going to hurt just as much later as it did now. At this point he just said shards to it and pulled his tunic off, Burn electing to come off with it. R’le shook the tunic once, but recognized that Burn was not going to be coming off without being pried off. Or some shouting. One or the other.

“OUT!” The Flame firelizard skittered out of the tunic, and R’le attempted to put it back on, just as Burn thought it would be a good idea to land on his shoulder. The Cloudrider sighed and relocated the Flame flitter to his head, grumbling mildly on Burn’s clinginess. Lucky for him he got his tunic back on before the door reopened to check to see if he was still there. He hadn’t noticed the exact moment that Lithena had slammed the door behind her but, hey, he had been kinda busy.

“I’ll grab the food. Quiorith knows the way so he can just tell Hrith where we’re going. Meet you there.” His anger with Burn seemed to have evaporated, but he was already planning to dump Burn on Quiorith for the day. He gave a parting wave to Lithena and trotted off to acquire the food. Not very hard, he was on fairly good terms with the cooks. He liked to keep it that way, since it meant he could avoid death glares if he asked for food after mealtimes.

Quiorith was done sending the location when R’le materialized in the Bowl. He had gotten the food he wanted, which included beverages, all sealed up and ready for travel. Nothing like a picnic to slack off, er, have fun. “You know the way, let’s get going.” R’le hopped on, and let Quiorith do the work, which the Cloud was always happy to do. The Cloud took off and lazily headed toward the beach in question, something that R’le had picked specifically. It was actually pretty large, the dragons would be able to land and enjoy the fun with the riders, though Quiorith intended to be up in the air having fun. It had both areas of wide flat sand and some areas with rocks to climb and sit on. It also went back into the jungle, since that was how R’le had found the place. Quiorith landed, and R’le took the food off, and some blankets to sit on, rather than the sand. There was not a breeze, so kicking up sand wouldn’t be an issue. Good. One to step three he supposed. Or rather, first he had to lay out blankets. He got to doing that.
