Appearance: Amaeli is of average height, standing at roughly 5'4" of a rather slender build. She is rather striking in appearance with well defined and somewhat angular features. She has a heart shaped face, around which long blonde hair falls in soft waves down to her shoulders and stark blue eyes are bordered by dark black lashes. Her eyebrows are soft and somewhat more brown in color than her hair. Her lips are full and a beautiful bright pink. Her chin is rather short and blunt. Her ears are small and petite, but not abnormal. She has her curves, having a particularly large bust size and an hourglass figure, though she does not often show it off.
Her neck is slender and long, connecting to equally slender shoulders which she typically holds squarely at all times, her chin slightly tilted up as if to command respect. Her body is slender and lithe with steps that are meant to cover ground, not show off or appear particularly graceful. It really doesn't matter so long as you get there.
Her expressions often seem to change quickly and easily from one into another. However her typical expression when not interacting with others is often perceived as stern and may cause some to think her unplkeasent company.
She never wears white. She prefers bright jewel tones and cheery colors, which she may often be seen wearing if she can, by chance, afford the fabric or the garments themselves. Otherwise, she will be wearing pale greens and soft browns. She usually wears skirts and only wears pants when she has the need to ride a horse, which the need has greatly diminished since comping to the Weyr, though she does not feel as comfortable in pants as she does in skirts and dresses.
Summary:
Height: 5'4"
Build: Shapely, but thin
Hair color: Blonde
Eye Color: Blue
Skin tone: light tan
Personality: Calm, sometimes considered too calm, Amaeli does not react rashly in any situation, though she may react quickly. She has a quick mind and a great intelligence. This she applies towards helping others and learning all she can about healing in order to one day not only become a Master, but to always be able to better help her patients.
She has many pet peeves. One of them being that riders seem think themselves so much more important than non-riders, including the healers who have so often saved their lives. She does, however, have respect for anyone who shows respect in return. No one, in her mind, is more important than another person. In fact, this carries over to her decisions in healing. She puts her entire value into her work and feels that she has no value outside of said work. She struggles with this constantly. This comes from the value put on her to succeed as a healer above all else... and the idea that was given to her that her only value was in what she could achieve. It may take her time to get over this...
Acting confident is no problem for her. She always appears more confident than she really is. However, in certain situations, such as talking to a male she likes, she has a tendency to stammer. She will generally avoid anyone who catches her eye and anyone who might pursue her will likely be treated as if she is oblivious to their intentions and may receive a rather cold shoulder...
Amaeli is not good at admitting someone else is just as smart as she is and has a real competitive streak when it comes to this. This comes from the fact that her intelligence has become a bit of a shield for her - knowing enough and pushing people away or down keeps them from getting to know the real you. She will often make it quite clear that she feels she is more intelligent than those around her in several ways. One way being in the very way that she carries herself - the tilt of her head, the way she holds her shoulders. In fact, she is smart and very good at what she does. The thing is... she has a hard time acknowledging her weaknesses and faults, which is truly holding her back as a healer...
However, if she perceives a weakness in someone else, she is often much calmer to them. She loves to take care of them. To actually gain her real attentions can be difficult. She is more likely to be open to learning about someone who is hurt, but may have it harder to really attract her attention. While at the same time, she simply has a hard time making friends as she will often study them rather than simply try to befriend them - studying physical and mental strengths and weaknesses in order to try to be a better healer as, after all, her only value is as a healer.
Despite this, she does not feel like she has any real power and control, and yet she tries to exert what power and control she can over others from what she has gathered about them in order to feel better about herself. Thus she can be a bully. She doesn't always realize that she does this, but does it out of habit much of the time, and, despite her claims, is in fact a hypocrite as, in her mind is the fact that she is the most important person. This is something that she will not and cannot admit to herself.
Positive/Negative Summary:
+Kind, Caring, Loving, Determined, Intelligent, Calm, Clear headed.
-Will adamantly speak up against riders, does not respect the Weyr system, stubborn, let's her heart get broken easily, finds difficulty feeling herself to be valued as she is, arrogant about what she knows - thinks she is more intelligent than anyone else at times. Can be a bully
Location: Rainbow Mists Weyr
History:
It was twenty nine turns ago when Maerli and her husband finally had their first child after they had tried for turns. They named her Amaeli. And the took a great pride in her and pushed her from the time she was born as hard as they could without causing her harm. They wanted her to do everything and learn everything quickly and well. You would think that as their first child, they would have put more value in her. They wanted her to be the best and to do her best. And thus, they still pushed her, though they loved her, but Answen especially, was not that good at showing how much that they did love her. Maerli took the child with her to the Healer Hall and as soon as she was of an age where she could learn, her mother had her apprenticed there and from there, Amaeli only saw her mother when she came to the Harper Hall rather than all the time. She no longer lived with her parents. Though it would seem normal to many, the girl was younger than most when left in the Hall's care at the request of her mother and the abandonment would forever damage her confidence in herself and others.
She learned quickly and acted out quite often. It was the only way she could think to get her mother to come see her. Her father never came. It was when she was twelve old, at the end of her first year of apprenticeship that she would learn she had her first sibling, but she would never really get to know him... And she would never learn about her other siblings at all. Not until much later. They got more of their families love. Or so she thought. But her family did not push the mas hard. From her mother and father's point of view, they were giving her the best by pushing her and giving her up to learn, while the others remained at home and were not pushed quite as hard. But, of course, Amaeli didn't see it that way. In fact, she saw it as an absolute betrayal.
But soon, she got used to it. Especially after her mother and father transferred to another hold when she was twelve turns of age and left her entirely to the healers of the Healer Hall. She stopped fighting it then and threw herself into her studies as her only real escape. She trained with the mind healer and those that created potions and remedies primarily. She studied the human mind in hopes of understanding, and the human body in hopes of becoming the best healer yet known to Pern. She wasn't well liked by most of her fellow apprentices, but her teachers did appreciate her attention to detail and her willingness and desire to learn. They also appreciated her overall intelligence. Yet, they struggled to get her to get her to acknowledge and fix her weaknesses. However, they saw no reason to keep her from walking the tables at the age of nineteen turns and sending her on her way to Rainbow Mists Weyr where she would be learning from the Master Healer there and, hopefully, would overcome weaknesses and what had become to be seen as her blatant dislike of riders ho she believed lorded over everyone, though she did much the same, and her dislike of wherhandlers, honestly spurred on by her father and his neglect of her.
Craft: Healer
Ranking: Journeyman
Strengths: Cures and remedies as well as poisons and potions. Treating external injuries
Weaknesses: Treating shock or internal trauma. (does not have the fortitude to deal with it herself. Lacks that particular understanding of people.) Mind healing, though well trained, she needs to deal with her own issues in order to truly be able to help people. Instead she may cause more harm than good.
