A dragoness stood still in the Weyrbowl of Sky Mountain Weyr, silently bidding it all adieu as her eyes scanned over it all, swirling with a mixture of both sadness and excitement. She was leaving her home where she had grown and where she had known so many dragons for so long. She was going to be leaving this all behind. And she wasn't going to be sad about it either. Because things woudl get a lot better.
You see, here she never had a chance at any sort of leadership or love as a leader. She was a queen and she deserved the prestiege of a Queen and that was what she was going to get. She was sure that upon her arrival, the entire Weyr would be awaiting her, ready to take these annoying bags which were weighing her down for the time being as they prepared to depart for their new home - Rainbow Mists Weyr. it would be Midday by the time they arrived at Rainbow Mists Weyr, that she already knew. Her rider had let her know, but she was too busy fantasizing about all the kings and males would fawn over her and how even the Queen's mate would turn his attention on her and be dazzled by her incredible rainbow hide and shining colors. She was sure they had never seen a rainbow quite so glorious as her. She spread her wings as if showing off for them, though they could not yet see her. Cut it out Orikaeth. We aren't there for anyoen to admire you yet... of course you have caught the eye of a few kings around here this morning. Retny said affectionately to her dragoness, walking up with the last pack and patting her great multi-colored leg.
{I am just that fabulous! I'm sure they're all waiting on baited breath for us to arrive! After all, what is more spectacular than a full grown mighty rainbow dragoness in the skies?!}The dragoness' tone was almost dreamy. She was going somewhere where she would be one of two queens - well three if you counted that that... Abyss. The thought of her made the Rainbow hiss and lash her tail. How could such a thing exist agian! It shouldn't. Dark Mists Weyr was dead. Dead and if it wasn't... she would be certain that it was. She would do what was necessary to protect Pern and her knew home. They would see what this little Abyss had to offer. At least she had not done anything yet. She lashed her tail again and then her mind turned to happier thoughts such as greens wanting to talk toh er and give hre attention and making starlights jealous and even making the gold jealous! That could be qutie fun!
Retny grinned. She was sure to get her own attention. She thought herself a rather rare beauty compared to many women. but, beyond that, she was serious about leading and about having fun. She was going to make the most of this change and that was for certain. Maybe she would even find something entirely worthwhile other than just trying to help the Weyrwoman run a successful and strong Weyr. After all, RMW, was the center of Pern's cultural changes right now and such a young Weyrwoman could nto be expected to do it on her own. Not that Retny had much room to talk as she was equally young. But they could do better together. she couldnt' wait to meet Rilora. It was going to be very itneteresting and she was determined to make it very fun.
The Rainbow knelt for her rider who climbed up the great multi-colored leg into the riding straps and made sure all was secured as needed before giving the order for her dragoness to take off. With a roar of triumph, the rainbow did jsut that, leaving eyes on the ground looking up at her retreating form which then blinked Between. One... Two... Three... And they blinked back into reality below a warm sun over a tropical Rainbow Mists Weyr which was qutie different than the windy peeks and cold of Sky Mountain's high reaches. The falls were beautiful and the rainbows... Well the rianbow dragon thought they accented her nicely as they flew ever closer to the Weyr itself.
She began her downward spiral, quick at firs then slower and lazier, trying to show off her grace as she touched down, sending a puff of dust out as she backwinged and landed smoothly.
Where was the fanfare, the waiting kings and browns and like sized dragons - the greens waiting to talk to her, the starlights waiting to be jealous of her. Hmph! The dragoness snorted irritably, but Retny simply patted her. "Be calm my love. It is not as if they knew when we were coming. Nor do they know us. I think we were expecting too much fanfare..." Retny undid her straps and slid down.. She would need help with these bags though, and finding the weyr where she would be living from here on out. She looked up. It must be after noon already here... or close to. It was an odd feeling, having left a much differetn time behind her at Sky Moutain Weyr on the Northern continent in the East.
Orikaeth, inform the queen of our arrival.
Orikaeth nodded her great head. {Hello. I am Rainbow Orikaeth and me and my Retny have just now arrived.} The queen said, though she was not targeting the mind of the gold, but rather, not caring who heard... in fact, hoping many heard and many would come. As well as hoping that some drudges or caverns workers would show up to help with these bags. she was NOT carrying them all herself. she refused to!
Retny sighed. Orikaeth...
