Name: A'burn Mitlinde
Pronunciation: A-bern
Gender: Male
Age: 27 Turns
Turnday: 48.01.01
Weyr: Rainbow Mists Weyr
Rank: Crimsonrider/Journeyman Healer
Family:
Father - A'bran - Ironrider at Fort Weyr.
Mother - Aurryn - Kitchen Worker
Sister - Brryn - Dragonrider at Fort Weyr
Weyrmate: Not sure.
Friends: None yet.
Pets: None as of now.
Appearance: Short brown hair from his time as a rider, Ahburn has found that is the best way to keep it manageable. His hazel-green eyes are almond-shaped. His nose is nicely sized for the size of his head. His mouth, there is nothing really remarkable about it, except for when he smiles. He has a crooked smile, which could be called odd. He just calls it, his dorky smile.
Ahburn stands at about 5' 10" or 5' 9" tall. Normally, he wears dark colors. Dark colors as if he was in mourning. His shirt, normally black or a very dark navy blue. His pants, always black. Shoes, all he has are black boots, so there's no question there. Other than that, there's not much that really remarkable about Ahburn or his style of clothing.
Personality:A'burn is a generally quiet man. Never one to directly speak what's on his mind. He alludes to it though. He keeps up a casual tone, no matter if he's angry or happy. Just so that he can keep the mystery, as he loves to make people guess his moods since he finds it so funny when people get it wrong. He also doesn't like people knowing he's a tad bit insecure (more than a tad bit, but a tad bit is all he will admit to). Though that doesn't mean he doesn't care about other people. He always tries to help when he can.
He's quite the patient man. He can endure longer periods of waiting than most people. This helps him in his studies quite a bit, when he's studying something particularly challenging. Though A'burn does still get frustrated when he can't understand something. Which happens every so often.
For someone who's generally a quiet person, A'burn sure does like to teach people. Give him something to teach anyone else, and he'll chat up the world about it. Whether it be Harper related or non-Harper related material. If he knows something others don't, and they're willing to have him teach them, he'll do it by golly. Any other time, it's usually just a quiet "hi" or "hello there" to anyone he begins to talk to, with the probability of him opening up as the conversation goes on.
He is a prideful person, not one to easily admit he wants something or is wrong. He did not originally want to be a Rider, but now that he is, he wouldn't trade it for anything. However, A'burn would never admit to this. He'd rather go on saying he doesn't want this than admit he does.
History: Born in Fort Hold, Ahburn was an only child to two Harpers. It was really a no brainer that he would go into the Haper craft. His parents expected him to, even some of the Holds people expected him to. But he had to go through childhood before he could become a Healer.
His childhood was slightly uneventful. When he was eight, he scraped his knee playing with some of the other children. That's the most exciting thing he ever did. Dragons were nothing new to this boy, he saw them pretty frequently. He never thought he'd be Searched one day.
When he turned twelve, he surprised everyone by entering the Harper's Hall. True, he already knew some basics of Harpering growing up with two Harpers. But he didn't really want to be a Harper, with everyone's expectations for him to be a great Harper. So Ahburn threw himself into his studies as a Healer apprentice. This made the other apprentices confused. Why was he so intent on his studies? They were there, they could be friends.
But this wasn't what Ahburn focused on. Friends were nice and all, but he wanted to make his parents proud of him, even though he went into a different craft. So, he threw himself into his studies. He was determined to make himself the best he could be. Better than the other apprentices if he could.
His Healer studies were teaching him to deal with his patience. Or rather, his lack of patience. As a young child, Ahburn was not very patient. This showed in pretty much everything he did. He disliked games that took a long time. As well as anything else that took too long. He wanted everything to just hurry up. Though, some of the lessons for Healing did take time. That he couldn't rush or else he might mess up.
By the time he was eighteen turns old, he had little doubt that he would walk the tables. Ahburn was one of the best apprentices of his turn. Or at least, he thought he was anyway. Either way, he did walk the tables at eighteen. He was extremely happy. Then he was Searched. He stood for a few Clutches, but didn't Impress.
So Ahburn stood for the Clutch, again, as reluctant as he was when he entered the Healing craft. One by one the eggs hatched to reveal the dragon inside. He didn't pay much attention to colors. Just that there were quite a few pinks. He didn't Impress that time around, but his pride made him stay in Candidacy. Clutches came and went without Ahburn Impressing a dragon. And he felt alright with that. He didn't want a dragon anyway. All he wanted, was to get back to his life of Healing.
Ahburn was twenty-one the next time a major event happened to him. It was early morning, Rukbat had yet to rise. The Queen's eggs had started to hatch. So, he got the robes on as he usually did, and stood at the back of the group of boys. It started out normally, eggs hatching and Impressing to boys and girls other than himself. All he wanted was for this to end. And it did, but not the way Ahburn would have liked. There were only two eggs left to hatch. One large one and a medium one. They both hatched at the same time, one on top of the other. The large egg hatched a Crimson while the medium hatched a Brown.
The Brown landed on top of the Crimson, which made the Crimson angry. He slashed at the Brown, and stalked towards the Candidates. The Brown also straggled behind, walking his way over to the remaining Candidates. The Brown Impressed first, to a boy who was off to the side. The Crimson was a bit pickier with who he chose. Finally the Crimson made his choice. A'burnMine, get Cyth food. Now. Great, he thought. I get a bossy dragon.
Their Weyrling years were pretty rough. Cyth didn't get along with his Clutchmates, and A'burn had to pretty much force him to socialize. The lessons were rough since A'burn had no real want to be there. Though he finally gave in and actually tried his best to get through them. After graduation, A'burn spent time going back to the Healer's Hall to become a Journeyman since his father rudely interrupted him. This took a few more turns.
By the time A'burn was twenty seven, he was fed up with Fort Weyr. So he decided to transfer Weyrs. There weren't a whole lot of places Cyth was okay with going, being a picky dragon like he is. So, it was finally decided that they would go to Rainbow Mists Weyr.
Adoption?: Sure.
Dragon's Name: Cyth
Dragon’s Gender: Male
Dragon's Age: 6 Turns
Dragon's Color: Crimson {B0171F}
Dragon's Appearance: Cyth is a large dragon, standing at 39 feet. He is by no means the largest Crimson, but he is a large dragon. Unlike most other Kings who are built for strength and stamina, Cyth is built for speed and stamina. His wings are slightly longer than average for his size, but that is only visible if he has them outstretched near another dragon his size. Even then it is hard to tell that his wings are longer. Some could say they are the exact same length.
The hue of this dragon's hide is a dark red. This color is solid on Cyth's hide. There doesn't seem to be any other color all over his hide. There's a sheen to his hide that can make the color appear a slight bit lighter than it is in certain light. Other than that, there's nothing really remarkable about Cyth's hide.
Dragon's Personality: Cyth is in short; short tempered. The smallest of things can set him off. Whether it be others not listening to what he has to say or his rider not giving him the attention he desperately wants. What can calm him down is a simple question: How do you spell your name? The reason is quite simple, he finds much pride in his name. He believes his name holds his identity and that his identity is important.
Another thing about Cyth is that he enjoys flying. Flying for as long as he can gives him great joy. Any flying with his rider would probably be better than flying alone, though he might not admit it. In fact, he loathes to admit it. It makes him quite the "grumpy dragon" for a long while. He believes he shouldn't have to tell his rider that he enjoys flying with him more than alone.
Cyth doesn't normally interact with others. That's something A'burn frequently forces him to do. This frustrates him to no end. And A'burn seems to enjoy seeing this. This annoys him even further. Though he won't take his frustrations out on other dragons or their riders, he will often yell at his rider on these occasions.
Dragon's History:
Born in the Fall of the 3069 Turn, Cyth was the last of his Clutch to Hatch. He disliked the Brown who landed on top of him intensely, enough to give him a claw to the face. Weyrling years weren't that much better. His forced him to talk to the others. They weren't worth his time. But he gave His something to feel good about and talked to them anyway. After graduation wasn't all that exciting. Just taking His to the Healer Hall to study. Boring to the Crimson, but important to His, so he obliged by taking him.
He rarely Chased when there was a female in the sky. He didn't find them interesting enough to give time to. When His decided to transfer, Cyth gave a list of places he wouldn't go. They held nothing but his contempt. He couldn't give a reason, he just knew he didn't like those places. The decision on Rainbow Mists Weyr was an acceptable one. So he willingly went with His to their new Weyr and is quiet for the time being.
