Name: Kay
Pronunciation: Kay
Gender: Female
Age: 79
Weyr: Rainbow Mists Weyr
Rank: Dragon Rider
Family:
Sylvia ‘Lyia’ rider of Citrine Kaelieth- Sister (deceased)
T’by rider of brown Legorth- Brother (deceased)
Weyrmate: T’lor rider of blue Wolnighth
Son- Korat, harper (40)
Grandchildren-
Washta (15)
Kaotash (13)
Pets: Blue Firelizard Ghost
Personality: Kay is very straightforward in thought and actions. It is sometimes hard for her to understand things that are not as straightforward as she is, which can result in her missing things that other people see as obvious. She has a hard time expressing her feelings or dealing with ‘mushy’ things. As a friend though, she is quick to help out or defend. She is friendly enough to others, but does not always feel like she has to be around people. She has plenty of energy and is not afraid to get out and do things. She can take a prank with good grace and isn’t afraid to laugh at herself.
Appearance: Kay is a touch on the tall side for a woman of her age and is a touch thin. Her hair has a slight curve to it, preventing it from being dead straight and it falls past her shoulders. She has bangs, cut just above her eyebrows. Her hair is a dirty blond that looks a brighter color when the sun is out. Her eyes are an even blue, without any green in them. Under her bangs, there is a nasty scar that does not look like anything but a mess. It is healed as well as it is ever going to, though she covers it up sometimes with a head band usually after she gets a hair cut. She has some calluses on her fingers that indicate what instrument she has been playing, namely a flute.
History: Kay was born the second of three children, and was the only one who was at least partially trained to be a harper. Her siblings and the twins Taylor and Tyler were always good friends, even with the wide variety of ages between them. Taylor long had a crush on her, though she seemed to be the only one that never knew that. She did not find out about these feelings until she was searched for Waterfall Valley Weyr, and was getting ready to go. Taylor fessed up, and she bolted. She sort of hid at the Weyr, being a candidate meant she had plenty to distract her. When she stood for Rinabeth’s hatching she got more then her fair share of excitement, being the subject of a race between two dragonets. The winner so to speak was Sorath, the blinding neon pink, though both dragonets left their mark on Kay. She still has the scars on her forehead. This was shortly before the volcano erupted, meaning the new weyrling had to relocate to Rainbow Mists Weyr with the rest of the riders and candidates. She didn’t have much time to settle before irony had a ploy in store. Watching a later hatching she found that the twins had been searched for Rainbow Mists Weyr and impressed in the hatching. She was now facing the same situation she ran from. T’lor approached her after the hatching and apologized for pushing the issue so quickly. Things returned to the trio being good friends. For the moment. It was not too long before the Neon Pink rose, getting the issue back up in full force. Sorath was caught by Wolnighth, after the neon pink blinded those watching. It meant a content T’lor and Kay had settled the issue, just before the Weyr war. She lost her brother, who never knew that their youngest sibling had been searched as a candidate as well. For the time being things have gotten to a comfortable norm, with the trickster Ghost making things interesting.
It had been a long time coming but eventually Kay and T'lor had a child, Korat. Their son learned to love music at a young age, in no small part because of his Mother and her dragoness. When he was old enough instead of standing for clutches, he was sent to a harper hall near where Kay had grown up. He took to singing with ease and enjoyed the idea of singing and spinning tales. He would settle down at Melisong hold with a fellow musician, Shewa. Kay and T'lor often take the time to visit their son, and recently their grandchildren, who always find it exciting to see their grandparents and their dragons.
Dragon's Name: Sorath (Soar – wrath)
Dragon’s Gender: Female
Dragon's Color: Neon Pink
Dragon's Personality: Sorath is very defensive of Kay, and now of Wolnighth and T’lor. Despite the fact she is friendly as dragons go, she will not let anyone but Kay ride her. She enjoys music a good deal, unsurprising for her color. The pink is much more relaxed then her rider, fine with lounging in the sun, as long as her rider is nearby.
Dragon's Appearance: Sorath is a neon pink, therefore has a bright pink hide. When she was a dragonet and during flight, her hide becomes bright enough that it is hard to look directly at it. In length she is a dead average for her color, not particularly extraordinary outside of her submutation.
Dragon's History: Sorath is from the first clutch of Rainbow Rinabeth and Crimson Crinth. She is the first instance of the Neon mutation in the Weyr's history. She has clutched once, caught by Blue Wolnighth. The only egg of hers that survived hatched into neon purple Nyminoth who was impressed to M’jid. The Blue would continue to catch her even after she chewed firestone.
