Name: Wynah Riverborn
Pronunciation: WHY- na
Gender: female
Age: 19
Turnday: 56.05.24
Weyr: Rainbow Mists
Rank: Weyrling
Family: Telsan, adoptive father
Friends: nope
Pets: nada
Appearance: Wynah is on the tall side, at 5 foot 7, and is slender. Her hair is dark, almost black, and straight. She keeps it short, only letting it touch her shoulders so as to keep it out of the way. Her eyes are really light brown, leaning more toward a gold-amber color. Her skin is incredibly dark, as she spends much of her time outdoors.
Her clothing is always practical, and in colors that help her hide while hunting. She carries a wooden quiver on her back, with a strung wooden bow inside. The arrows within are carved by her own hand, sharpened to a deadly point. She has a few small scars on her palms from when she was just starting to carve her own arrows. She keeps a small knife at her hip for times when she hasn't time to draw her bow. She is often in the training fields, keeping her aim sharp. She has split a few arrows with her incredible accuracy, but she always finds a good branch and carves new arrows, keeping at least fifteen with her at all times.
Personality: Wynah may have a pretty face, but she keeps herself guarded. She rarely trusts anyone, and is often alone. She has no family, as the first child of her now deceased parents, and as such grew up lonely.
Wynah is an expert at hiding her feelings. She had to be, to survive as an orphan on the streets of the cothold. Rarely does she show more than disdain toward others. She longs to become a Rider, and will admit to wishing for a Queen, but what girl doesn't entertain the notion at least once? She tends to get a glimmer in her eyes when she talks about dragons, about being a Rider.
Growing up an abandoned orphan showed Wynah the ugly side of life early on. She wants to someday be able to help other children who are homeless and abandoned, forced to resort to thievery to survive. She hates seeing other children left to nothing and abandoned by their homes. If she does age out of Candidacy, she wants to use her hunting skills to help the children of the cotholds by teaching them to survive in an honorable way. Regardless, she wants to find a way to help the abandoned children of Pern.
History: Wynah's father was killed in a hunting accident about a season before her birth. Her mother fell into depression and died during childbirth, leaving Wynah to be raised by the cothold on a riverbank.
At the age of three, Wynah was left on the streets to fend for herself. She became an expert thief, though stealing weighed heavily on her heart, even at a young age. She knew it was wrong, but it was necessary to survive. She got beaten the few times she was caught, but not severely enough to leave scars.
She was almost eight Turns when a traveling hunter came to the cothold. She snuck out to watch him hunt, and she told the man, named Telsan, that she wanted to learn to hunt. He agreed, albeit hesitantly, and started by teaching her how to clean and prepare carcasses for cooking and preserving. He gave her the knife she keeps with her to this day as a Turnday present.
Wynah was nine Turns when she was taught how to trap smaller creatures. She was almost ten when Telsan taught her how to carve a bow, and string it with a specially made string from the wild mountain beasts. He taught her how to carve arrows, which took her a while to master, resulting in the small scars on her hands.
She shot down her first large forest beast when she was thirteen. Telsan used the beast's antlers to make a new bow for the girl who he'd grown to care about like his own daughter. He took a long time to make the bow, making it large enough that it would be useable when she grew.
She was fifteen when she was invited to travel with him, and she quickly agreed. Telsan was the only person who saw the true Wynah, the Wynah who laughed and shared stories and confided in him.
The pair traveled around for many Turns. When Wynah was seventeen, the pair happened upon Rainbow Mists Weyr. Telsan, getting on in years, suggested that they settle at the Weyr. Wynah was told to move into the Candidate's Barracks not long after that, and that she would Stand at the Hatchings. Her heart soared when she realized that this was her chance to become a Rider.
She was 19 when she Impressed her love, Alzdith, a Sunlace with similar desires as her own.
Adoption?: preferably not.
Name: Alzdith
Pronunciation: alls-dihth
Color: Sunlance (f) (FFEFD5)
Size: 25 feet
Turnday: 09.02.75
Age: Hatchling
Personality:
Alzdith is a protector who longs to make the world better for those around her. Her tendency is to look after others first and herself last. She is a warrior and hunter at heart and delights in teaching others these skills and learning them from her rider. To see her rider's dreams come true are as important to Alzdith as breathing and she will do her all to make them come true for her. She may not be the highest ranked color, but she knows she is remarkable. She chose Wynah because of her desire to teach others and help them grow and fend for themselves. She is an adventurous sort and wants to travel and explore Pern, and she hopes her Wynah does too. She is very justice oriented and feels that Pern is too heavily weighted by metallic hides and those who are entitled... though these are barely coherent thoughts that have crossed her mind just out of her shell.
