Name: S'rico (formerly Sarico)
Pronunciation:sa-RI-ko
Gender: male
Age: 25
Turnday: 3049.02.25
Weyr: Rainbow Mists, formerly of Ista
Rank: wingrider, journeyman Dragonhealer
Family: Sarta, father, master Healer at Ista Hold. Icosa, mother, journeywoman healer at Ista Hold
Weyrmate: nope
Friends: just a few
Pets: Snowstorm, White(F) flit
Appearance: S'rico is tall, about 6.5 feet, and slender. That's the first thing most people notice about him. His muscles are well defined, but not distractingly large. His hair is a dark brown, and his eyes are so light blue they're nearly grey. His skin is a dark tan color, with obvious tan lines from his riding gear. He has a few minor, barely noticeable scars from the flits that he's treated in the past who got a bit violent with him, mostly on his arms and hands. His hands are rough and calloused from helping harvest herbs from the fields, as well as gathering the naturally growing herbs around the Hold.
Personality: S'rico is reserved and quiet, but is adept at both strategizing and keeping cool in a pinch, though. He's really the only one who can keep his dragon in check, besides a Queen dragon of course. He is loyal, but will often keep quiet if he doesn't want to get involved. He treats both male riders and female riders the same, with the exception of those who are ranked higher than him. In that instance, he treats them with the respect they are due. He is very strict about age differences, and will not be anything more than a mentor to anyone who is more than five Turns younger than him. For the moment at least.
He is quiet, but he knows what he says when he does talk. He is able to keep a conversation going if it is just him and one other person. However, in a large group setting, he prefers to hang back unless someone misses something or Aldith mentions something that he wants His to share. He prefers to keep to himself and his dragon and flit, but is relatively easygoing. Where rules are concerned, if he catches a Weyrling breaking a rule, he will not hesitate to report them to the WeyrlingMaster. Same for Candidates. He is a bit more lenient on young Weyrbrats and older Riders with mature dragons, but he tries to leave the Rider's punishment to those who are of higher rank, except when the action requires immediate discipline to a younger pair.
Often, he can be found out practicing ground combat skills, or testing new maneuvers with Aldith in the air. His perseverance is admirable. He takes up whatever is given to him and does it to the best of his ability. He is loyal to the Weyr and the Weyrwoman, though he does sometimes have conflicting loyalties to both Rilora and the Weyrwoman of Ista.
History: Sarico was born to a pair of healers in Ista Hold. He was energetic, but quiet at the same time. He helped his parents with the more minor injuries that came in, like scrapes and small cuts that small children got when playing. He was a quick learner, but wanted to do something more.
When he was five Turns old, he went out with some of his friends to explore the foliage around the Hold. They were accompanied by an apprentice Carver of fourteen Turns, who had been told by his mother to watch his younger brother. They went out to the far herb field, and didn't notice the leading edge of the Threadfall before it was too late. Most of the boys were able to get under cover in time, as there was a stone cavern not too far from the far field, but there was a single boy who was not fast enough. A single strand of Thread fell on his arm as he ran inside the stone cavern. One was all it took. They were found by the Riders, but not soon enough. The boy was dead, and the others were absolutely horrified by it.
Not long after that, one of Sarico's mother's friends' flit had a Clutch of eggs, and Sarico Impressed a little white flit, whom he named Snowstorm. She seemed a bit mischievous, and so the five-Turn-old boy named her.
He was nine Turns old when his parents were requested to Ista Weyr to help with the wounded in the last Threadfall, and he went with them. He saw dragons up close for the first time, then saw the Dragonhealer. He decided right then and there that he wanted to help the majestic beasts of the sky in whatever ways he could, so they wouldn't have to feel the pain he had when Thread had taken his friend's life. His parents decided to stay at the Weyr for a few Turns, and when Sarico turned twelve, he became an apprentice Dragonhealer.
At thirteen Turns, he was offered the chance to become a Candidate. He agreed, and Stood for his first Clutch just after his fourteenth Turnday. He went unImpressed for many Turns. Then, his lucky day came for him on his nineteenth Turnday
How could he be sure that he'd Impress this time? Five Turns of being left Standing. Six if he counted his first Turn as a Candidate, but he hadn't Stood that Turn, so he didn't count it. But today was his Turnday. If he didn't Impress within the next few Turns, he would never Impress. Would he be satisfied with just healing dragons now that he'd gotten so close to actually becoming a rider?
Humming. The Hatching! He slipped quickly into his new, longer robe, then the sandals, then darted out the door. He merged with the other Candidates heading to the Hatching, his heart racing. This could be his last chance. Threadfall had stopped, so there were going to be less frequent Clutches. He sighed, trying to keep himself calm. He was supposed to be the one who was cool under pressure.
The eggs... They had started Hatching! Four eggs in, and there was a gasp from the spectators. It was a Bronze... With Crimson wings?! What a beautiful combination! He felt a tugging in the back of his mind and stepped forward. Just a single step, to put him in front of the other Candidates. Not near close enough to get him called out for being too close to the eggs, but just enough for the Bronze-Crimson to notice him. Their eyes met. Everyone else disappeared.
S'ricoMine, you are perfect.
Rather than being jealous, Snowstorm was curious about the strangely colored dragon, and quickly became friends with him.
When his twenty-second Turnday came around, S'rico walked from apprentice Dragonhealer to Journeyman Dragonhealer. He was allowed to take on cases on his own, but often returned to his mentor's side when confronted with a problem for the first time. With Thread no longer falling, most of the injuries that came to S'rico were either minor injuries on a Weyrling's dragon, or flight wounds on Kings.
After hearing about the troubles going on at one of the other Weyrs, the Weyrwoman of Ista decided to send a small group of her Wingriders to Rainbow Mists Weyr about a month ago. S'rico was one of them. She had decided that the relation between Ista and Rainbow Mists was strained enough as it is and wanted to at least make an attempt at redeeming Ista Weyr in the eyes of Rainbow Mists. However, many Ista Weyrfold believe she sent S'rico and Aldith to Rainbow Mists to make sure the strange coloration wouldn't set itself into the next generation of dragons.
Adoption?: Sure.
Dragon's Name: Aldith
Dragon’s Gender: male
Dragon's Age: 6
Dragon's Color: Bronze(B8860B)-Crimson(CC0000)
Dragon's Appearance: Most of Aldith's body is Bronze, fading from light to dark at the tip of his tail. However, his tail tip is a Crimson red, matching the lower half of the membranes in his wings. His wings fade from Bronze at the bones to Crimson near the middle. He has some minor scars from where his hide was burned by a wayward Weyrling Flaming for the first time, but his wings are undamaged, and most of the scarring is on his tail. At 38 feet long, he is one of the larger of the King dragons, and proud of it.
Dragon's Personality:Aldith is a strategist. He has some trouble keeping a cool head in a fight, but relies on His for that. He prefers to talk only to His, even when he gets irritated. He often swishes his tail when he gets angered, but the Bronze in him helps keep that from happening. The Crimson in his blood does make him easier to aggravate than a normal Bronze, but the Bronze in him helps keep the Crimson in check.
Dragon's History: Aldith Hatched in the 3068th Turn, on the 25th day of the 2nd month. It was S'rico's nineteenth Turnday. The most memorable day for them both.
Aldith almost got into quite a few fights as a Weyrling, both verbal and physical, before he was able to keep his Crimson temper in check. He was often sulking because he never said what he really wanted to. The Bronze in him wouldn't let him say anything to the other dragons, or the other people. Few have ever heard him speak before.
Recently, Aldith has been looking forward to the transfer. He had heard from other dragons that the Gold Queen of Rainbow Mists was close to Rising, and he looked forward to some competition that wasn't related to him.
