Name: Dagoniat
Pronunciation: dag-oh-ñat (The ñ is like the Spanish enye thingy, where you add the "y" sound to the "n"....like "Nya-nya-nya-nya-nya"....
Gender: Male
Age: 18
Turnday: 04.23 of 3055
Weyr: Rainbow Mists Weyr
Rank: Weyrbrat, Candidate
Family:
Father - D'ag of brown Hirokith
Mother - Aniata, kitchen worker
Siblings - Dag has a few half-siblings running about, but does not know them
Friends: Dag considers nearly everyone a friend enough, but will likely get true friends through IC play
Pets: none yet
Appearance: Dag is a tall, broad shouldered boy, his body taut from working as a he grew, helping around the Weyr, in the kitchens and wherever else was needed. His hair is a dark chocolate color cut long so that it frames his face although not too long so that it flows too far from his head and would need to be tied back for its own good. He has soft brown eyes that seem to reflect back flecks of emerald green in the evening lighting. His face is pleasing to the eye, lightly tanned as the rest of him, not cluttered with any marks from his youth. He is not overly tall, reaching just shy of six feet in height he stands above most females although far too many males seem to have the ability to tower over him. He is much broader than most others of Pern, not overweight or unfit, just stocky with muscle.
Dag keeps himself clean, his trousers washed, and his tunics fresh. He despises not washing his clothing, feeling that it is more disrespectful to his home as it looks as if they cannot even give their children decent attire. He is always clean-shaven and ready for any meeting with any master or Lord Holder, ready to make a good name for his beloved Rainbow Mists Weyr.
Personality: Dag is extremely polite and helpful. He will often take the blame for others, the brunt of the chores or duties. He is quiet and although not entirely shy he is very unlikely to speak to someone he does not know already, unless they look terribly lost or for some reason overly-flustered. He has a gentle tongue and patience that would outlast any blue dragon. He works well with children, allowing them to speak their hearts out and listening to all that they say with ease, then offering them anything that they were wishing from the conversation, be it the location of bubbly pies at a Gather or to tell him how awful their playmate had been to them.
He is not likely to start or stop a fight, although he would easily step in the way of any thrown punch, using his own body as a blocker to the fight, though only making small attempts to restrain the attacker. He seems to have the ability to take a lot of pain or strain. Because of this, he often chooses the most difficult of tasks, knowing that it will give him something to do. He takes care not to forget his own strength when dealing with others, although not always when dealing with items, having been known to have a clumsy moment more than once and break whatever it was that he was carrying.
He tells no one of this, but he has a fear of darkness, much preferring to be near the windows at night to get light from the stars or staying near the glows when walking down dim-lit corridors. Still, he wouldn't openly complain if anyone above his rank told him to do something in the dark or outside during the night, he would bear his fears silently. No matter how fast his heart would pound, or how every single noise would echo in his ears, Dag would work without stopping until his given task is completed.
History: Like any other child of a rider, Dagoniat was fostered, raised by others in the weyr, those without dragons. He has always lived in the Weyr, in close proximity to dragons. Occasionally he will pass one of his birth parents while doing his chores, but there is never a word passed between them. He does not resent them, simply does not know them. At the age of twelve he was offered the chance to go to the Harper Hall for training, but declined for a lack of want for the craft. He knew he was much more likely to be a messenger or a runner of sorts than someone who taught and entertained all of Pern, although he holds great respect for the people.
He decided late in life that he would stand for a chance at a dragon, as he was already seventeen when he first went to the Sands. Just over a Turn has passed, and every dragon thus far has walked past him. But Dag doesn't lose heart, he knows that it takes time to Impress a dragon, that it is not done overnight. At least, not for the majority of Candidates, while there are the lucky few who do manage to Impress with their first Standing. Beyond this thought, he also realizes that he may never Impress, and will be content if no dragon ever finds him worthy. Surely there is other work to be done in the Weyr, he will not have to leave should he never find a dragon that thinks him suitable.
Adoption?: No thank you!
Dragon Preferences: I have no preferences for him, there are far too many colors to choose from! Do with him as you see fit!
