Appearance: T'po is a tall kid, standing at six feet two inches, with the possibility of growing another two inches before he's finished maturing. He's fairly well muscled, quite a catch in the eyes of any woman. His frame is well built, as he took after his father and worked with the Smithcrafter for his earlier turns of life. His skin is tanned from years of time spent in the sun, working outside with his mother and siblings or near the fires with his father. His skin doesn't burn, simply darkens ever so slightly, with elongated stays in the sunshine, or pales even more slightly when kept inside for lengthy amounts of time.
His hair is a dark even shade of black, and kept at a medium length for a male. The mass is fluffy and, though brushed often enough, always appears in some semblance of unkempt. Some days he does have a bit of bed-head that just refuses to be calmed down and put back into place. Having dark hair makes him also need to shave considerably more often than a blonde man would, and after longer shifts, it won't be uncommon to see T'po with an amount of stubble on his face, though he refuses to ever attempt to grow a beard. Not that he really could grow a beard yet, his youth leaving patches in his facial hair that can only be filled in by age.
His eyes are a dark brown color, that appear fairly warm in the sunshine while looking quite cold inside in the shadows. It is normal to see amusement in his eyes, as T'po is always happy and smiling and joking with anyone who will take the moment to have a bit of fun.
As a preference, T'po tends to wear darker clothing, blacks and blues, and purples since Impression. Darker colors simply look better on him with his tanned skin and dark hair and eyes. He does enjoy tight fitting clothing that shows off his chest, and he doesn't mind wearing accessories either. He doesn't do a great job of taking care of his clothing though, and he does often look like he's a bit scruffy, hair and clothes alike.
Personality: T'po is a people person. He goes out of his way to meet everyone and to greet all the new people in the Weyr. He loves to socialize and to have conversations with everyone. He's hard to ruffle, and will enjoy speaking about nearly any topic that he can get someone to talk about. He doesn't care who the person is, he just wants to have a great time and talk to everyone. He doesn't care if it's a kitchen drudge or the Weyrwoman herself, he likes to be in good standing with everyone all at the same time.
Jovial and a bit of a prankster, T'po does play friendly tricks on everyone. Usually just small practical jokes here and there, he has been known to get out of hand a time or two, and will be reeled back in by his superiors. He never means any harm by it, but sometimes he just finds things funny that other people simply don't, and he can't understand why they aren't laughing right alongside him. He also enjoys when pranks are pulled on him, and though he can see most of them coming, he still enjoys having someone play with him and will pretend as if he was truly surprised.
It isn't exactly that T'po is lazy, but he does tend to have a relaxed way about doing things. He doesn't rush into anything, and will take his time with any task given to him. He usually does a pretty good job, but can take three to four times longer than people who rush through the task to get them done. The only things worth rushing are his pranks, and regular duties can be completed whenever the time is convenient for him.
History: Jovial is the second child, first son, of a Smithcrafting father and a Farming mother from Golden Flight Hold. While he was young, his sister had already started following their mother, so Ty's father took him under wing and started training him in the Smithcraft at a young age, hoping and expecting that his son would follow in his footsteps. Ty enjoyed the work, and more especially the time spent with his father, but wasn't overly good at the tasks. Smithcrafting required focus that he simply didn't have, and the intention to get a job done with a certain amount of speed, which Ty didn't care to work on.
Ty also spent time helping his mother with the farming when she needed more help than just his sister, his younger brother wasn't much help in the earlier days. Again, he didn't focus on his work and didn't rush to get the jobs done while his sister was working hard to get everything done in time. Ty simply didn't comprehend the need to rush things through, didn't understand that there could be a deadline for some things, like getting seeds into the ground in time to get the plants grown before frosts hit and such nonsense.
Neither his mother nor his father was looking forward to Tylapo growing up, as they both felt he wasn't appropriately suited for their crafts. They contemplated talking to him about other crafts, but couldn't think of one where his abilities would excel. Their daughter was well proven in the farmercraft, and even their youngest son was showing interest in growing things. But they hadn't a clue how to handle Tylapo and his lack of dedication.
Fortunately, when he was fifteen, Ty was searched by a dragon from Rainbow Mists Weyr. Both parents were excited, hoping that perhaps their son would find use in the Weyr where he was having difficulty in the Hold. Lina was upset that she was not Searched also, feeling that she was such a harder worker than her brother, but the blue dragon couldn't find any reason to take her as well as Ty.
Just like at home, Ty didn't rush with his work as a Candidate, but he did what he was told and kept himself in Candidacy. He Stood for a few clutches without Impressing, but wasn't phased by the lack of interest from a dragon. He was far too easygoing, and having more fun conversing with the other Candidates in the Weyr, or to talk to the journeying crafters and listening to the tales that they had to tell.
However, during golden Archith and Bronze Promeuth's clutch, everything changed. He wasn't the first to Impress, not by a long shot, but there was a beautiful purple hatchling that had turned her head his way. T'pomine, your Laundcyth is so very hungry. Can we please please please please please get something to eat? It didn't matter to him that she was a female, or that she might have been slightly smaller than the average purple, or anything about her at all was the way it was. All that mattered was that the bouncy purple hatchling was looking to him alone, and that his whole life was complete now.
Together, with his newly Impressed Laundcyth, T'po walked to the edge of the Sands where the bowls of meat were waiting for him along with so many others that had also Impressed dragons in this clutch. He certainly didn't care about the others, the only dragon that would ever be for T'po was his most beautiful Laundcyth.
Adoption?: Sure, since I adopted Laundy
Dragon's Name: Laundcyth
Dragon’s Gender: Female
Dragon's Age: ~3 months
Dragon's Color: Purple - 8e00e0
Dragon's Adult Size: 28.5
Dragon's Appearance: Laundy is slightly on the small side for a purple, but it's hardly noticeable with how much she bounces around and moves about, as if she will never tire down. She is leaner than most, with a streamlined feminine build, thin chested and long legged. Her tail is long and thins evenly down to the tip, with long wings that spread out gracefully, or would if she would move about gracefully instead of like a little child of a dragon.
Her shading is difficult to describe. While it is a fairly average hue for a purple, it seems both bright and dark at the same time, depending on the environment she's in at the moment. The base is spread evenly across her, though she does have a few wisps of paler shades of purple about her wing membranes, it makes for interesting pictures with the sun behind them.
Dragon's Personality: If energy were currency, Laundcyth would be fantastically rich. It's as if she never sleeps! The rider of this dragonet might get a pleasant surprise to find out she sleeps with her eyes completely open, and only for six hours a day - that's two less hours for the Rider during her weyrling Turns!
Regardless, Laundcyth is a lovable young lady, whose appetite is slightly below average. She is dependable and always friendly, however at times she can ramble on for long periods. She’s always kind and caring for those around her, especially sympathizing with her Rider and other dragons. As she ages, she will mature, no longer waking her Rider early in the morning, and remembering to look the other direction or hide her face when she falls asleep.
Dragon's History: Laundcyth hatched in a clutch from golden Archith and bronze Promeuth. She hatched towards the end of the hatching, where no eggs were left unhatched and no hatchlings went between. She found Hers fairly easily, and didn't even look to any others before finding him. She is still young yet, and has her whole life ahead of her, but for now this is all that there really is to tell about pretty Laundy!
Writing Sample:
"Just a few more minutes," he said, trying not to yawn while he spoke to the purple. Was there something physically wrong with her? He sometimes wondered if he should take her to see the dragonhealers, both about this need to be up at unreasonable hours, as well as the fact that she never seemed to close her eyes. It was a little unnerving, and that was with him! He was worried what others might think if they saw her. While T'po felt he could think however he wanted about his perfect lovely Laundy, he never wanted anyone else to think less of her for any reason.
He didn't seem to be moving, so Laundcyth padded over to the other side of his bed and grabbed the furs on that side to begin tugging them. I am healthy, but I am hungry! she protested heartily. Why wasn't he feeding her? Had she been bad? Why didn't he want to love her and let her eat and be fed and full?
T'po grunted, "You know that's not what I'm thinking," he groaned, but she had already won. It was clear. He sat up in his bed and stretched his arms upwards, then tossed his furs aside so that they fell off the bed and covered up the little purple hatchling. Laundy let out a squawk and began nuzzling her way out from under them while he pulled on a tunic and some boots. "Come on love," he said, smiling at Laundy who had just managed to get her head out from under the furs.
Together they walked, T'po trying to tip toe knowing that all the other weyrlings were still asleep, and Laundcyth bouncing up and down, tail swaying back and forth, nipping at the air and not caring at all that she was making any noise. She was only concerned that Hers was going to give her food, and that he loved her and cared for her and did not want her to die!
Those last thoughts brought a smile to T'po's face, making this whole getting up early thing worth it, just to spend time with his amazingly perfect dragon.[/ul]
