Appearance: Solene is a delicate girl, needless to say. Small-framed, as skinny as they come, she obviously wouldn't win in a contest of strength. But she's swift, agile, lean, and gifted when it comes to using knives, for defense or otherwise. She's as cute as a button, some would say. Her nose is a bit round, her cheeks holding a pale, constant flush. Solene's hair is long, wispy, and a pleasant light brown. It often tries to hide her wide, pretty brown eyes that seem to glimmer with untold humor. No matter what she wears, it always seems a bit too baggy. She seems fond of dresses and pants alike, and loves to wear colors that are bright and cheerful, much like her personality. If it's colorful, and has something flowy about it, she'll wear it.
Personality: Just as sharp as the knives she uses, her mind is always in action. Sharp, calculating, planning. She loves a good challenge, given it within her abilities. Where she lacks physically she certainly makes up for it mentally. If her mind is not engaged in something, or if she is not doing something...she'll go nuts. The worse thing you could do to this girl is make it so she can not move and stare at blank walls. Solene likes to challenge herself, to think outside the box, to take things to the next step. Because of this, people often view her as an introvert that wishes to be with herself, or far too perceptive to a degree of creepiness.
But Solene is a cheerful girl, energetic, willing to at least try to open up to others if given the chance. While she doesn't do well in crowds, she likes the companionship of a few close friends. Due to complications of being nearly always restless, she finds it hard to sleep at night, but seems to operate just fine on at least four hours of sleep. She would never dream of turning her back on others, and could be deemed a loyal protector and friend. While she is open to listen to others, she seems to have a hard time speaking her troubles and worries to others, and keeps the majority of them and her feelings to herself.
History: Solene never knew her father--which was probably a good thing, for the way her mother spoke of how he treated his wife before Solene was born, before the better-off-drunk man was sent off after warning after warning...after warning. Once he was out of the picture, Sophine went about life as if he had never been, only to discover she was pregnant. When Solene was brought into the world, Sophine tried to hate the child, hate those brown eyes that were so much like the man who had tormented her and walked in drunk more often than not. At the same time, though, she fell in love with those eyes, and the small child.
Sophine wasn't the best at being a parent, but was enough of one to teach sensible things to Solene and to make sure she was a worker, not a slacker. At first, she had Solene work with her and her weaving--since she had not the back to be out farming like so many others--since her daughter seemed far too fragile for such hefty work. Solene, however, had other things on her mind. She'd romp about with the boys, get into play fights, run races through the fields and get berated by the adults. That didn't last for long, as such behavior is only somewhat tolerated up to a certain age.
Sophine had another child seven years later, but the father did not stick around to make himself present. Though Sophine doubled in her parenting efforts, and to try to make her daughter into a 'proper lady', Solene still sneaked out now and again, to have practice fights with the boys with their wooden swords, and later, actual knives.
When she was ratted on (by her little brother, of course), Sophine nearly had a heart attack. After that, Solene did her best to sit through the sessions or learning how to sew and weave and create the magnificent things her mother did while she enviously watched Norine go tromping about as she used to. However, many a time her best friend, Shunter, would invite her out on long walks and keep up her passionate skill of practicing her fighting. He was her escape from the world of yarn and hand aches.
One day, as she was picking corn (something she volunteered to do on a regular basis to get out of the house and away from Norine), a search dragon came to their Hold in search of candidates. She was a casual observer, but was pointed out, and was soon whisked away from home, family, and Shunter to a whole new life. A life she fell in love from the moment she set foot down off the dragon into it. She fell into the Candidate life with an unquenchable thirst, and soaked up the teachings and worked hard at her chores. This new life gave her mind more things to do, and she found herself expanding now that she felt, to a degree, more 'free'.
The day she Impressed her dear, white Litinoth, however, was the very best day of her life. Both destined to be small, quick, calculating, they molded into an entity worth being reckoned with.
Adoption?: Yes
Name: Litinoth
Name Pronunciation: [Lit-eh-noth]
Color: White (m)
Adult Size: 13 feet
Dragon Info: Smaller than most whites, this little guy is fast, but has very little endurance. Don't let that bother you, though. He definitely makes up for it with his mind and his charisma. A very outgoing dragon, Litinoth will speak to anyone who will listen, whether they be human, dragon or firelizard. He's also very smart and strives to learn new things. He's got a canny ability to remember things in much more detail than other dragons, and even surprises His with how accurately he can recall events. Did I mention that over time he might find he can move objects with his mind? It's all dependent on how much he's able to experiment.. And he loves to experiment.
Adoption Role Play Example:
"I say forward."
Well, I say backward.
"Fine, then. Best conclusion wins. If I win, you get up early with me for once for a run around the Weyrbowl."
'Fine, then'. If I win, you have to sit down and hold still for ten minutes.
"Deal," Solene said with a smirk, sitting back lightly against the little white, who leaned into her as a counterweight automatically. They both watched as the sleepy, blue dragon up on the heights continued to twitch his rump to and fro, as if chasing something in a dream. His rider was fast asleep against his side, taking no heed to being shifted about by his dragon. While the blue wasn't moving around enough to actually roll, the bet was on whether the rider would or not. Solene's bet was that the rider would tilt forward in the next few twitches, and Litinoth was for backwards, planing on the dragon to shift enough for the rider to fall that way.
The pair watched steadily, then both leaned forward as one as the blue twitched again...once, twice...once more. "Ha!" Solene declared as the blue's belly inhaled a deep, sleepy sigh and maneuvered the rider into slumping forward, nearly kissing the earth at his feet before coming to with a jerk. Litinoth accepted his defeat, but not before huffing out a breath into Solene's hair, messing up the long, pretty stands. Solene grinned and rubbed at his nose, then the both of them shot to attention at a raised, curious shout from across the way.
"Wouldn't do well to be late for the lesson, huh?" she said casually, but slid a shifty look at her dragon, whom of which slung it right back. Without another word or thought, they both shot off to join the other Weyrlings.
