Every time she closed her eyes

Appearance:
Pitch black silk falling down her shoulders like a dancer's veil, one might think that Keira's defining feature is her hair. Though it is definitely one of the top things that people will use to describe her, it is not the thing that stands out about her the most. Generally, instead it is the bright, almost crystal color of her eyes. So light they seem more of a foggy gray than blue, they stand out on her pale skin and dark, long hair. It definitely doesn't help that her eyes are large too, almond shaped and incredibly expressive.
Her face, like the rest of her body, is a petite structure, coming in somewhere between an oval and a heart-shape. She has higher cheek bones that set off an interesting angle to her jawline and nose, which is neither too large or too small for her face. She is without freckles as well despite her time in the Istan sun, and her skin tends to burn before it tans, so no matter how long she stays outside she'll either be an alabaster white or bright red.
At 5ft, 3in, Keira definitely is not the tallest girl in the Weyr. She never will be either since she is done growing and has already filled out. Her body does have curves though in all the expected places a woman should, mostly concentrating around her hips and slightly less at her chest. It gives her a slight "pear" shape and flows into legs that look longer than they are since they are attached to a shorter torso.
Generally, Keira's clothing is not the most usual for a rider. She will wear the normal flight gear when she must, but other than that she prefers tunics and pants or skirts and blouses. Often her favorite thing to do is wear layered and patched skirts with a flowing peasant top and vest. It's a throw back to her life as a trader, and often she is adorned with bangles and other leather and beaded jewelry, as well as a bandana around her head.
Personality:
Keira isn't the most normal girl in the world, in fact she's fairly odd. Then again, for a trader she seems pretty normal and fits in with the rest of her eccentric family. Yes, that's eccentric too, not crazy...never crazy. The rider isn't strange in that she has random fears or anything like that, she just acts off. She tends to go from incredibly playful and outgoing to very shy and introverted in the time it would take a dragon to between. It doesn't even have to do with being comfortable, or on the opposite side, uncomfortable. Keira just is scatter-brained.
She will appear happy, as if there isn't a care in the world, and in those first few moments when you talk to her, there seems to be nothing bothering her. Then she'll whip around and turn quiet, draw into herself and often walk away after she's asked a question. If you didn't know her, this would make absolutely no sense, even if you did know her, it still seems odd and hard to become accustomed to.
What it is, is that Keira enjoys playing these games. She loves to see the confusion pass over anothers' face, and she desires that knowledge of being a perfect mystery to someone else. The rider plays games, flirts, jokes, tells stories, and then leaves just as quickly as she has laid the punch-line down. To keep her in one place is a difficult thing, but it is not something that can't be done. All you have to do is wiggle something in front of her, a secret, a piece of information, and she is begging for it as badly as a newborn flit with food.
Keira can't stand not knowing something, and she will go out of her way to listen to the juicy gossip going on in the Weyr, and there is always plenty of it to be heard. The girl is just as bad with keeping it going as well. Be warned, you should never tell Keira a secret. She may play with it and wave it in front of you, but she will eventually say it. She just can't keep anything in. This also shows with her emotions. Keira will say or do whatever is on her mind, and she wears her heart on her sleeve.
It is another reason that people get confused by her sudden mood changes. Most will say it's a good thing that she bonded to a dragon that keeps things to himself and is secretive instead of something like a Sunlance, otherwise they would never be able to keep either of them quiet. In terms of her dragon, Keira is the ever constant, loving presence. She adores him and would do anything to make him happy, and the games he plays by keeping his secrets both infuriates and makes her happy. It's just one more puzzle to solve, just one more riddle to figure out.
History:
~Before Candidacy~
Keira was born into a small trading caravan near High Reaches Weyr. The traders were mainly a mix of weavers and harpers, with some healers and a few runners that stopped into the camps as well, and they both sold wares and sent messages between the Weyr and its different villages and holds. The girl wasn't the only child in the group, however she was one of the few girls, especially in her own family. Born the middle child between two brothers, Keira learned both how to be a tradergirl from her mother, but also how to hold her own with the boys.
From a young age she was highly inquisitive, wanting to learn about anything and everything she could get her hands on. Often this would lead her parents and teachers to near madness from the constant stream of "whys" and "hows" they were made to answer. Every response though was one more thing learned, and often they were not without their own set of new questions. By the time she was old enough to learn a trade, Keira's older brother had been searched by a rider while at High Reaches Weyr.
She remembered watching the hatching and the excitement when he impressed a Brown, and she knew at the moment all she wanted to do was follow in his footsteps. Keira dreamed of more than just a trader's life, marrying into some other caravan to make connections for her family. However, her parents refused to allow it. Even though she had been searched by dragons too, her parents were insistent on not losing another child to the Weyr, especially their only daughter.
Angered, Keira often rebelled in small ways against her family, and each time she was scolded and made to do chores until she quieted down again. By the time the girl turned 20 though, she had had enough. Her parents had found a nice man for her to marry. Keira had found a nice runnerbeast to take her away.
~Candidacy~
You can't really say that Keira was in candidacy, or even was a candidate. She ran away after taking the man's runnerbeast while he was visiting before their marriage ceremony. Arriving at Ista Weyr in the middle of the hatching, she headed for the sands, determined to not go through the night without a dragonet. Inside the hatching sands, the Golden mother was trying to urge a frightened Green to come from the remnants of its shell, but the poor thing was being taunted playfully by a strange dark blue and black male. She didn't know it at the time, but it was the first Midnight to be hatched at Ista in a long while, and already there were whispers spreading through the stands about just who the male would choose.
Hissing at him, the Gold nudged the Green on, and she wobbled in Keira's direction. Finding that his fun had been disturbed, the dark blue and black dragonet turned around to see what had gotten the Green's attention, and he slunk into the shadows as he crept closer to the girl hidden near the entrance. Keira thought her luck had shown when the Green tilted its head and looked at her curiously, except the voice that entered her mind wasn't from the little, female dragonet. Somehow, she just knew it wasn't.
LittleBird, you're a sly little thing aren't you? Tell me, how is it that such a pretty thing came free from its cage? Your Midnight is intrigued. Tell me Keira, and maybe I'll give you my name.
~Weyrlinghood~
Aezyth finally did tell Keira his name, but it wasn't without its own trials. The girl had to feed and oil him quite a few times before the dragonet finally conceded to telling his secret. The rest of their training was no different. Often, he would keep things from her, sometimes because he thought it was for her own good. Most likely though, it was because he enjoyed seeing her frustration and drawing her along. When they finally did graduate, they were not the top of their class, but they were not the bottom either. They graduated simply, with no honors, but extremely pleased nonetheless.
~After Graduation~
Soon after, the Midnight became withdrawn and quieter than usual. It took a whole turn for Keira to finally coax the male to tell her what was on his mind, but finally on the memory of his hatching day, he did say what he was thinking. I don't want to be here anymore. I hate it here. I want to see the world like you did LittleBird. Let me spread my wings, let us leave here. Agreeing with her dragon, Keira put in a transfer to ISW.
When they arrived, everything was so different at first, that Keira was just glad that someone wanted to help her out. That person was a young weyrling by the name of A'mir. The Silverlight rider had plans for her and the tight-knit group they ran with though. A war was brewing in the young riders' minds, but Keira and A'mir never thought that it would turn against the Silverlight and her rider. When the group suddenly showed to be against the Unnatural Queens, Keira was forced to choose either her friend and imprisonment, or the rest and freedom. Deciding that she could do more outside of a cage, Keira has agreed to play along...at least for now.
Adoption?: NPC or kill off
Dragon's Name: Aezyth (I-Z-ith)
Dragon’s Gender: Male
Dragon's Age:34 turns
Dragon's Color: Midnight
Dragon's Appearance:
Not the largest of his color, Aezyth comes in at a mere 26 ft long. He however, has wings that are better suited for a Cloud's body than a Midnights. They are large, very, very large. They also are broad and have strong muscles for long or fast flights, just don't ask him to make any quick turns.
In terms of his coloring, Aezyth is similar to any other Midnight in that his hide is a base of midnight blue swirled and matted with lighter and darker grays and almost sooty blacks. The one difference he has, is that his underside and wings are darker than the rest of his hide, and right above his underside is a strip of sapphire blue that has no swirls on it. It travels on both sides from under his chin, down his neck, stops at his shoulder, continues across his mid-section, again stops at his withers, and continues and tapers down on his tail. The same color also appears as a lining around his eyes that dips down his muzzle and crosses beneath it. It also appears on his neck ridges.
Dragon's Personality:
Not the most direct dragon, Aezyth like mainly Midnights is a thing shrouded in mystery. He likes to be secretive, often keeping things even from his rider just to see her become frustrated by that. It's more than just being playfully irritating however, it's a way of life, a desire to uphold a certain standard of honesty and yet dishonesty. After all, it's not a lie to withhold information, but it certainly isn't the truth either.
The Midnight tends to speak in riddles as well, playing with words and puns, even referring to his rider as a LittleBird and himself some sort of caging entity. Isn't he though? Is he not what tethers her to everything, and she not what gives him purpose? This is the sort of questioning answer that Aezyth would give, and the formation of such things pleases him to no end. He has no sense of justice really either except for whatever he can reason, which is why he doesn't mind bending the rules for his own ideas.
Oh, and does he come up with ideas. He speaks his mind whenever he pleases, but always in the least expected ways. Instead of outright saying what he thinks, he'll manipulate situations just so, or he will dance around the subject with little jabs at things he dislikes and loving comments toward things he does. Subtly is this dragon's middle name, and it's his favorite game as well.
Dragon's History:
Born in the middle of his hatching, Aezyth was a troublemaker from the start. He tormented his green sister with question after question, wanting her to guess at his reasoning and make her consider why it was that she was there on the sands. When his mother finally made him stop, he gave in, finding something more interesting to play with. A girl by the name of Keira.
The two quickly bonded, but it was mostly on Keira's side. Aezyth, despite his undieing loyalty to her and his love, was secretive as ever and never quite came out and said how much he cared until they were almost at the end of their training. Even after, he didn't trust her completely with his thoughts, preferring to make her guess. After all, she only deserved to hear them if she could guess at them first.
When he finally told her how much he wanted to see the world, he was amazed to find she didn't give up any fight. So, they transferred to ISW and quickly got entangled with the absolutely worst thing they could. The group was a renegade, rag-tag wing of riders and weyrlings that seemed to want to help the Unnatural Queens of the Weyr. Yet, one day everything turned and it was shown that they were actually against the thing they had sworn to help protect. Knowing that Keira and he would be locked away with the Silverlight weyrling and rider, Aezyth played the part of a double agent. Stating that he and His were in fact always on their side, and had only befriended A'mir and Sayurith to later betray them. Thankfully, the group believed it...he hopes. When she was just a girl
She expected the world
But it flew away from her reach
And the bullets catch in her teeth
Life goes on
It gets so heavy
The wheel breaks the butterfly
Every tear, a waterfall
In the night, the stormy night
She closed her eyes
In the night, the stormy night
Away she'd fly.
