A dumping ground for my previous stories of RMW days gone by. They will be labeled by subject matter. I'll start us off with a couple.


The Curses of the Azures

A long time ago, there were the Azure dragons. Great and terrible, it is said their riders would be killed, and that the Azures would stay on, enacting a violent rampage in an effort to avenge their riders. These creatures were said to have incredible rarity, but also to appear at surprising times, never knowing when they would appear, bringing chaos with them. For every disaster that occurred around them, was their doing, their existence caused it. Those are the tales from time out of mind. But then one appeared. In a White's clutch where nothing out of the ordinary could have been, an Azure hatched. She was Atraiyith, her rider was Tundra. And according to all, she brought disaster in her wake. Weyrlings were kidnapped in large numbers, Tundra eventually with them. A volcano destroyed Waterfall Valley Weyr. But wait, you say. Waterfall Valley Weyr? Yes, I say, for that is how Rainbow Mists came to be. To find a place to flee to, Rainbow Mists was created, though the curse Was not done. The kidnapper was discovered, and his plan revealed. He was a former rider, his dragon killed, and in his mad state he attempted to kinap weyrlings in order that their dragons might be his. He appeared at a hatching, now known as The Red Hatching, for all the destruction it had. He attempted to force impression with a dragon, but he would not succeed. The Queen of the clutch killed him, and his madness put at an end. But all pointed to the madness and dragonless state as a cause of the Azure. Atraiyith would rise, and bring no chaos with her clutch. Nothing that could get the people in arms. And then...

Nothing. Tundra and Atraiyith simply vanished. Many a theory cam to be as to why it occurred, but none can deny that it did. Half a century has gone by, and not a soul can claim to having seen them. some say they exiled themselves to prevent chaos and murder. There are many stories as to why, ranging from joining DMW to finding a way to break the curse to even more outlandish tales. But not a soul knows. But there is a second tale overlaid with this. And it is for you, dear RPer. You may ask why I reference you directly now, why I have cause to speak with you. It is this, that the second curse affects not the Weyrs, but the Rper who controls them. The Second curse is this. Anyone who plays an Azure, be they dragon or firelizard, vanishes. They do not return to us. Ask those who have been here the longest, we have not had a Azure dragon, or flitter. Nor do we know where they have gone. Like Atraiyith we have watched them, disappear. -Bows- Such is the Curse of the Azures.

Dawn of Lifewings and Deathwings

In time out of mind Pern was settled. People from far away game, bringing with them many creatures that they needed to start a new life. One of the greatest and most artfully made were the Lifewings. Creatures meant to heal, to aid the settlers and ensure that even if medical supplies were hard in coming people would have the benefit of a good doctor. But then the thread came. Only one Lifewing was linked, the rest of them were kept in a place that did not have protection from the thread. Not knowing what to do, the doors were thrown open, and the Lifewings took to the sky, trying bitterly to dodge and flee from the thread. Not knowing what had happened to them, the single man and his lifewing served the people of Pern until they both died, never knowing if the birds had flown to safety, or to their deaths. Turns upon turns later a settlement to the north was created, and a lone individual found a bird, giant and mysterious. It linked with them, and for a time these bird linked with the people of the settlement. It was they who gave them the name Lifewings, upon finding their curious powers. However, one would come, who linked with a Lifewing. As you know now, Lifewings reflect the person they link to, in their feathers and visage you may see what lies in its rider's heart. Upon linking, the Lifewing turned pitch black, the man's hunger for power turned to create the first Deathwing. they would turn others to their cause, and create the first hive, destroying the remaining lifewings and becoming a terror. This is when Ice Stone Weyr stepped in, and where the fight began. Time out of mind they would be locked in their battle, but this war would lack humans, for a long, long time. The Deathwings and Ice Stone Weyr would be forgotten, until one fateful day. But that is another story.
