“I guess I was a little bit clumsy.” An elderly man smiled dreamily, his hand being wrapped up by Kyuuki. He was It’usk, ad it seemed like he had absentmindedly cut his hand while preparing a meal. They were both about the same age, but It’usk had always had trouble focusing fully. Kyuuki found no reason to wonder why he had impressed a Dream.
“You have to be careful, you shouldn’t want to get hurt.” Kyuuki chided as she wrapped his hand up. He had a lot of little scars on his hands, though they were ancient. He might be getting one more from this.
“Oh, I don’t want to get hurt. I am just a little forgetful of what I’m doing.” It’usk smiled, looking appreciative. “Thank you for the patch up.” He got up as Kyuuki finished and looked thoughtful and distant again. “I don’t suppose you know any riderless Lifewings I can talk to.”
“What?” Kyuuki looked confused. It’usk merely smiled in response. “I, uh, know Ithnesh, Vallesh could introduce you. You aren’t hurt that badly.”
“Oh no. I have been talking to the riderless dragons for a little story collection. It hardly seems fair that I stop at that. Thank you.” He smiled and walked out, the man heading out of the healer’s quarters. Kyuuki watched him leave, looking thoughtful. He was an odd one. She put her stuff away and continued with her work, considering the strange man as she did so.
Eventually work was done and Kyuuki moved outside to get some fresh air. Lantern followed, her little light, wherever she went. She stepped out onto the Weyrbowl and took a few steps before suddenly her foot slipped and she fell down. She cried out as her ankle was twisted, and falling to the ground she landed on her arms. Ow.
Kyuuki! are you okay? The Swan lifewing dropped what she was doing and rushed over, to see how her rider was. It’s slippery here, you have to be careful! The Lifewing couldn’t see any lasting damage, a twisted ankle and some broken skin on her arms.
Kyuuki sat up and looked down at where she had stood. She couldn’t see it. It was the same color as the rest of the ground, but when she reached out for it she could feel how slick it was. IT was wet here. She couldn’t’ see that though. She looked over the Bowl and wondered how much she could actually see of where she was going. And she looked down a lot. Lantern chittered, still worried. Kyuuki very carefully got up and started to slowly make her way back inside, toward the Healer’s Quarters looking very thoughtful.
Kyuuki I think it is going to swell… The Swan looked worried, but Kyuuki took a deep breath and smiled.
“I’ll be okay. Will you, um, go find Brynnth? Her rider wants to meet your mate.” So saying, she made her way back to the Healers to fix things up. At least, fixing what good be fixed.
