At Sundown
D’ziel sat up. He had been sitting back in bed, staring again. However, he looked like he was considering something, rather than drowning again. Pounce sat on his lap, meowing at him. He was supposed to sit back so she could enjoy using him as a pillow. He picked up the feline, and stood up, heading outside. Hocteth raised his head, sensing the change. The Moonlight wasn’t sure whether to probe his rider or not, when D’ziel spoke to him.
I’ll meet you in the Bowl.
The Moonlight got up immediately and flew to the Bowl, almost impatient for what might happen. He had to wait a bit, since D’ziel wasn’t actually running there. The moment the rider step out though, Hocteth was up, and following where he went. D’ziel was still holding Pounce as he moved, looking up into the sky. Hocteth followed his gaze toward the setting sun. Still, after a moment they found themselves sitting on the edge of the Bowl, watching the sky. D’ziel hadn’t been out and about recently, and Hocteth let the silence linger, the only noise people the outdoors and the purring of the feline in D’ziel’s lap. Eventually Hocteth was the one to speak.
Have you stopped hating me? The Moonlight looked somewhat apprehensive, even though the evening was shaping up far better than the ones before it. D’ziel paused and looked up at the Moonlight.
“I haven’t been hating you Hocteth. I just…” His gaze turned back to the sky. “I was thinking.”
The Moonlight snorted. That I knew. I just… don’t understand what was the problem if it wasn’t me.
D’ziel was quiet for a moment, before he scooted so that he could lean back on his dragon’s hide as he watched the sky. Hocteth watched his rider as it happened, his eyes changing to a much more contented shade.
“It’s hard to explain all at once.”
We have time.
