3076.03.11 | Late Evening
It was amazing. He’d lived the first twenty turns of his life in cold climates, but now, after close to three turns in the warm, tropical climate of Rainbow Mists, he couldn’t hardly walk the halls without shivering. T’kar was having some trouble believing they heated this place. Of course, he could at least walk around here without removing his flight jacket, so it wasn’t all bad.
The meeting he’d come here for had just broken up, and he fully intended to get some klah, or halk, or whatever the kitchen had so that he could warm up some before departing. Of course, given the way things felt back at RMW, but then, he and Rilora were at least getting everything done that needed to get done, which was better than it could have been.
There was a woman exiting the dining hall as he went to enter it. On habit, he stepped back and to one side, allowing her to pass by…
Wait, she looks like…
“Anastasia?” he asked, not sure if this was actually her.

Anastasia whipped her head around at the sound of her name. She stopped dead in her tracks, looking at the floor. She looked up slowly, her eyes wild with excitement and fear of the oh so familiar voice behind her.
She was wearing a white top sewn into a blue skirt, a black bodice laced around her waist. She had her hair loose and wild today, nothing out of the ordinary when not in flight.
Her hands began to tremble as she saw the face of T'kar staring at her, her body frozen and her nerves began to shake and adrenaline rose in her chest.
"T....T'kar?" She questioned if she was really seeing who she thought she was seeing. It had been so long, she never got to say good-bye to the man.
Secrets be known, she had a nervous butterfly in her stomach dancing around as her eyes locked on his.
[smear:162d9b]Mine, what is this[/smear:162d9b][smear:d6b554] feeling that has you in[/smear:d6b554][smear:162d9b] such a fluster?[/smear:162d9b]
He's here, Prith.
[smear:162d9b]My sweet Ancalanath[/smear:162d9b][smear:d6b554] must be here[/smear:d6b554][smear:162d9b] as well then![/smear:162d9b]
Calm down, they may not want anything to do with us. Just wait before you go to calling.
[smear:162d9b]I would rather wait[/smear:162d9b][smear:d6b554] and see if my King Flame missed[/smear:d6b554][smear:162d9b] his Starlight or not![/smear:162d9b]

In the moment before the woman turned around, T’kar had been certain that he’d guessed wrong, that he’d made a simple mistake. Then she looked up, her wide green eyes seeing to reach through his amber ones and bring him to a complete halt.
“What are you doing here? I thought you were still at Telgar.”
T’karMine, what is happening? Who do you speak with.
Anastasia’s here.
A rush of confusion was Ancalanath’s only answer. Anastasia had still been at Telgar when he and T’kar had left for the warmer, sunnier Rainbow Mists, both for the climate and for being near little Alyga.

Anastasia got a little snippy, "And I thought you went to be a Wingleader in Rainbow Mists. I transferred, to get away from Telgar. You remember what happened. Not to mention you left me without even a word." You could tell with the last sentence she was a bit hurt, tears whelling in her eyes ever so slightly.
She felt happiness and anger all at the same time towards this man. Why did he hurt her so?
She wanted to turn and run, to get away and run from the feelings that were rushing back she had for this man. Why now? When she was finally over him after so many turns, he just waltzed back into her life in the most unexpected place.

T’kar stared. Yes, of course he remembered what had happened at Telgar, and well, Weyrwoman Anaela had kind of over-reacted, but…
“I did so tell you. I told all the other Wingleaders, the meeting we had about a sevenday before I left.”
He was completely confused. Anastasia was clearly upset, but the fact was that he had told her. Ok, not in private, and not the instant that he made the decision, but that wasn’t no word.
Thin ice buddy, as they say here.
Just don’t flame it and I’ll be fine. Despite himself, a flicker of a smile crossed his face as he replied to Ancalanath.
“Why not just ask Z’kul to help you smooth it over? He and Melova can solve anything between them. Weyrwoman Anaela would have listened, eventually.”

Anastasia rolled her eyes, "You think I didn't try that?" She was acting a bit snippy, not sure why.
Emotions were rising in her head and heart, no signs of hitting the ceiling either. She was a woman and whether or not T'kar understood it, when something upset her she would make it known.
"So...so how have you been T'kar? I mean, after all this time it's weird to run into you here. How's Rainbow Mists treating you?" She asked, question after question.
[smear:162d9b]My sweet[/smear:162d9b][smear:d6b554] King Flame has not[/smear:d6b554][smear:162d9b] called out for me![/smear:162d9b]
How do you think I feel? T'kar hasn't even gathered me up in a hug or anything.

T’kar lifted one shoulder in half a shrug. Part of him was practically dying to point out that he had no way of knowing what she’d tried or hadn’t tried, since he was completely out of any loop by that point. The other art of him was focused on clamping his jaw shut, since making that point would probably be a very dimglow thing to do, and he was not going to act like an out of control dimglow.
“I’ve been doing well, Rainbow Mists and I are getting along. What about you, you handling this place ok?” T’kar was not about to go into recent events while standing in a corridor at Ice Stone Weyr, with his luck half the place would know by the next day. It was bad enough that all of RMW seemed to know. Maybe this conversation could find itself back on normal footing.
What’s it been like up here? Ancalanath asked, pin-pointing Prith’s mind. It wasn’t hard, four turns of working together could do that, even when it had been two since you’d spoken.

Anastasia shrugged, "It's nice here, I love the colder weather. I've let things go for the most part since moving here, focusing on my duties as a Wingleader. Are you still a Wingleader yourself?" She had been handling things okay. She was staying busy and trying to ignore her Starlight's recent mood swings.
[smear:162d9b]Ancalanath![/smear:162d9b][smear:d6b554] Things are quite wonderful.[/smear:d6b554][smear:162d9b] I would recommend anyone live here.[/smear:162d9b]

T’kar grinned. “Of course I am. In fact, may I introduce you to the Weyrleader of Rainbow Mists Weyr.” He gave an elaborate bow then. “It would have been more obvious, but since I almost never wear this jacket down there, I took the knots off it some time ago.”
Another grin flashed across his face. “That is one thing I miss about Telgar. Snow. Although I think the amount you get here might send me south again.”
Ancalanath rumbled amusement. That is good to hear. Though perhaps I should ask again during a blizzard?

Anastasia was astonished. The man had become Weyrleader? Her mind was sent reeling; meaning he also had a Queenrider for a Weyrmate. She looked at him, sadness filled her eyes for a moment before she shook the slight heartbreak away and smiled, "Well congratulations." She wasn't sure what else to say to something that quiet frankly upset her. She was a Wingleader, him a Weyrleader. She had been out done and left behind once again by the man and the pain of jealousy slightly struck her heart.
"The cold never bothered me; I quite enjoy the massive flurries and blizzards we have. So peaceful to watch curled up with Prith. I know Prith missed her Ancalanath." she grinned, not wanting to admit it was really she who missed T'kar all this time.
[smear:162d9b]Most likely so.[/smear:162d9b][smear:d6b554] Though they manage to keep it[/smear:d6b554][smear:162d9b] very warm through the Weyr.[/smear:162d9b]

T’kar grinned back, missing the brief sadness in Anastasia’s eyes. It wasn’t really his fault, he was still young, for all of his years in authoritative positions with their responsibilities, with all the ability of accidental callousness inherit in that youth, and despite the time he’d spent around Anastasia, he’d never managed to learn to read her.
“Maybe you should come visit Rainbow Mists at some point,” T’kar offered. “Or, I’ll be up here again fairly soon, perhaps I could come a little early for the meeting.”
Ancalanath bugled, laughing for the enjoyment of seeing an old friend.
“Now though, I had better be getting back. The paperwork attached to this position is endless, trust me.” With that, T’kar turned and walked away, making for the WeyrBowl where Ancalanath waited.

Anastasia nodded, "Of course!" she smiled and watched as he turned his back to walk away. She looked to the ground, tears whelling up in her eyes. She looked up.
"Wait!" she shouted, running after T'kar. She caught up to him, seeing Ancalanath and Prith before them, the Starlight watching her Rider intensely.
Anastasia grabbed his arm, spun him to face her before flinging her arm around his neck, jumping slightly to do so. She hugged him tight before lightly kissing him on the cheek.
"Be careful." she whispered before turning him loose and walking over to Prith. Prith lowered her head to her Rider's level and Anastasia placed a hand on her dragons eyeridge, giving T'kar a graceful wave of her fingers in a bid of goodbye.
She realized how much she had missed the man; more excited to see him after these past few years.

T’kar’s eyes widened, but he had time to give Anastasia a quick hug in return before she released him. Swinging up onto Ancalanath’s back, he returned her wave, a grin flashing across his face, then he turned his eyes to the sky once more. It was odd, he hadn’t thought of her for so long, and yet, seeing her again…
We’ll have to visit, someday, he thought, as Ancalanath launched into the air and entered between.
