Early afternoon
Yuki walked along the shore of the lake, one hand on her swollen stomach, the other hand with one finger wrapped by a small hand, the hand of her first daughter Yura. She'd spent a lot of time with her young daughter since returning to the Weyr. She hadn't seen much of D'gan since she woke up in the infirmary, though. She and R'niaan had talked about it, and they were going to bring Yura with them to the North once this child was born. Of course Yuki was here for another month or more, but she wanted this child to be as healthy as possible before they returned to her home.
Yura was developing surprisingly fast for someone so young. She was already able to walk, at least when she had help, and was getting better at speaking too. Yuki swore to herself that she'd be a bigger part in the upbringing of both children in the future. As would R'niaan, her unborn child's father.
She sighed quietly and looked at her little girl. "Yura, dear, mom is tired. Let's find somewhere to rest, okay?"
"Kay!" Yura said cheerfully. There was a fallen log nearby, placed specifically to provide a place to sit. Yura sat down next to her mother's leg, and the little puppy that had been following them since they left the creche decided then to lick the child's face. Ayleneth was nearby, sunning herself in the grass, taking advantage of the warm weather before they returned to Ice Stone Weyr. Yura eventually got the puppy out of her face and began to play around with the creature, who was surprisingly gentile despite all the tail-pulling that often occurred. Yuki laughed softly, as Grace settled on her shoulder.
Yuki sighed again as she watched her daughter play with the puppy. That was something they couldn't take with them. And she owed it to D'gan to tell him what she and R'niaan had decided to do concerning Yura. It was only right, seeing as D'gan was Yura's father whether he liked it or not. And she had to tell him that she was taking Yura north with her.
