I think Nicole will be about shortly. Kia is, as far as I know, still in the midst of a difficult and sad time in her life. If she has a moment to make a comment I would prefer that, but I acknowledge that she may be unavailable.
I really don't have much to say to what has been said in my absence either. I think Kaya presented it very nicely.
I, personally, think that this is a necessary change because of the benefits it could bring to the Weyr. However, I am, in all honesty, both excited for this idea and cringe a little for the simple fact that I don't want all that we have already to be lost.
However, with what we already have, the history, although fond memories and something that has characterized the place of RMW, the need to know and read all of the documentation and writing on it and the role that it plays so greatly on the current story could put RMW in a precarious position as it is undoubtedly a deterrent to new Rpers. It is definitely intimidating simply because it is so large. A G-revamp into the future would correct this. It may not need to be for that long of a time, but long enough to push some of the relevance of the history into the background and to put the chars who would keep that history so relevant to also be part of the background. Not forgotten, always there, but still part of the background. A character with all of that history easily brings it all back.
I also must admit that I crave something new. I love my current characters, but I feel rather stuck when it comes to them simply because most of them were not overly well designed at first and the ones that were, it seems, I never really played well. I also have changed and so has my style of character. I feel the need for something new beyond just characters too, though.
I love RMW and that hasn't changed. I still enjoy writing with all of you here! I love what we have, but I feel that with moving to a forum and trying to attract new members, it may be good to try to bring RMW to a "younger" weyr once more, in order to bring it back into greater activity. It would be, I believe to our advantage.
I could say more, I suppose, but I think that this will be it for now. I am simply expressing my opinion.

Hmm I thought of something. I'd honestly feel a lot better about this if before any of this happened, we had a sort of closure point. Like something we could point at as the wrapping up of loose ends and the close of a chapter so to speak. I'm still a bit on the fence on this but I was thinking of things that I still want to finish up and maybe we could get it so we move on with a high note. I mean, its like new years. Go out with a bang and raise our glass to the year ahead. It will take longer then dropping everything and getting on with it but, in my opinion, it would be worth it.
I understand the sentiment, Shoki-chan. I also would like to see it happen, but I fear that if we were to do it in such a way, then it wouldn't happen.... But, yes, it would be nice.
Wow, I just saw that... Smelly, hmm? You're such a dork sometimes.
Also, to comment on an earlier post once more... I would likely not bring any of my characters forward through time. If I were to do so, it would probably surprise most people about which one I would pick exactly... Since most of you don't really know her well. Which, honestly, there are several of my chars that most of you probably don't know so well.
I have a proposition. I would like it to be openly considered like the rest of this thread. I have seen opinions and there is a desire for newness and a desire to keep our history and our stories.
Here's my plan.
I think Kaya, my character, would make an adorable 85 year old lady. A "Back in my day" story teller, a 'wise old, knowing smile' kind of person. And she would of course be retired by then. Using 55 Turns as a figure (30 + 55 = 85 Turn old lady), Tyra would be 63 and Koryn would be 58.
Why I think this is a good, fun idea that brings both worlds together:
1. Pern is a low medical technology planet. LifeWings are broken-bone fixers, not immortality granters. No one would be required to keep characters as "old folk" if they didn't want to. They could have passed on of peaceful causes (or less peaceful causes) by then.
2. Everyone wouldn't be dead. We'd have old, stubborn, crafty, foxy old people. A Weyr with OLD PEOPLE. Think of it. New character type to role play. I had Sakura a while back. Trust me, she was a hoot.
3. With the old folks around our history would be preserved. Young'uns, willing and unwilling, would be subject to retellings of "inactive" history, or mostly inactive history. They could squabble about it, "No it was in the fourth Turn" / "You're batty. It was clearly the third!"
4. Wisdom and new blood. A Weyr with a wide range of ages. A place with plenty of open ground for new members, veteran members and characters of all types.
5. Current members wouldn't be left with zero starting characters. They could keep current characters as elders or even play as their children or grandchildren.
6. I want to hear your thoughts!
---- Housekeeping notes: 1. I never intended for Tyra to become Weyrwoman. Shocker. She tells me she's a free spirit, something about being single her whole life. Maybe being a Rider of a Sunset and having adventures.
2. Koryn -- K'ryn by then -- would probably be a daddy.
3. I'm not sure who would be a good Senior Weyrwoman after Kaya, or after after Kaya (two steps down if it comes to that). I kinda want to hear what people think, though I do reserve this character as my own personal final call. ----
I really like the idea that Kaya has proposed. I am in agreement with it. It is a good medium and I rather like the idea of having some rather elderly riders running about. I also think that with this it would definitely keep the spirit of RMW's history alive, but also allow us for a move into the future that would benefit RMW in the long run.
On a side note: X3 I'm not sure about what would happen to all of my chars... I know a few of them probably would have had children by then as well..

Different response, to this lil' post I found 'ere. I. Absolutely. Love it. I agree completely, Sakura was like my favorite character Kaya ever played. She was R'nos's first friend and totally epic.
I for one would love to see K'cin as an old guy. By then, R'nos and S'nire would be long dead from their various adventurous life patterns but K'cin is safe and sound at ISW. He could be "preserved by the cold" or maybe he moved southern to RMW to live somewhere warm again so he wouldn't freeze to death?
I know his dragoness would be hilarious to see as an old one. Dreams I would imagine are nuts when they're older.
By then he could be an inventor for new dragon harnesses or something random like that, he's very crafty.
